Boudoir photos

Do it.

I'm thinking of getting some sexy boudoir photos done. Is it weird to want to get them for myself and not my husband, who probably couldn't care less?

Do it.

5 years ago, at 44, I was in the best shape of my adult life. I’d just
run my third half marathon and was doing yoga 4X a week. I’m thick, but fit.
I had an injury that I suspected would mean the end of races for me. I wanted to get photos done, and was told by my husband that it would be a waste of money, since no one would see them except us 2.

I didn’t do it, and I still regret it.

So do it.

Hi Just some read this thread and would be interested to hear others thoughts (mainly woman form my perspective) as to what a boudoir shot / shoot entails..

What they want / expect, what services they feel would need to be included (make up, hair.. costume??)

..and I ask a sit is something that i may offer as a professional service. (pro videographer, photographer, image maker.. b2b)

Hi Vidi,
The short answer is "it depends". It is always a good idea to know a hair/make-up person that you can bring in for a shoot, but it adds quite a lot to the cost. So offer it as an option, not as part of your package. This is not a wedding where hair/make-up is a must, this is not done on the wedding budget either.

As for the costumes, I don't think you can realistically offer much, because women come in all shapes and sizes, all have different tastes, you can't store all that. But you can offer basics -- a silk robe, a see-through nightie,... These are "one size fits most", so you would not need to have 10 of them. Plus, learn how to use fabric. Just get a few pieces from a fabric store and learn how to drape them. I do this for maternity shoots, works much better than any real garments I could offer.

Good luck with getting into this field!

Thank you for this thread, the posts and thoughts. Definitely excited to start looking into these for myself and my partner. Debate is whether to tell him in advance and have him at the shoot too?? I see perks of both... maybe have to get two sets done! Haha!

Hope you ended up doing them grlnextdoor99!!

I don’t know how those photographers do it. Ordinary women made all hot and sexy would have me rock hard all day long!!!

It's called professionalism mate. If people are paying you good money for a service, that's what they expect, not to be perved over.

You could also have him in the photo shoot!

My wife and I have done this a lot with me being in them as well. It is really fun and no photographer is needed. We did probably a dozen in different themes but just used a point and shoot camera mounted on a tripod using the self-timer. You could do the same thing with a good cell phone and tripod too.

Just as an example of what I mean by "themes". We got dressed up and did a Bonnie and Clyde type photoshoot with an old truck. It does not have to be an old Western Bordello type photo shoot. Be creative!

As a hobbyist boudoir photographer, I know many women want the photos for themselves. Me, personally, it's a turn on knowing my photo or video is being taken. It really has nothing to do with the person it's being taken for and all about the exhibitionist in me knowing about its existence and enjoying exposing myself in that moment. Now don't get me wrong, there's a thrill in someone else possibly seeing them, but it's an unnecessary step in my arousal.

While taking boudoir photos it is very interesting to see how she grows through the shoot as well. You can actually see the confidence grow, you can see a woman become more in tune with herself, as in finding herself more beautiful than she had perceived herself to be prior to the shoot.

My wife had some done professionally they were great though she did say by the end of the shoot she felt so horny she nearly jumped the photographer. Cost $500 dollars back then which was expensive back in the 80’s.

My wife had a set done for our 25th anniversary. She found a great local photographer who offered it and had it done. The photographer had his own wife on hand to assist, brought in a female makeup artist, and encouraged Lisa to bring whomever she wanted to make her comfortable. Lisa asked for a pinup-type session and it came out fantastic. The final product was amazing. I felt so happy and proud of my beautiful sexy wife.
What the OP said about her husband though, makes me sad. I would hope that seeing his wife in some beautiful photos just for him, might stir some interest.

My lovely Lisa. Her photos were racy and sexy, but non-nude.
