...But what does the chicken signify?

It sort of reminds me of the time I went on an almost date freshman year in college to see Waiting For Godot.

Nothing really happened that night either. :)
 
comedy? Satire? WTF is it supposed to be? I'm confused!
 
The chicken signifies mans need to explore, our need to learn. We won't rest until we get to other side.

Or maybe the chicken is death and getting to other side is as simple as chicken afterlife.

I saw it as rebirth. I hope she washed her hands afterward. Raw chicken can be nasty. :)
 
She demonstrated attachment to it. I think it became a baby at some point. Then she placed herself in it's place, collared and handcuffed, with ugly forced smile. And at the end, she indeed died on the butcher's table. But surely, that's just one shallow interpretation.

As an aside I love the art as a thin veil for plain exhibitionism. And it's real funny to see the public desperately trying to hold straight and thoughtful faces.
