hehehe...hopefully I'll get around learning how to work that thing.....help anybody?

sure thing fleur, but first you have to make 65 more posts... gotta have 100 before you can put up an av. once you are there, then it is a matter of having the picture and making it teeny tiny to fit into the size limitation 150 pixel by 150 pixel of Lit.

Mercy, not only is it the humidity, but it is also the smells of spices and flowers and such in the air. Flying from Beijing to Malaysia/Singapore.... I always notice it.

RH, did you get affected by the demontration in DC? I heard key bridge was blocked. At least it wasn't as affected as in SF.

I wasn't personally affected, since I don't commute into downtown DC. It was apparently a pain for some, but there are lots of ways to get into DC other than via the Key Bridge...so it's not like blocking the Golden Gate, which forces all those poor Marin County commuters to drive around the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and then the Oakland Bay Bridge as an alternative.

In general, I believe that the protests here have been relatively low-key compared to what they could be--and that, as usual, the authorities are being excessively paranoid about them.

Not to inject politics into this pleasant thread, but does anyone else feel that they've been affected by the heightened sense of security now that military action against Iraq has started? I'm especially curious about folks in Asia--are any governments over there stepping up security against potential terrorism, or is it pretty much the same as it's been since after 9/11?

On a happier thought--hope you all enjoy your day/night and indulge in plenty of recreation!

Boy is it hot here...

Heading to Hong Kong in the morning....the air here is hot and heavy, loads of tropical rain in the evenings!

Wish Ask for more is having a good time in HK. Hope he is careful with the pneumonia outbreak there.

Things aren't as bad as everyone thinks! The virus is not super contagious, and is being contained quite well in HK, still less than 300 people with it after more than two weeks. And now they've identified it and found drugs to help combat it so I'm sure it'll be sorted out soon!

Sheesh, you lot musta had busy weekends...

Well Mia's away for a week so we need a girl to carry on her tradition of flirting with everyone ;)

Come on girls, do it for your fellow asians! :D

Hello

Hi... I've just been pointed in the direction of this thread, so I thought I'd better add myself...

I'm 28, male, British and live in Hong Kong...

That'll do for starters I think :)

welcome Deefer.... where in the New Territories do you live?

I do believe that Ask for More is currently visiting Hong Kong.

In answer to your question RomanHans...... I haven't been travelling at all, so I can't say much for airport security, but I have noticed that there is a hell of a lot more security in the embassy district of Beijing with streets that are normally open now closed except for cars with Diplo plates.

It could be the Iraq situation, or more problems with North Korean asylum seekers. I heard that a bunch of "foreigners" were going to be allowed to do an anti-war protest yesterday in a public park.......don't know if it happened.... and would not have been interested in joining. The PRC newspaper reporting has been pretty much parotting Iraqi propaganda, but I hear the TV reporting has been more balanced and equal with a lot of overseas feeds. Course, I get BBC and CNN here... so I didn't really pay attention to the local news.

and that there is your Beijing update..... next....

Indeed I am currently visiting Hong Kong....and treading with caution because of pneumonia too!

Its a bit cold here though....gave me a shock when I stepped off the plane....I'd left some warmer gear in malaysia anticipating hot temperatures. Oh well!

Spent nearly 100 pounds yesterday shopping. This place is just too tempting ;)

Eh, I shop everywhere! More often than not the cheapest stuff is in Mong Kok though. Shopping on the island can get expensive
