Annoyed with his mom for interrupting his jerkin' session Zander stormed out of the house and headed towards Giles's shop, he knew that the Limey bastard usually had some decent books with pictures of succubi in them. He hurried down the street eyeing up each and every beautiful girl he saw, imagining them doing the monkey thang. He paused at a shop to buy a cup of coffee before hurrying on down the road. Zander skidded to a sudden halt as he saw Buffy, that was usual as he usually had to take a few minutes to adjust his pants and close his jaw whenever he saw her, it had been like that since he first saw her and crashed his skateboard. What really made him start though was the sight of Angel, he hadnt seen him for time and from the expressions on the face of riley this wasnt a happy meeting. Zander turned to leave when a painful fact intruded on his consciousness. In his abrupt halt he had poured boiling coffee on his crotch. "Aaahhhhhh...oh fuck fuck, shit" He jumped up and down pulling the hot material away from his cock, like an idiot he had decided to do without boxers, it made it easier to hide his customary erection.

Buffy heard the commotion outside and rushed out of the shop. "Xander, are you okay?," She said,"What happened?"

When he didnt say anything, she followed his gaze down the road a bit and what she saw mad her heart sink into her stomache. There was Riley and he was dangling from someone's hand-Angel's.

"Shit, could today get any worse," She thought as she took off down the street.

They didnt see her coming because they were too wrapped up in a stupid macho staring contest so her entrance was a bit of a surprise.

"Put him down," She told Angel when she got there,"Now! And then you two can explain to me just what the hell you think your doing. This doesnt exactly look like two old friends meeting out on the street."

She kept her gaze steady on both of them even though her heart was beating ninety miles an hour. So much for mid terms or anything else in her life. She was having trouble handling one of them and now she was faced with them both.

Whimpering in pain from his scalded balls Zander hopped into the shop and towards the bathroom. Once in there he filled the sink with cold water and lowered his broiled testicles into it. Unfortunately he had neglected to shut the bathroom door.

As soon as Riley had his feet down on the ground he looked at Buffy and then at Angel. He started to say something but saw Buffy raise his hand and then turn to Angel. His eyes went wide when he saw that then turned and walked over to the cafe, sitting down and ordered a coffee. When the coffee arrived he sat there and sipped it, all the while watching Angel and Buffy while they talked.

Buffy looked Angel up and down.
"So what's the story? Why did you come back? Was it to warn me of some danger or maybe you thought you needed to rough up Riley a bit to make your day."

She was having a hard time keeping herself composed. Angel's presence always unnerved her no matter how much she tried to not let it. She wondered if he knew how these intrusions into her life affected her. Just when she thought her life was going good and she and Riley were starting to feel comfortable he showed up.

They never ceased to amaze/annoy Anya. Drama, pain and general human being type stuff was far more difficult to deal with than when she was a vengance demon.

IC: Buffy was sitting in a chair at Xanders place and trying desperately to explain to him exactly how she felt.

"I dont know, Xander," She said,"Some days I swear they live to drive me nuts. If Riley is not going off into some snit than Angel is showing up and throwing my life all out of whack again. God, this being the slayer is really biting into my love life...not to mention everything else."

"I go from school to training to killing things. Sometimes I even get a little bit of studying done in there. Its like I am on one big hamster wheel that wont stop and I cant find a way off."

Shaking her head she says,"Sometimes I wonder if I'm not being selfish where Riley's concerned. He means so much to me but I feel I may be hurting him more than anything else."

"And now Angel is back in town and complicating things. So now Riley is even more insecure in the relationship than ever before. And I didnt even get a decent answer about why he came back into town."

Throwing up her hands in frustration, Buffy sinks back into the chair. "Am I making any sense at all here?," She said expasperated.

 

[Angelus]

Riley walked back into his room and threw himself onto his bed. He looked up at the ceiling and thought, How could my life be any more complicated that it is?

His life had changed too much from the moment that he had met Buffy, his life had been simple and orderly but Buffy was like a bomb and had blown everything sky high, throwing his life into disarray. He still hunted demons and vampires but now he didn't have the back up of the Initiative. Just then he heard a noise coming from the other side of his door and got up off his bed. The door then opened and Riley grabbed the person as soon as he walked through. The person looked up at him and Riley was surprised to see Oz looking up at him.

"What the hell are you doing here?" he asked.
"I needed a place to hide out. Something big is happening out there and I don't know what so I turned to the first person that I could find on short notice; you."
Riley looked at Oz with surprise and said, "Okay, tell me what is happening."
Oz walked over to a chair and said, "I think that you need to sit down for this."

 

[Stranger]

Zander

Zander smiles and moves over to crouch beside Buffy's chair "hey I worked as a barman remember, that was until my boss turned you into a cavegirl, so I'm used to listening especially to things that dont make sense." He patted her shoulder, "All I can say is that other people have worse problems, take me, this morning I spilt boiling coffee all over my crotch, now isnt that worse than having two men love you?" he grinned at her trying to take her mind off her problems.

 

[Isolde]

Buffy smiled at Xander in appreciation.
"Thanks," She said and really ment it,"But I still have the problem of what to do about Riley. I am tired of him getting hurt in all of this. I...I'm thinking of breaking it off and letting him get on with his life. I dont think I can handle watching him being torn apart inside day after day. I love him to much for that."

She sat back and sighed.
"Now does THAT make any sense?"

 

[Stranger]

Zander

Laughs "no, its fucking stupid" gives her a grin, "you do that and neither of you has a life left" stands and strikes a noble position "all hail the wisdom of Zander"

 

[Isolde]

Buffy looks up at Xander with a shocked look on her face and then breaks out laughing. It felt good. She had not had many chances for laughter after becoming the slayer and she could feel the tension break away.

"Xander, you are the best," She says as she looks at him in his silly pose,"Thanks...for everything. I think I am going to go find Riley and talk to him now."

Getting up from her chair, she gives Xander a smile and says,"Lets all meet at Gile's shop later on. Maybe we can even work in an average night on the town for once."

Waving good bye she walks out the door.
