Many years ago I went to St. Marteen thinking I was o. The nude side if the beach, I did the natural thing. A beach server pointed ne to the other side as I was in the wrong place.

We have some wonderful clothing optional beaches here in California. I agree it is about freedom and the sensation of the elements on your skin. Drinking is always fun as well, but just being mindful in a beautiful locale in our most natural state...bliss.

They must be super secret clothing optional beaches or far away from LA County. As far as I know clothing optional is strictly prohibited around here.

I've never been to a clothing optional beach but have been to a couple of topless beaches. When we use to go to Punta Cana regularly, Bavaro beach is topless. The fourth time there I went for a long walk with my husband with only bikini bottom's & sunglasses on. I'm not really an exhibitionist but did find it exhilarating.
This past summer we were visiting family in Europe & spent 5 days in Croatia.
Where we were there was some topless women but no full nudity.
Now we go to Barbados & it's illegal there to sunbath nude or even be topless. At night though at the semi private beach where we are located, we have fun in the moonlight

What I learned: clothing optional does not mean nude. There are people that are clothed so you do not have to be totally naked. People are friendlier than regular beaches, state funded beach picture taking, lurking or sex are strictly prohibited and can get you arrested and erections do happen. Its NOT a big deal.
I used to live near one and finally got the nerves to go. The 1st time I went I only laid on my stomach. The next time I was laying on my stomach & back. I even walked around naked. The only time I wore a bathing suit was when I originally got there, went in the water and when I left. The problem is I moved away and now I am 90 minutes away that beach.

I discovered this very early in life. I went without clothes in many places when I was a kid and no one knew. Twenty years ago I swam nude in my sisters pool after dark. That got me hooked and now I hardly ever wan to wear clothes. I know of a resort not too far from home and I am going to have to pay a visit next summer!!!!

I usually opt out of clothing when I go to a clothing optional location. Blacks Beach in San Diego was my first. It was mostly men but there were a few women who went nude. No one really cared. I did have a gay man blatantly stare at me with a huge grin on his face and his female friend snapped a photo for him but I thought about it and...well, I'm in public so I had no expectation of privacy so I waved. I've done CO/nudist resorts and it's fine. After about five minutes, you forget you're naked.
I tried nudism after college at my girlfriend's mom's house one Fourth of July. They had a sign up at the pool (privacy fence and woods in the back) that read "Beyond this point you may encounter nude sunbathers." I thought it was a joke until I went over there that summer. Her mom said to me that I was welcome to swim but if their nudity offended me I probably shouldn't stay. I told her that it didn't offend me and the next thing I know, she's talking me into trying it. It took my five minutes to take off a pair of shorts and a shirt as I had to talk myself into it. I walked out to the pool naked and they did sort of this mock applause. After that, I forgot all about being nude. I never wore a swimsuit over there even when some of my girlfriend's friends came over and wore them.
