I want to know the trick on how to shave without all of the irritation

Any help is appreciated! :rose:

I should clarify my question. I am aware that a "Brazilian style muff" is a waxing. However, I live in a very small town where there are no salons that offer this type of service. So...I did the next best thing...shave. I can tell you that it is not very comfortable to shave nor is it comfortable when your stubbles begin to grow back in. My question is...is there some trick that I need to know on how to have a smooth and slick muff without all of the side effects?

to the best of my knowledge, a brazillian is a wax-job, not a shave. There are professional places that will do this for you. I have no clue on the prices. Check various beauty places around you that offer waxing services - not all of them offer the option of Brazillian wax.

completely bare there

I started shaving earlier this year and it was a bitch at first. Did an online search for pubic grooming and came across an e-book called Hot Pink - and it is all about pubic grooming. Ended up buying a personal shaver from shavethere.com. Wasn't willing to dole out $40 to $50 bucks for a wax job each time! Make sure you use a new blade everytime you shave and shave everyday! My little personal shaver helps with the everyday shave though I still use a razor at times. The sensuous feelings I get from going bare - damn - makes the daily effort worth it. Wish I had shaved years earlier. Also - saw in another post that the Remington Wet 'n Dry shaver was recommended.

Look for the Hair Removal section in The Blank Manual sticky (also found at the top of the main How To page), and do an advanced search of thread titles in How To for 'shaving' or 'shave*' for all dates. There are a gazillion threads that detail the techniques and tools for a great shave.

Heat, a good razor, product, exfoliation, regular shaving and keeping the area relatively moisturized and cool/dry are your friends. When you shave regularly (like daily for awhile), the skin will get used to it, and you won't have a problem with itching or stubble. Some report good results with Jergens Shave Minimizing lotion, as well, though it takes 6+ weeks of daily use to get real results, IIRC. :)

Put some baby oil on the shaved area after you finish and for the next 2-3 days. This smoothes it and makes it easy for hairs to grow out without making red spots.

I went fully bare with a razor for years - then one day decided to go the whole hog with my top to bottom wax - yes it hurt but when my DH realized another woman had been touching me in forbidden zones - man I think he was turned on for weeks - I do it every now and then for a special treat however in between tend to "trim" with a set of hair clippers so that there is no regrowth - you don't get that fantastic smoothness but then you don't get that regrowth itch either

Before I found a salon in my area that does Brazillians, I used Magic Shaving Powder. It's a dipilitory that's made for black men to reduce bumps from shaving their beards. It's fantastic for the pubic area, and can be used as often as every couple days. I found it was much better than a razor for making me silky smooth. I couldn't find it at Wal-Mart, but was surprised to find it in my grocery store. You can also order it online. The 'beginner's' gentle cream version worked as well for me as the stronger powder.

I haven't tried it yet, but I heard that it helps to apply clear gel deoderant to the area after shaving. It is supposed to help with bumps and irritation.

I'll second this recommendation. Only takes about 5-7 minutes (depending on strength of product and skin/hair type) and just washes clean. Doesn't burn like other depillatories I've tried (though some have experienced burning so always test!). I use the kind with Aloe Vera so it's very gentle on the skin, too, and use an after shave gel made for the bikini area (don't remember the name off the top of my head). In between the Magic Powder use, I have an electric razor to keep things smooth if necessary and have no problems with bumps of any sort :)

The first 2-6 weeks of shaving an area that has never been shaved before will hurt.

However after a while your skin gets used to it and stops hurting. I've found that using sensitive skin shaving foam works well, it comes in moisturizing to so you can kill two birds sort of thing there. ;)

Honestly, if you can't find a salon to wax you, use the razor and the foam, it stops being a problem shortly. Though don't shave right before a date or sex, causes problems.
