Hey everyone! I didn't know this thread existed although I should have expected it. SWM in the 514 area. Current hobby - watching Olympics. I know it may not be looking great so far (we tied the Checks last nite), but the Canadian hockey team will kick some ass. The girls are already kickin' ass, great for them.

What the heck is going on with the Canadian olympic team? they have without any doubt the best players but the team isn't performing as the names of the players indicate. In the first game, against Sweden, the Swedes beat us by playing faster and with long passes which totally confused the Candian defense!!!

We have to learn to play faster and we have to forget the physical game we're used to do in th NHL, these are the Olympics!!!

Honestly, the size of the ice ring isn't helping us either. The European teams are used to play in this bigger ice ring...not us...


COME ON CANADA!!!! GOLD MEDAL!!!!

I disagree. We have to hit them hard all the time. Play our style. So far we haven't done that. And secondly, if you live in Montreal then you aren't used to physical hockey because the Habs never finish their checks. They have no presence on the ice and I should know, I've been a Hab fan forever. AAAGGHHHH!

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We won deservedly. I am happy for the victory but got also frustrated for the variety of chances we missed. If we want to win the Gold medal we'll have to be more consistent and efficient!

We played hard, fast and smart. Jovanoski did a good job in defense. We started badly with Sweden but are becoming better and better.

GO CANADA!!!

P.S. Slowhand, I don't really follow hockey, except when Canada plays . I follow the Habs from time to time. Now they have a good team, but they have to get to know themselves better and to play more together. You're right, they don't play very rough but that's ok, they have enough talent!
