But for the Future.

Nicole

OOC: sorry I've been busy job hunting the last couple of days....ugh...:)

IC: Nicole spent most of the morning arranging transportation and setting up her new Replicant recruits. Both were going to the midwest, one to Chicago, the other to Kansas City. There were apartments to secure and furnish, and jobs for both to arrange. They would both be at their destinations on Friday, ready to start their new lives.

Pulling out her remote, also the latest model SRZX Mote-AR 720, she checked out the latest replicant news. She didn't get too wrapped up with the INS's persuits, but like to keep abreast. She noted the arrest of one such replicant from an electronic store in Seattle, and thought about the poor ex-mayor, Lexi. Nicole wondered what had happened to her. Just then, her assistant buzzed her and told her she had a visitor.

"Send him in." she answered, putting away her remote. No need for Steven to see what she was reading about. She then closed her files on her recruits, and was putting them away when Steven entered her office.

Steven:

"Um, Hi Nicole... I'm sorry to disturbe you during work hours, but... Something really wierds just happened... And don't take this the wrong way, but it made me think of you for some reason..." Steven walked in, and stood in front of her desk.

Seth Daikannon

It had been quite a day. Things were really beginning to wrap up on the new Fido model. Seth had been comparing a batch of computer readouts with some notes on a clip-board for awhile when he heard the door activate.

As he expected, it was Mrs. Campbell, dropping off the reports for reviewing. Seth had only been employed at Replapet for a few weeks but he was fitting in with no problems. Many of the staff were put off by his age, but they couldn’t argue about his intelligence. Mrs. C. never seemed to give his young age a second thought. Only one of the reasons why he liked working for her.

After discussing the overheating wire problems in the chest cavity, and the solution Seth had come up with, she was heading home for the night. As she left his corner of designated lab space, he couldn’t help but notice her figure. She may have been a bit more than ten years older than Seth, but neither her personality nor her body showed any signs.

He turned his thoughts back to his buddy Fido, and reached forearm deep into the model dog, tinkering with the positioning of some sensor clusters.

"Guess it is that time of the day. Ah well, least I have some bedside reading material for tonight," he thought as he slipped the packet into his backpack. Shouldering his pack, he gave the Fido model a friendly pat on the head and shut down the lab, flicked off the lights.

"Stay boy, stay, and I'll see ya in the morning." With that, and a chuckle, he stepped out of his mad lab.

The moment Steven walked into the room, she felt a strange warmth about her. Did she really care about this man?

"Come on in, Steven. Have a seat." she smiled warmly at him as she motioned to the chair in front of her desk. "Tell me what's on your mind."

Relaxing in her chair, she waited for him to respond.

Steven:

"I, you see... I just hired a new employee, and... Um... Er..." Steven wasn't even making sence to himself, but he just blurted out. "I want you to kiss me Nicole..." He blushed and bit his lower lip.

Aileen O'Shaugnessy

She had been storing notes in her work subdirectory on the file Miss Campbell had given her for more than an hour. The project was an exciting one and she felt she could add much to the team.

Her reverie was broken when her orders began arriving. She directed the men where to place her furniture, placing her computer units in their proper places, happy with her choices. She felt excitement building and did nothing to dampen down the chemicals producing the effect.

She began unpacking items for her kitchen and bath, arranging flower vases, fluffing pillows.

She thanked the deliverymen and began unpacking her new clothes, trying them on to see how they were. She was so glad she would never have weight gain, cramps, the mess of the day-to-day problems of being a woman, but took delight in the feminine frills.

Looking around the apartment, she took satisfaction in a job well done. Now, what to do about the bounty hunter.

She sat on her new sofa, accessing the computer with her new infrared eye lenses. She was dismayed at the INS' ability to detect her intrusion but satisfied they had not learned enough to catch her. She broke the connection by blinking her eyes, then sat long into the night contemplating her next moves.

Nicole rose from her seat and moved around her desk in one fluid movement. She embraced Steven and gave him a passionate kiss.

Breaking away after a moment, she asked,

"What's you hiring a new employee have to do needing a kiss from me?"

Steven:

Giving Nicole a stary eyed look as he drew a deep breath, Steve smiled broadly. "The new employee is a replicant, she's Lexi Huntington..." Steven said, bare above a whisper. Steven caught Nicole's eyes then, and nodded as he licked his lips.

Nicole

"Lexi Huntington! You've got to be kidding!" Nicole pushed back from him for a moment. "Do you realize you've put you and your company at risk?"

Nicole quickly went round her desk and pulled out her remote. Pushing a few buttons, she retrieved the information she'd just been reading.

"Look at this. There's obviously someone tracking her down and knows she's still in Seattle. "I hope she's changed her appearance. These bounty hunters are pretty good at what they do."

Steven:

"I know that, don't you think I know what sort of trouble this could bring? I... I just couldn't turn her away, she needs help... I've heard the stories of what they do to them when they capture them... I wouldn't wish that sort of thing even on an enemy..." Steven paused, touched the back of his hand to his lips, then added. "I need your help..."

Later...

Seth made his way straight home to his pad in the Pearlgate Towers. It was a nice place, especially with his wing being new. People were moving in every day, it wasn't uncommon to see moving vans parked out in front of the main entrance. It's proximity to Replapet made it perfect for employees, heck, even the co-owner of the company lived here. If his memory served him right, and it usually did, she was up a few floors. It was probably a lot nicer up there.

After a quick shower, Seth dressed in black jeans, a black t shirt and a blue shirt with japanese symbols on it. He slid in an old disc of 3 Doors Down, and had to immediately turn down the blasting volume to a better level. "Whoa."

He took the plans out of his pack and spread them out on his table. After an hour or so, his stomach interrupted him with a twist and a growl.

"Hmm, tonights a take out night. Chinese. Yeah, thats the ticket."

Seth slides on his favorite pair of Lazer specs. Shades really, with strip of blue laser running along the top edge. It throws a cool blue along his forehead, also everything through the shades took on an azure, watery apperance.

He dims the lights and heads out into the evening to grab some chicken and garlic sauce.

"Steven, there's something I must tell you before we go any further." Nicole stated matter in factly. She crossed the room and locked her office door. "The reason I haven't wanted to get involved with anyone, is because I too am a replicant."

She paused a moment to let that sink in. When she thought he comprehended, she continued.

"Not only am I a replicant, but what I do here is help the newly developed replicants coming out of Silcon Valley to set up and establish themselves into society. I've been doing this a very long time."

Steven:

Smiling, Steven stood up and walked over to Nicole. "I knew, somehow I just knew... And you know, it makes no diference to me Nicole..." He reached his arms around her waist and looked deeply into her eyes.

Nicole

Nicole relaxed in his arms, relieved she gotten that off her chest. She didn't want a repeat of her last attempt at a relationship. It had ended so horribly. Perhaps this time she could actually find happiness in a relationship. Tears began to well up as she gazed at his kind face.

After they stood there for sometime, Nicole broke the moment.

"So now that that's out of the way, what can I do to help?" Nicole asked him.

Steven:

"You said there was a repo after her... Help me keep him from finding Lexi for starters... She wants to work for Replapet, and I frankly think she would make the perfect addition to the company... I'm commited to this now, and if she's found out, its not only her who's in danger, but everyone who knows..." Steven was starting to really realize how much trouble this could bring down on him, and he was starting to feel queezy.

Nicole

"Of course I will, Steven. I have friends that can help as well. There's a whole underground movement that can assist us. I'll contact them as soon as I can. The first thing we need to do, is locate this bounty hunter after Lexi.....and perhaps try to make it look like Lexi has left Seattle somehow....."

Steven:

"This is great, thank you Nicole. I... You don't know how much your help means to me..." Steven stopped for a moment. "Yes, next, we need to find this repo guy... He's the biggest threat at the moment... But... How?" Steven had no idea what to do next.

Nicole

"Let me make some phone calls this afternoon. Any kind of technology he as access to.....we do." Nicole states. "I'm sure I can get ahold of someone in a couple of hours."

Steven:

"Okay, let me come by your place tonight, after work, so we can share... What we've dug up, okay?" Steven smiled as his eyes drifted over Nicole's body, then back up to her face. He blushed as they caught each other in a stare for a moment, then he lowered his head, and shifted on his feet.

"Sure.....what time will you be there?" Nicole asked, digging into her purse. "Here's a key to my apartment."

Steven:

Taking the key she offered him, Steven slipped it into his pocket, a grin spreading across his lips as he did. "I can be over as early as seven." He said, his smile still dominating his face.

Steven:

"Seven..." Steven said as he slipped out of Nicole's office. He returned to his office, a constant smile plastered on his lips as the day went by, it was six fifty when he got up to leave. He was on the road less than five minutes later, heading to Nicole's apartment.

Nicole

Nicole made those phone calls, the company promising to have an investigor on it by nine o'clock in the morning. They were rather excited about the opportunity to help Seattle's former mayor. Though she'd gotten caught, she'd been the furthest a replicant had ever gotten on their own....and the company wanted to have a hand in her rescue.....if they could, that is. This business could get rather nasty in the end, and Nicole really didn't want a part of that.

But a part of it she was, whether she liked it or not. She didn't like all this 'double oh seven' bullshit.....she was glad to have the 'company' behind her on this.

Steven was another matter.....she still wondered what the hell she was doing, getting involved with another human.

Nicole sighed a big sigh, as she left the office at about 6:30pm. She'd barely get home before Steven arrived if she hadn't already planned this excursion.

Steven:

Walking up to the door to Nicole's apartment, Steven pulled the key she'd given him from his pocket and slid it into the key hole. Opening the door, he peeked in, calling. "Nicole? Hello?"
