I've been reading fluff lately. There is a new LK Hamilton out and I'm planning on getting it tomorrow. What about you?

Bit of fluff too! Sometimes you need that - I'm not a literary snob.

Also read The Time Traveler's Wife recently again, love that book. Sad ending though.

I have bought Kiss of Shadows recently - someone recommended this series to me. Are they good then?

(thanks for not letting my thread die miserably!) :)

Hi ~Fata Morgana~, I love to read too. I'm having a difficult time concentrating lately. I have about four books going at the moment (depending upon mood you know?) but a few of my all time favorites are The Road Less Traveled by M.Scott Peck and The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav. Both are so revealing and every time I read it I get more. I've read both a few times and now I keep them nearby and will read randomly from them (again, depending on mood).

One of my favorite fiction authors is Barbara Delinsky. She lives not far from me and her settings are in New England so it makes it fun since I know many of the spots. They are just a good read all around - a nice story. I'm reading one of hers now.

But, I have to admit to being a true crime junkie. Ann Rule is my favorite for those. I so enjoy her view of human behaviors (even if she has a bias for the prosecution - they all did the crime lol). What's funny is that I can read about some horrific things if they are true but I'd never be able to read a Steven King type book. Kind of odd I know.

I like your thread. I look forward to getting some reviews of books to add to my list.

I like the series. I'm not sure they are as good as the original Anita Blake series, but I still like them. She has gotten much more into the group sex/ fetishes in her last few novels.

Few of my favorites

I have to read Pride & Prejudice every year or so.

The Mists of Avalon~Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Lovely Bones~Alice Sebold
The Secret History~Donna Tartt
This Body~Laurel Dodd
The Painted House~John Grisham
These is My Words~Nancy E. Turner

Anything by Maeve Binchy
Mystery/detective stories by Tami Hoag, Michael Connelly, Laurie R. King

I am very much like twin Cate, I also like true crime and have read several of Ann Rule's--Cate's right-Ms. Rule is very much of the "they're guilty" side of the story.

Funny enough I can't seem to click with Anita Blake series but I absolutely love Merry Gentry series. I can't wait for the paperback issue of Stroke of Midnight, what they have at the moment is the hardcover.

Right now I'm reading Kathy Reichs' Bare Bones, I'm waiting for the latest Temperance Brennan series to come out in June.

Hiya FM , books huh?

OK, Right now I'm reading "Blowfly" by Patricia Cornwell another in the "Scarpeta " series.

Fave of all time is without a doubt "Lord of the rings!" (Comnplete 3 part version)

To recommend, what about the "Duncton" series by Wm Horwood or "The Earths Children" series by Jean M. Auel.

As you can see, I have fairly eclectic tastes.

Good afternoon Salami!

You know I've tried to start Clan of the Cave Bear three times and ended up throwing it at the wall each time. My sister loves them and keeps nagging me not to give up. Just can't get into them though. And I hate giving up on a book. Makes me feel like a failure!

Takes a while to get into her descriptions I think but, when you think that she is trying to describe parts of the earth as they existed as the human race was in its infancy they became fascinating, to me at any rate! All the other books in the series are much the same, full of descriptions of places and of people, what they wore and what they used as tools etc. Sometimes the actual story line seemed a little weak but, I enjoyed them all in the end.

BTW, How about the Duncton Series?? tried reading about Moles yet?? LOL

Hmm... currently reading Biochemistry by Berg. If I am reading for fun then it's usually something by Suzanne Brockman. Not to fluffy and not to serious either. Other wise my favorite book of all time has to be The Three Musketeers By Alexandre Dumas :)

Does anyone here like the Diana Gabaldon series?

There is supposed to be another one due out this year. I think it's called A Breath of Snow and Ashes...but not sure.

I love those books. Highly recommended. :)

Book Lover as well

I love book and I am also a collector. I have close to 300. Mostly hardbacks. I am a big mystery fan. Of course I am a Spenser fan. I have all the books. Most of them are first editions and some are signed. I also like Tom Clancy, John Grishom, David Morrell, Steve Martini, Richard North Patterson, David Baldacci, Sue Grafton, Janet Evanavich, to name a few. I also read a lot of self help books and computer tech books. Right now I am reading two books, Dean Koontz - The Talking and Sheet Music by Dr Kevin Leman (about the music that is made under the sheets!)

Some of the series that you ladies are talking about I am not familar with. Are they romance books? Or erotica books?

Favorite book? Wow that is hard to pick just one. I will have to do some thinking on that one. Glad you started this thread. I LOVE BOOKS!

Hey FM, there already is a what are you reading thread but it seems to have disappeared into oblivion so good on yer for giving us a new one.

Right now I'm reading The One Tree, the second book in The Second Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson. I was lent all six books that make up the first and second chronicles by a dear friend of mine and have enjoyed them immensely, kind of Tolkien-ish with a twist.

Tainted Blood by Mary Ann Mitchell. It is an interesting story, to say the least, about the Marquis de Sade as a vampyre...

Most recent story before that was Flesh Gothic by Edward Lee, which is an odd tale, to say the least, about demons, spirits, mediums, and sex!

Both authors are new to me, and I've enjoyed what I've read so far!!

On another note, can anyone tell me if Belinda by Rice is another of her Vampyre Chronicles or if it's one of her erotica?

Belinda is definetly not one of the Vampire Chronicles. I think it's erotica but not sure. :)

I just finished all the harry potter book about a week agao. Now I'm working on The Davinci code.

Excellent, I'm almost done

I've just started Shannon McKenna's new one Out of Control in the past week. I have read all of hers and they are excellent.

Very gripping....very very steamy!

I'l read anything at all by Iris Johansen, Tami Hoag, Catherine Coulter, John Grisham, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, Frank Peretti....
Mystery/suspense/romance... right up my alley

Right now I'm reading "Blow Out" by Catherine Coulter.. EXCELLENT book!

I'm with you on the John Grisham, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, Frank Peretti books.

But I'm also a sap for romance books as well. Any of the ones Nicholas Sparks has written are wonderful. sad, but wonderful

My All time favorite book is “Personal Justice Denied “ which was written by a blue ribbon congressional panel…real but scary as to what our government did when it came to the Japanese Interment before, during and after WW2…. As I use to tell students you have to go back to 1938 to see our march towards the Interment, but to see the beginning you back to 1892 and study.

And questions to all who like to research 1.When did the camps close ?
2. What happened to the camps?
3. What is Peru’s connection to the camps?
4. What happened in 1944 that could have put the US on the
same path as the Germans to Jews and why didn’t it happen( you will be shocked)?
5. What happen in Alaska during the Intermernts?

IF you can answers to these let me know…Have fun for you about to learn a lot that has been pretty much covered up.

One of the first book I remember reading and has always stuck with me since the early 60s is the “The Game of X” a story about a young college student who went to Europe and was used unannounced to him he was being used as a spy..it’s a fun book…LOL a cheap 007

Now trying to read Tuesdays with Morrie, a Mitch Albom book (The five people you will meet in Heaven)

That's good to know. I have, maybe, 4 of the Vampyre books now thanks to my mom buying me books over the years with no idea, really, on what I like. lol I figured if I ever read the Chronicles I'd need to make sure I started with the first one!

Speaking of the Vampire books, can anyone tell me what happened in "Memnoch the Devil"? I could never get into that book, although I've read the rest. :catroar:
