Gusty,
I wish but I can't. Due to the bird flu in HK, we can't bring those up north.

That was then...... now all I can eat here is microwaved brocolli...... :(

That was the Shatin 10000 buddha temple. It was supposed to have 10000 buddha built along the temple
I remembered walking up those long whining steps panting like carzy.:p

Love you handsome pic erc, very cute! :D Really nice to see you again.

Ahem... thank you ;)

It took me almost 25 mins to get up on those steps.... although it was fun to watch all those Lo Han's statutes and it was fun.

Besides, it was close to where I lived, all I needed was a 7 min bus drive and I would be at the train station.

The problem for HK these days are the air pollution. Due to the rapid growth in industry and power plants in the Zhu Jiang's basin, this is what we see in HK during sunny days.

Can't be sunny everyday I guess.. :):) Food pics always great to post. ( Thanks ! ) :D I'm sure you were stuffed everyday. ( Hah hahahaha :p  ) :D ) Were you?

erc, thanks so much for the pics of my old home town... it certainly brings back a ton of memories....

and thanks for the cute pic of you in Central Square with all the Fillipinas ;)

that view that Gusty just posted minus the pidgeons on my office windowsill is exactly what I am looking at right now, however we seem to have grown a few new buildings and cranes in the past 6 months!!!

good to see you back erc....

hello hong
nice to see you again too. My question... what is the results of all those pigeons? Roast? soup? steamed ?
Is the avatar was what you were doing to t hose pigeons? :eek

gusty,
I wasn't really stuffed most of the time. I was actually walking a lot in HK islands and those hilly walks burnt quite some calories. :D
I wish I was stuffing something else besides my stomach (no I don't mean someone else's stomach either)

now I am back home. And it is snowing today..... with temp of - 6 C brrrrr.....

Hello everyone,

Do you think a banana tree would look like a good Christmas tree if I put lights on it?

:D
Mia
(getting excited about Christmas!)

Now how many of us can get something to eat from a christmas tree? :D

You can get some decoration that can be eated like chocolate or candies. After new year, pick those decorations and eat them...

banana is good for you too :p

Beijing Christmas

Merry Christmas from Beijing to all our Asian friends on Lit...

I thought that this rendering of the 12 days of Christmas was sorta cool..... as well as the Chinese Santa!! ;)

To spare your eyes, here are the words (and commentary)

On the Twelfth day of Christmas My True Love gave to me:

12 Chuan'rs a-roasting (lamb kebabs with central asian spices)
11 Cans of Yanjing (our local Beiing beer)
10 Lao Tou spitting (literally old heads.... old men... sorta common here  )
9 ayi's mopping (aunties... polite term for maids)
8 drills a-drilling (the construction never ends)
7 dust storms blowing (yep- have those too... Gobi sand!)
6 cabbies hongking (total madness on the roads!)
5 D-V-D's (pirate copies at a $1 a pop :D )
4 stolen bikes (old beat up ones - no loss)
3 mao pins (gotta have some kicking around)
2 Kao ya (Peking Duck!!!... greasy and soooooo tasty!! :D)

and the Insiders Guide to Beijing ( a very well put together and funny little book on shit to do here!! )

cool huh?? ;)
