Candles for Trini

Baby girl Jakse is scheduled for her 1st surgery this Tuesday (the 16th). It is considered extremely high risk and Trini is very worried but bravely holding on. The baby is beautiful (looks just like her mommy) and is eating well and managing to gain some weight (though she was a chunky butt at birth 9 lbs 5 oz). The doctors aren't saying much but they are pleased with how well she has done so far.

So please, ya'll...put Trini in your prayers. Thanks bunches

Daddi
Thank you for the update, Luna.

Definitely time to get the matches out.

lit one for each of you... keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

sent trini the link to her candles. Baby J goes into surgery between 11 am and 1145 am. Gonna be 4 hours long. Trini thanks everyone for their support and prayers. I thank you for taking enough time to think of us during your day...will update ya'll as soon as I know something.

No idea what the timing is, but she's in my thoughts all the time (and I keep forgetting to relight my candle )

Just went to relight and found this on a candle

Hey all...it's Trini! Surgery went well & only took 2 hours! Also, it turns out that the baby did NOT have a hernia and her diaphragm was intact!!

Here's the complete update...

from Trini's letter to me:

The nurses rushed to pack up all of her stuff and then it seemed like we were flying up to the seventh floor for surgery. I got to be with her in the OR until right before they put her under. I kissed her little cheek before I left...could not get the image of her big blue eyes just looking at me, wondering what was going on. She loves being swaddled and held and could not stand being unwrapped from her blanket and put on the table in just her diaper. Granted, the table had this inflated warmer thing on it, she still was upset. The surgery was supposed to take four hours, but ended up taking only two. They made the first incision at 9:40 am. Guess what they discovered when they went to put her liver back? Her diaphragm was never herniated. It was COMPLETELY intact. She's now in the PICU, learning to breathe. Her lungs are very stiff, so they have her on meds to try and loosen them up, because otherwise, there is a risk that they could pop. She's got respiratory therapists in and out, and she's on a nebulizer constantly. She also has oxygen tubing, but while she's on the neb 100% of the time, she doesn't need the tubing. However, starting tonight, they're going to try and wean her down to every two hours instead of being on the nebulizer all the time. When she's not on the nebulizer she'll have her oxygen tubing (basically they'll alternate), but at the same time, they're going to work on decreasing the amount of oxygen she takes in through the tubing (currently it's on 2 liters). They removed her catheter tonight (Wed.) and her intubation as well. They took blood for labs this evening and then had planned to pull the line from her groin after the labs came back. She's got a g-tube (which hasn't been used yet), and an IV sutured into her chest. She has two drainage tubes for the incisions, but there was very little drainage today, so they were planning to pull those as well. If she tolerates the neb being on only every two hours, then she could be able to move back down to Peds as soon as tomorrow, but we're in no rush, I just want her to get better (I know you do too, papi). She's on Fentanyl for the pain, and her heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration rates are all good.

I know you all care and I know you are just as pleased as we are...THANK YOU!!!

Papi
