Casting Call for D&D Group SRP

I'm interested but ive never done anything D n D related. Is it possible to do an archer assassin? basically a stealther archer

I believe that is called a ranger. So yes, it is possible. There is a link towards the top of the thread posted by Tia that is a link to the rules. Just read through them and get me a character sheet whenever you can. It might be easier to use a character generator. Make sure it's 3.5, though. Just post some general info about your character on the thread using the format I did in the opening post and pm me the full character sheet.

Char sheet on the way.

Just to be on the up-and-up: my equipment is considered "powerful" for a first level character because of its special qualities. The Ironwood special material is a way to by-pass the no-metal restriction on the Druid class, and I eluded to, but did not specifiy, that the armor is Wild Shape, which allows for unimpeded shape shifting, (although I think Druids don't get their first form until 4th or 6th lvl ?). Both items would receive the "Masterwork" bonus, but neither has any additional bonus for being magical.

If either of these things are a problem just toss me a msg.

Also, do you need a separate sheet with the statistical info for Vand, my Elk?

And, last but not least, do we need to spell out our miscellaneous equipment? When I play I'm usually pretty particular about what my character(s) are carrying because I've pulled some pretty unusual tricks that helped us along just by having certain items at all times. Like rope. There are only a bajillion uses for a good length of rope!

Yes I need the sheet for the elk. And that does sound like powerful equipment for a starting character. I'd appreciate it if you could dull them down or I can do it. Or just have different equipment and I can find a way to get that to you later on. Like, when we are the right level for it.

One question about the random generator...What if I wanted specific stats? just take the base numbers and alter it? Basically Id want a toon that almost can't miss. If he sees you coming from any range, hes gone before you get there. However if you get in close (especially early game, hes kind of gimp. Hes the sniper of the group.

I'd really have to do some looking up for all of it. just before I did all the work I'd wanted to make sure it's feasible. For equipment, would something like a + accuracy bow (Its nearly impossible to miss, and boots that keep him silent (so hed have a lower chance of detection, work? Then later camouflage gear...increasing his chance of not being detected.

Uh. Keep re-rolling until you get a score that you want. Don't change the scores. That sets your character off balance, and that's not exactly fair.

And nothing magic at the moment. Just standard gear. Magic equipment makes characters overpowered and that's just no fun.

You could play a ranger, which get ranks in hide and move silently. Also, they can be very deadly with a bow.

Money-wise I was thinking somewhere around one sovereign a piece. Er, one gold. And like I said earlier, just basic starting armor. Leather, half plate, chainmail, things like that. Nothing magic or enchanted in any way. I know you guys mean well by it, but just using blanca as an example, that kind of character would be WAY overpowered. Everything has a chance to miss and be detected.

Edit: Gah. Just realized how dumb I sounded right there. Was thinking of a different money system. Let's go with twenty five a piece.

Do you mean 25 gold to spend on stuff, or 25 gold to have on hand? Because thats realy not much to make a character with, a longsword, leather armour and a wooden sheild for example cost a total of 28 gold, chianmail alone? 150 gold.

In 3.5 D&D, at 1st level, it depends on what class you are for starting gold. I averaged it out for the 10 basic classes listed in the 'Players Handbook' and it came out to be 110 gold per player. Just remember that we will find loot along the way.

My Character:

Name: An Lin Arlana(An is pronownced AWN)
Race: Avariel Elf(winged elf)
Sex: Female
Class: Sorceress
Appearance: 5 foot tall, White Hair that is braided down to the middle of her back, ivory white skin with just a hint of silver ting to it, emerald green eyes, soft, white feathery wings that when stretched out are abour 15 feet wide. She had a tattoo in the middle of her forehead that looks like a winged star. She is wearing a simple short toga, sandles and nothing else. Avariel elves are very rare to be seen. Other elves might live to over a thousand years old and never see one. Most other races thick that avariel elves are just a myth.
Mission: Her father has sent her out to find her older sister, who disappeard a year earlier. He thinks that she has run away from home, but An is not so sure about that.

I had assumed that you would already have your starting equipment set out. So, twenty five on hand. If you want to buy your things beforehand and forego any equipment you've started out with then yes, 110 gold apiece. And keep in mind that the shops may not have everything you've chosen to start with.

I'll start the thread once we get this straightened out.

Well heres my sheet, two things on it that might make waves though.

One, I technicaly went over the purchasing limit, by 125 to be exact, but I did take crafting skills, which if I'm allowed to use before game, brings my spending to the point where I'm under the limit.

Two, the nimbus of light feat, its from the book of exalted deeds and gives a bonus to dealing with good aligned creatures, it also makes you glow when you want to (which is why I took it, playing the evil glowing guy is fun) however I was wondering if I could switch the interaction ponus from good to evil, for background reasons.

That's an interesting thug to have that high of an intelligence. And I could let you do that, yes. By the way, what did you use to make that sheet?

It was originaly int 15, a decent number for a crafty barstard like Jota, but I forgot that tieflings get +2 int, so now he has 17... Roleplaying him will be interesting.

As for the sheet, I used this http://www.*******.com/cg35.htm the formating needs a little work to make it look good in code tags, mainly in the skill table, but apart from that it prety good.

EDIT:
woops, forgot that this site censors that link... I have no idea why it does that, just replaes the *'s with path guy, no spaces.

Ah. Thats the one i use. It just looked different because you had already fixed it. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

Meh, no trouble, I spent the past 5 or so hours writing **********, tossing a few numbers about is fun compared to that.

EDIT:
What the hell lit, I cant say **********?! What the hell?!

Alright, it's up. Here's the link.

So far I only have three sheets. Jota, Aryk, and Leo. Your character sheet has to be turned in to me BEFORE you can post in the IC thread. Zanthuras, Tia, and maybe Blanca, I need your sheets ASAP.
