buying new toys

my quick once over of the blank manual shows no discussion of preferred sites for these purchases, so this would be a good candidate for addition.

btw: did you know that amazon sells some? :>

Babeland is generally recommended, from what I've seen. They have a huge selection, but are credit card only. I don't have a credit card. (shakes fist)

Amazon also sells toys.

If you happen to want to buy from a Canadian seller, I in my hunts for Canadian toy sellers found TrinityRomance.com (all high end toys) and AdultToyShop.com (small selection but they happened to have what I wanted!). I'm fickle about that... ordering from Canada (as a Canadian) always has cheaper shipping, FASTER shipping (none of this three months later... business), but there aren't a lot of Canadian toy stores I've found.

I think most adult shops ship discreetly... it's pretty well a given.

Both Literotica's shop and Adam and Eve ship discretely. I ordered something from Literotica's interface that came from a company called Eldorado in Colorado - was shipped promptly and nondescriptly, and could easily have been mistaken for something far more mundane!

Good luck and happy hunting!

Babeland is great, but it's also extremely expensive. For instance, they sell the plain Hitachi Magic Wand for $54, when it's like $35 elsewhere. For $55 elsewhere, you can get the wand, two great attachments AND shipping.

Personally, I figure out what I want to buy, then see which reputable seller has the best total price (including shipping). Not that I care, but every site I've bought from (including eBay sellers) has discreet packaging and billing; customers demand it.

If I wanted to buy something really expensive or that I was unsure about, I'd go with Adam & Eve because they have middle-of-the-road prices and a 100% satisfaction guarantee (I've never seen that elsewhere).

But I always do a lot of research beforehand and buy toys that are tried and true, so I don't have a problem price shopping.

It's been a while since I have purchased anything, but AdultDVDEmpire was always my preferred vendor. They ship discreetly to my door (they don't, or at least didn't, use USPS), have been one of the fastest shippers, and have a huge selection. I don't remember much else, but I always do a lot of shopping around before I buy. They are probably worth a look.

I had my own criteria when it came to toy shopping (Canadian retailer, OR cheap shipping, Paypal, reasonable price compared to other places) and ended up getting the best price for the toy I wanted anyway because it was on sale. :D I don't just go 'hey, I want that, ker-purchase!' but some people want things all in one place and they want them now. I figure if someone's the type to shop around, they'll be shopping around rather than looking in a thread for one place to get everything.

I'm very anal. Before I got my first toy I spent probably two weeks checking out every single review I could find on the internet for the one I was interested in, and then trying to find a store that fit my criteria, and then lining up the approximate shipping arrival date with a point in time I would be off work. I would never expect anyone else to be this obsessive... but I figure if someone is, they'll be doing the legwork themselves with Google. ;)

(checks out Adam and Eve regardless) Oh hey, reasonable shipping to Canada and they take Paypal! I won't buy from the States though because of a certain paranoia about what will appear on the customs slip and a shared mailbox. Has anyone ordered from them internationally?

It might help to know what type of toys you are looking for. There are mainstream toy sites, and then there are more fetishy toy sites. It all depends what you want.

I second (or third?) the Babeland suggestion. I'm not saying this will happen every time, but I just ordered a few things from Babeland and the most expensive item magically dropped its price by about 40% when I placed my order. Mwah ha ha! I've also ordered from the Stockroom, and their packaging is discreet as well.

Another thing to consider is after-purchase mailers. I don't know if companies still do this (Stockroom and Babeland don't), but about ten years ago I had a bad experience with this (I think it was Grand Opening... but it was a long time ago, so I might be wrong). The packaging was discreet, but they kept sending flyers through the mail about their sales! I might have failed to check a box on the website, but man, it was awful; I panicked each time my parents stopped by and "did me a favor" by grabbing my mail on the way in.

Some poor soul must have received some interesting junk mail after I left that house....

I've gotten 90% of mine at amazon.com. Much cheaper than more stores online or in person shopping.

Nice thanks for all the tips guys an gals. :)

I am sure me and the wife will have some fun doing some shopping tonight. :)

Evening,

Setting discretion aside for a second, what is everyone's thoughts on buying items from adult retail stores? I have never been to one, so I am just curious what others think about them.

Thank you.

They're usually a lot more expensive with a far smaller selection. I'll go to Babeland and such to look at toys and feel lubes (they have everything out to feel) but then I take what I learn and buy online.

Last time we went some pervy guy was watching everything we bought lol. So we decided to buy online this round for toys. With the places that was linked they are a lot cheaper then what we seen in the walk in shops.

I use Adam and Eve (adameve.com). Never had a problem, shipping was discreet enough to go to my dorm's front desk in college without any issue, and they're always throwing in free gifts and discount coupons etc. A couple of times I've liked the "free gift" toy better than the toy I actually bought! :D

You know, it's been years since I've been in a brick and mortar porn shop that had a guy working the counter. Maybe they just find girls creep the customers out less. But yeah, online is nice, except for not being able to take a closer look at the merchandise, just like with anything else you buy online.

But yeah, Amazon sells freaking everything it seems like.

I'm willing to bet women sell more toys to both men and women on the whole.

For me, going in a good store to see relative size, materials, intensity, etc., then buying online is the best of both worlds.

I ordered from Adam & Eve one time and got slammed for a year with tons of snail mail spam from them. Was finally able to get them to stop.
