Catfish and Fake posters

It’s tricky one isn’t it. Non consensual sharing of intimate images is a criminal offence (here in the UK)

But is reposting intimate images from a public site and passing them off as yourself criminal or just ethically and morally wrong?
That's happened a lot since I've been here.

I always tell posters to watermark their photos across their bits, make it hard to steal them.

If you know the member stealing and reposting here or elsewhere, consider showing proof to admin or a moderator.

so...are we going to acknowledge that those are clearly content creator pictures that are being "shared" as "amateur" and that this new account is probably the exact same person behind the last account? its fairly obvious and feels extremely familiar...

And the "Hi, how are you?" PMs just keep one coming...
I feel like I'm part of the club now. I recently received one from a "woman" with the subject line "Hi there..."

The PM said "she" had seen my profile and wanted to chat sometime. "She" told me her name is Emily and asked my name. 🙄🙄🙄

Okay. Did I get this because I identify as Bi/Pan? Was it random? Does "she" think I'm a dude? 🤔

And why the fuck ask my name? The name I go by here is in my fucking user name. I think "she' might not be real. 🤣🤣🤣

Still, it's better than a lot of PMs I have received from guys over the years, like a PM I got many years ago that asked me if I enjoyed being raped. At least the scammers have a little decorum. 🙄

I don't get the name question. Just the title "hi" or "hello" and the message is just "How are you doing?"

I never respond to see what the bot would do next. No thanks lol.

Sad day when the scammers are nicer than the actual people lol. Just ewww.

@lil_jenni yuck. I really do not get how some men think that would be a good opening line, or something to ask a woman, EVER.

Also, those weird PMs are either boys choosing accounts at random or someone with no real grasp of the English language

[Note, nothing wrong with not speaking English, but if you are going to flirt or scam, learn some things in that language first]

Have you reported them and brought it to a moderator's attention?

I get them and my profile says "straight".

It’s meeeeee, hellooooo, I’m back with some friendly suggestions on how to not be fooled by an AI bot (or someone who just lacks any bit of creativity and independence)

Wikipedia is working towards fully banning AI slop on their platform and their page on detecting written AI is very comprehensive.

Let’s look at this and dissect it together

The market wasn’t just busy, it was the perfect accumulation of human tapestry, chaotic energy, and obnoxiously obscured pathing. You didn’t just “get through it” — you took ownership of your space. That’s not “giving into your anxiety”, it’s delving into your biggest fears head on, and honestly? That’s bravery.”
  • AI cannot just state a fact or even relay your own information back to you, it editorializes them positively
  • AI is down bad for the - It’s not just “x”, it’s also “y” - trope (negative parallelisms)
  • AI overuses words most typically wouldn’t put into simple phrases or responses
  • AI makes everything amazing, important, one of a kind! You’re not an absent father who’s too chicken shit to call his kid, AI will tell you you’re finally reclaiming your space in order to be the best man and father you can be for them, and honestly? That’s REAL strength.
so look, if you want to be BFFS with ChatGPT or Grok or some simulation of Amanda Bynes, go ahead, that’s your choice.

However, I’m choosing NOT to talk to someone who is regurgitating AI algorithms back to me and will shut a conversation/connection down if I get a whiff of it.

“You can’t always tell!!!!!!!! There are false positives!!!!!! I just write like that!!!!”

I don’t write just like that. But sometimes I think of how easy it would be to replace me with a chat bot. It’s not like I don’t make the same basic, like 15 jokes over and over and over. Stupid availability heuristic.

Nice examples, well described, easier for me to comprehend - and use. Thanks!

Great points. Now if they can figure out AI Pics instead of relying on us to be detail detectives (one hand lighter in color, background parts get lost or doesn't make sense, etc).

Somebody sent me this Insta link that is supposed to expose deep fakes https://www.instagram.com/reels/DWeSx3QgdNE/

Is there anything to this or is this in itself a scam?
I just asked ChatGpt - Some face-swap and real-time deepfake systems do struggle with occlusion — meaning when a hand or object passes in front of the face. Recent research specifically studies “face occlusion with swapping” because putting a hand or object across the face can trigger visible artifacts in swapped videos. Older and some current systems can smear fingers, blur face edges, or mis-handle what should be in front of what.
