Champions League Final: AS Monaco FC vs. FC Porto

It was a good first half. Porto players were a bit nervous on the first few minutes, but got their act together quickly. Good chances on both sides, but not too many clear opportunities...

Teenager puts Porto ahead
Teenage striker Carlos Alberto produced a superb piece of opportunist finishing to shoot FC Porto into a 1-0 half-time lead against AS Monaco FC in the UEFA Champions League final.

Porto ahead
The first half in Gelsenkirchen's Arena AufSchalke seemed set to end goalless when on 39 minutes a cross came into the 19-year-old, and as the ball bounced on the penalty spot he swivelled and shot in his first goal in this competition, having only signed in January from Fluminense FC. He is now the third youngest player to score in a Champions League final.

Giuly off
On 23 minutes Monaco captain Ludovic Giuly had limped off, to be replaced by Croatian striker Dado Pršo. But neither he nor tournament top scorer Fernando Morientes have been able to threaten the Porto goal, with the Portuguese champions' offside trap proving especially effective.
