Cafe Nightshade

Trevor rushed through the basements and sub-basements at breakneck speed.

He knew he was in trouble, but there were certain steps he could take to minimize the damage this creature could do. The first thing he needed to do was seal the beast beneath the club. Fortunately, there was only one entrance/exit; the "do not enter" door up top. All he needed to do was seal it from the outside, then will himself back in to battle the monster. From there he could spirit himself and the beast to the Carnival...

He was so busy going through his mental checklist that he almost missed the doorway to the club. He threw it open and was greeted by a pascal of customers making their way determinetly towards the door.

Aw shit, now what do they want?

J.W.C (Tony) Birch

I resolutely followed Ms. Byrnes to where Trevor had earlier disappeared to. Ms. Byrnes’ companion was following closely at our heels. I noticed that she had a pretty neck. That was when I saw the stone. A summoning stone. If I had the time, I’d check it more closely. A summoning stone in untrained hands can be more dangerous to the summoner than to the intended victim.

The familiar feeling a demon on this plane of existence was getting stronger with each step. I sense dread now, even though I’d call up demons and their sycophants at any time. But I’ve been always careful to put tight limits and reins whenever I summon. Can’t have a free demon running around and ruining the buffet table.

And the people in this club, make no mistake about it, was the buffet table.

As I reached the door when Mr. Dallas was frantically trying to close the door to the inner sanctum.

I asked, ‘Need some help?’

"Need some help?"

Trevor looked at Tony, dumbfounded. Then he quickly slammed the door behind him, locked it, and produced two vials from the inner pockets of his sports coat. After chanting an ancient voodoo rite, he dripped a drop of baboon blood on the doorknob and smeared pure essence of moonlight around the doorframe.

The charm securly in place, Trevor turned back to Tony and his menagerie.

"Yes. Yes, I could use some help. In fact, I think we all need as much help as we can get. Tell me, can you shift through this doorway?"

Angelina

So the big Daddy wants to play nice huh? Well that was ok by Angelina. She was just about to lick her lips and give him the ole "I'm just an innoncent little girl who needs your money, I mean protection" look when she felt something. It felt very much like having your nipples twisted roughly, and not in the good way. Hot and cold passed through her brain and the scent of power made the bad daddy in front of her look like Arnold in "Kindergarten Cop." She glanced around and decided the best place to be would be hiding behind badass here. She ducked around his back and poked a wary head out from behind his back to scope out the danger.

"Uh oh, me'sa thinks dis gonna git ugly...."

‘Yes. Yes, I could use some help. In fact, I think we all need as much help as we can get. Tell me, can you shift through this doorway?’

I shook my head and replied, ‘No, I can’t. But I may have some associates who can. First, can you tell us what the hubbub is all about. I know that you felt the same thing as we did just now.’ I looked around seeing if anyone else will answer Mr. Dallas’ question.

I waited for a suitable reply, as I cannot simply summon without knowing a little bit about what was behind door number 1. Besides, the other patrons might get the wrong impression of me.

Kass:
She watched as Trevor placed his charm on the door, she recognized it as a powerful spell, but the exact incantation was completely unfamiliar. This evening was getting better and better! Then she heard the clown's comments to the man that had come with her and Chlöe: shift through the doorway? She was certain she had heard Trevor correctly, and looked at the other man with interest glowing in her eyes: just what sort of twisted fucks had she gotten involved with? Kass looked forward to finding out.

"That sensation you all felt? That, my friends, was the arrival of what may quite possibly be the most powerful daemon that has ever existed, and it is currently running amok in my basement. God only knows how it got there" No need telling them all my employers wrought this nightmare "but the important thing is that we destroy its coporeal being and send it back to hell. The lower levels are protected by enchantments; this door is the only place it may escape. Unfortunately it needed to be sealed from the outside, making entrance difficult."

He glanced at the faces of his comrades, trying to deduce what they were thinking. When his eyes fell on Kass, he noticed the amulet around her neck for the first time. It took him a moment to recognize it.

By the moon! It's a summoning stone!

He tried not to let his eyes linger, but couldn't help himself. A girl, a mere mortal, in posession of such power! It was a wonder she hadn't destroyed herself yet.

He tore his stare from the stone long and turned his attention back to the group.

"If you can't phase through it may not be a problem, provided I can make it back to my armory before the daemon gets to me."

What the hell am I getting myself into, Chlöe thought, hearing Trevor, seeing the cool nonchalant poise of the tall fellow and looking the pleased look in Kass's eyes… She looked like an 8-year-old on a candy shop!

She had to admit though, that this was all pretty exciting, and excitement was the only reason she had come here in the first place, so quickly all her anger towards the psycho clown vanished to give place to her purest predatory instincts.

"If its an armory you're in need, I've got my own carry-on parked up front... and there isn't only conventional weaponry in there, either... Just name what you want."

ooc:eek:k it's time for me to come in!

ic:zerro

*meanwhile outside of the cafe...an shadow appears with an katana....*"this is the place.i'm not sure what is pulling me here but...maybe i can lift this curse.''just then the man fellt an great surge of evil.''what the hell was that!?!damn, this is weird,i gotta find the owner of this place....maybe tellapathacy will work.''the warrior stood there thinking a hard as he could,''please hear my thoughts whear are you please answear.come on somebody answear!''i'll answear you!you pathetic mutt!hahahaha come on in!you'll be sorrrrrry!!!"

''arrrg!what was that!?!i'll try again,hello?is someone here?''

Trevor thought for a second before replying.

"Bring it all. Anything you can carry. In fact, Kass, if you don't mind, go with her and carry what she can't."

He glanced back at the doorway.

"There's a few things in my place you probably can't supply, though. Unless, that is, you have close ties to the occult."

He reached deep into his inside breast pocket.

"Well Tony, I guess you're finally going to see the Joker's Deck in action."

Ranken

Ranken walked down the street. he could feel the comfortable sway of his heavily weighed down jacked and item on straps. he looked across the street and say some man looking confused, maybe dazed. and he had drawn a sword.... Ranken spoke in his scratchy gruff voice to himself. "stoners. maybe this is the right place. the last sighting of.... whats her name? Kass.... was said to be in the weird district...." Ranken rubbed the stubble on his chin and looked up. there was nothing that stood out here except one building, dimly lit with music billowing out of it. Ranken looked in. "hmm good enough place to start as any" Ranken opened the door and took in the scene. dancers, goths, many people watching from the sides.... there were entirely too many people here. people ment unknown variables. and the more of those, the more uncomfortable he was. this girl could be anywhere. Ranken stepped in and found a seat. looking around the room for the girl in the picture.

‘OK. I’ll call my associates and bring them on the other side of the door. Here goes nothing.’

I locked my wrist together, bringing to two stones on my bracelet and watch in contact. I silently incant the words, ‘Kami sudah di Panggil, Apa yang Tuan nak?’ ‘Pergi ke sana dan tengok apahal yang sedang berlaku.’

Suddenly, my vision blurred and then I was looking at an empty hallway through red eyes. The sensation was overpowering. I continued walking on, until I saw the Daemon.

Some idiot had released a Demon Lord, as demons do have ranks like humans. And the Daemon had been unleashed without any constraints.

I shouted a yell to the Daemon, the guttural sound emanating from my mouth. I leapt into the air, claws extended, hoping to strike before the Daemon knew that he was being challenged.

The Daemon turned around quickly when the first claws dug deep in his back. Like someone swatting an unwelcome fly away, he threw me hard against the wall. My cohort took this advantage to take a bite out of his legs. This made him angrier. He kicked so hard that his foot went through the demon like it was made out of paper. While trying to shake the pieces loose, I took the opportunity to lunge on his back and stick my claws in as hard as I could.

On reflection, it would have been a funny scene to see the Daemon hopping around with one of his arms trying to grab what was on his back and one leg up in the air trying to shake the remains off. But forgive me if I fail to laugh at the seriousness of the situation.

My vision blurred once again. I was still standing, although slightly out of breath, looking at Mr. Dallas, and said, ‘Someone unleashed a Demon Lord, and he is kicking my ass. I don’t know how long I can hold him…’

"Shit. There's not enough time to wait for Kass and Chloe...I'll have to leave them a note."

He placed his palm firmly against the centre of the door and murmured under his breath. Then he took a memo pad out of his pants pocket and a pen out of the other. After scribbling a short note which consisted of "Chloe & Kass- Touch the doorknob and stand back. The portal will stay open for five minutes. Hurry through and try not to let anyone follow you. Love, Trevor." he grabbed hold of Tony's arm.

"Hold on tight..."

Trevor closed his eyes and made a circle in the air with his upturned palm. A bright, technicolor light eminated from his hand and he walked easily through the closed door, Tony in tow.

J.W.C (Tony) Birch

I felt a shift in my being as Mr. Dallas took my hand and re-appeared on the other side of the door. I could still hear the sound of one my associates, which meant that we still have a little time left to really think through what we were going to do. Especially once my associate had been disposed off.

I can only summon once a day, so I would be pretty much useless in a fight.

‘Trevor, my demon is weakening. I do hope that the others will hurry up…’

Ranken

Ranken found her. she was by a door. he kept her eye on her. she would not get away now....

he walked away once again searchin for the bounty hunter, finnaly seeing him he walked over and simply said,''you're a bounty hunter?''

Ranken

Ranken looked up at the man he assumed was stoned earlier. "bounty hunter? what gives you that idea? just sitting here. enjoying the music. thats all. join me if you want."

oldest trick in the book. ask someone to join you, or explin something and they assumed you weren't what they were looking for.

Trevor started frantically looking down the dimly lit hallways.

"Okay...there are about thirty or so levels beneath the club. My armory is on the 12th. And from what I understand, the daemon's pretty damn close. I guess that means we have to travel by the box..."

He grasped his tarot deck firmly in his left hand. Then, making flambouyant motions with his right, he drew a card from the centre of the deck.

I call upon...the Riddle Box!!

He flung the card down by his feet. As soon as it touched the ground, a large green jack-in-the-box lept from the front and hovered in front of him.

What lies within the Riddle Box?
Turn the crank and find your fate

Trevor reached out and grabbed the handle. As he began to crank, music started eminating from the box. Not the usual "pop goes the weasel," but the ominous strains of the funeral march.

Suddenly the top sprang open and a hideous joker's head on a spring popped up. It grinned at Trevor and Tony, revealing rows of sharp teeth and a serpent's tounge.

"What do you want?" the creature asked.

"Safe passage to my armory. And then back to here."

"Hmm...not difficult. Very well then!"

The thing rocketed back into the box as the crank began to spin by itself...faster and faster...until the top sprang open again and sucked them both into a whirling vortex.

They fell through the top, then down a tunnel lined with the unearthly light of the souls of the dead...the souls of those who caused pain to others in their lifetime...

...then they were in Trevor's armory. As Tony examined the room, he could see hundreds of arcane relics and artifacts from the forgotten realm strewn about the place.

Trevor started to hunt through the piles. "Take what you need and tell me when you're ready."

now the kid was pissed''i lived for 2000 years and thats oldest and most stupid trick in the book!''the kid grabed the bounty huter and said''listen pal!if you know somthing i don' about this place and i need to know what!''the kids eyes started to glow and his puple started to thin''now what in the name of the nerra clan is going on here!?!''

Ranken

Ranken took the young guys arms off him and pulled out a Colt Commander. Pressing it into the boys ribs he spoke again softly and quietly. "calm down before you kill yourself, you asked. i answered. now, i don't need trouble from a hoped up guy like you. 2000 years old. right. now, turn around, step away, and forget me"

the kid drew his sword''i dare you to kill me....it will not effect me''the kid swung the sword so he can ittemidate the hunter

Ranken

Ranken smiled at the young guy. "i don't have to fight you, several bouncers don't like the looks of you waving that sword around, and they are headed this way."

Ranken gestured to the four large bouncers only a few meters away by now and looked back at the strange man. "i think you just solved my problem for me. thanks."

"heh come on''before he can even move the boy was shot 22 times in the head"hmmph his fault!"but before the bounty hunter can turn away te kid was got right back up!!!!he slightly turned his head and said i told you now are you going to help me or not?

Zolt

Zolt closed his eyes and let his mind travel the arcane pathways, searching for the source of pure evil he had felt. The little girl was hiding behind him and he extended his shadow over her, concealing her to normal eyes.

His consciousness slid over the group assembled by the door. The owner of the club had sealed it and was talking to the others. Two women left but the Clown couldn't hold his impatience and grabbing the other man by the hand shifted away. Zolt was impressed. He didn't know this Trevor fellow had such power. Interesting. He caught himself before wandering off into his musings. 'Too much time spent on your own' he thought to himself.

Suddenly he found it. The Daemon Lord. It was powerful, one of the Leading Three, only a few rungs under the Great Master in the hierarchy of evil. He was assailed by other demons, which was strange. No matter, if the Clown is in there, he will need help.

Zolt turned around to face the little girl and knelt on the floor, bringing himself at eye level with her. "Listen little one, I have to do something about this. I have cast a charm upon you and you will not be seen by any, nor harmed. Wait here and I shall come back for you." He then straightened up and swiftly moved towards the shadows to rejoin with the Clown.

Chloë Byrnes

Chloe opened the Jaguar's trunk to reveal an impressive arsenal inside: amidst strips of explosives, hand grenades, M-16 rifles, machine guns, electric blasting caps, there was actually a rocker launcher and a couple of flame-throwers. A prototype water hand-cannon was lined up with the rest of the artillery. With a grin stamped in her face, Chloe began to choose what to carry, for there was obviously more there than two women could possibly carry.

"OK, Kass, now you know I'm not a fashion model... Take whatever you want to, just leave the rocket launcher, I don't think Trevor would like to have a thermonuclear explosion on his joint".

As she was filling a Gucci bag with all kinds of ammunition, detonators and Semtex plastic explosives, with a flame thrower and two machine guns already hanging from her shoulders, she heard the 22 shots fired from inside the café. With a wicked sparkle in her eye, Chloe turned to Kass and said "Well, have you ever used any of these? Looks like you're going to have to learn, the party is starting without us!" She picked up an automated prototype revolver, showed her companion how it worked and gave it to her, grabbing two for herself.

"Let's go Kass, we're missing all the fun"
