S finally gave me my ring today . I'm incredibly excited about it, even though it is a little big. I told that woman at the store I was a nine, but she insisted that my fingers were bigger than that and that I was a 9.5.

Seriously, May has been crazy for me so far. I'm getting married, I'm graduating, I celebrated my birthday and I just got an awesome summer job. I'll also see my parents again which hasn't happened in about a year and a half.

Yup. I think that industry did a really good job creating the diamond myth. There are two really tiny diamonds in my ring, but they're so small you can barely see them, and they don't influence the price much at all.

FYI, my spider bite seems to be on the mend now, and not oozing strange yellow liquids.

Your ring is beautiful, and I agree that diamonds are over priced. I was very fortunate to have my grandmother's engagement ring. It had a fairly large diamond in it, but the stone sports a rather large (visable to the naked eye) inclusion. Also, because the stone was cut so long ago, it doesn't have the same 'bling' quality as modern stones. Still, it is a lovely ring, and I was thrilled to be able to give it to my wife. Like cars, I can't see much point in buying new diamonds.

BTW, even though it will be a small, simple affair, I hope you'll share some pix of your wedding...
