If Trump wants tariffs, canada can stick their own export tariffs on oil, electricity, aluminium and potash exports to the US and use those to reimburse canadian for the damage trump is inflicting. Let Trump suck that one up.

The real issue is MAGAts like Babyboozer trying to gaslight others into accepting “CANADA STARTED IT!!!! / CANADA HIT ME FIRST!!!” as a defense for DonOld’s trade war insanity & stupidity - when in reality, it was DonOld who was the clear aggressor.

(And one could easily argue the Iran war is a similar situation, as DonOld tore up the JCPOA and didn’t negotiate a better deal - which led to EVERYTHING that followed, INCLUDING 10/7).



Bottom line:

Excluding oil, the US had a trade surplus with Canada prior to Dum-Dum Donnie launching his trade war. Did our surplus mean we were “taking advantage” of Canada?

The US had trade surpluses with 136 nations in 2025. Did we “take advantage” of all of them?
