The weather is HOT here and then suddenly it rains HARD. The malls are all decked out in fake evergreens and blinking lights and shoppers are queuing up to buy buy buy, keep the economy afloat. I'm going to spend Christmas with my family--we agreed not to do expensive gifts, just simple ones, this year, and try to find the real spirit of the season.

Just spent the holidays in Sydney, close to Chinatown. There are so many Asians down under! After a while, I began to wonder what real Aussie food is like because we were eating mostly Chinese, Korean and Turkish meals.

I've been shopping for gifts for other people...and of course, I always find something I like, too! There's one store I go to just about every month. They sell cotton print linens from India (Gujarat, I think). Bedspreads, table cloths, pillow cases, bags, cushion covers. I love the workmanship and prints there.

We've had some very rainy weather--4 days of nonstop rain. It finallly broke for a while today, but this evening as I drove home, it started to drizzle again! We're totally saturated now!
