The room was a lot darker then Nico would have expected from an interrogation room.
"So what can you tell my about yourself." The man across the desk asked eyes hungry for her answers.
Nico leaned back in the plush chair expecting it to creak and disappointed that it didn't. Of course the overpriced leather covered chair wouldn't creak this place was just too nice to for them to overlook something like that. "Tons." Nico happily answered. "But where to begin... I guess from the beginning." Nico looked past the man in front of her and into the past. "I was raised by a single mother with a string of bad choice boyfriends. But I was always taken care of but I hated home life regardless and spent more time in a library then at home and it resulted in me graduating early from school and leaving home sooner then anyone else in my town."
"Ambitious." The man typed away at his keyboard.
The young lady just shrugged. "Say what you will about it I just wanted to get away. The next part of my life started by chance. I was all but a kid alone, homeless and far too cocky for my own good. I started stealing, just little things at first like food and clothes. It was exciting and after countless times of never getting caught I started stealing just for the fun of it. Pawing what I stole at some corner dig, he was totally sketch but never asked where I got my stuff and paid as fair as stolen goods can get. After a few months the guy handed me a piece of paper with an address and a cut out clip picture of a painting. Telling me only that I would get 10% of the sale price."
The balding man with the hawkish nose looked at her as if he didn't believe a word that she said and typed more things into his computer.
Nico shrugged and continued with her story. "From there on the gigs got bigger and the payouts matched. And life only got better for me when someone on the black market got a hold of my name and how to contact me. The first job had been a job regarding a museum and I didn't believe the voice over the phone and passed on it only to find on the news the next day that a set of Qing Dynasty vases had been stolen, the same job that had been offered to me just the day before. Needless to say the next time I got a call I took it."
"So you're a thief?"
"Can't you call it something else, like a procurer of wanted goods?"
"I can." The man nodded. "But in the end it boils down to you being a thief."
"Yeah but with as good as I am I'd wish there was something more, I don't know classy you can call it."
"A rose by any other name."
"Is still a rose, yeah yeah." The moment was interrupted by Nico's ringing phone, the sound of Frank Sinatra's voice singing 'I've Got the World on a String' echoing though the room. "Sorry I have to get this." A few taps on the IPhone's screen and Nico slipped the phone back into her pocket. "Three, two, one." She whispered with a coy smile on her lips.
"What, why are you counting-"
Before Dr Colby, Psychiatrists could finish his sentence the lights went off and all power cut off to his office building.
Nico had 93 seconds to grab the Kazimir Malevich before the power flipped back on and in Nico's mind it was 42 second too much.
"I'm sorry Ms..." But Dr Colby was alone in the room and a quick scan showed that he was without his Malevich painting. He scrambled to get to his desk phone but by then it was too late, Nico was gone and he would figure out later that his computer had been corrupted by a virus and nothing was left of it.

"Hey Peter I got that Malevich you were after."
"Good because I have a 1712 Stradivarius that needs picking up."
Nico laughed as she pulled into the underground garage. "What no days off?"
"Not for the wicked." Teased Peter meeting Nico at her parking space.
"I'm wicked?" Nico frowned her eyes pleading.
"Wickedly good. Now go get me my violin." And through the window of the car the two traded what they had, the painting for the folder for her next score.

With no time frame needed to complete the job Nico took her time casing the place. She learned the layout of the house, the time schedule of the guards and the comings and going of the home owner.
After watching the man for the last few days she got to learn a little bit about him. The first was that he was a playboy, with women around him at all times and never the same one. It gave her an opening to approach him as a pretty face as young 20 somethings seemed to be his cup of tea. But there was nothing like the good old days of just pickings and leaving. And as much fun as she had playing with her targets there were some shows on her que list at home that she needed to catch up on.
"So if tonight is anything like the nights before he'll be out with a pretty face and I'll take what I want and be gone." In her mind she saw nothing going on. His alarm system was easy enough to by pass and since the guards went home at night there wouldn't be anything there to stop her. It seemed to easy which was one of the reasons she took the extra time to scout the place but it was that easy.
"What can go wrong." Nico shrugged changing into her favorite pair of black leather pants, a simple black fitted tank top and donned with a supple dark gray leather jacket. The boots were soft soled and knee high matching the same dark pigment of the jacket. It was an outfit suited to the shadows. A few minutes after that Nico was on the road heading the millionaire's house parking down the road and walking the rest of the way.
