COCKTAILS Anybody?

How much jalapeño?

I’ve been obsessed with both reposado and margaritas. I use Grand Marnier, though.

Reposado is the way to go. I cant remember the last time I bought silver. Too harsh. I have been drinking more Margs lately and less Palomas. Mostly because I am lazy and have been out of club soda. And I have been growing jalapenos in garden and used a whole one which was too much. I think I used Grand Mariner too but I just call all orange liquor triple sec.

You think silver is harsher?
I am growing jalapeños, too. Maybe a slice to shake and a couple to garnish?

Yeah definitely. The aging in barrels make reposado smoother. I dont usually mess with anejo because I rarely drink tequila neat.

I've been making them with mezcal since a trip to Mexico last winter. Try that it adds a smokiness that's really interesting. Patronage for the orange in it too!

Good call. There is a cantina near me that makes ‘em with mezcal and been too long since I’ve been.

I’m drinking a marg. I sent a vid with it to the Unabomber.

I found out I’m doing it wrong. I add way too much citrus. Not enough booze.

But. I like it kinda weak.

balance is important in cocktails.

C'mon - everyone has a phone - let's see some cocktail photos!

Old Fashioned

I use rye for Sazeracs but Buffalo Trace bourbon in my Old Fashions. Trader Joe's has great Luxardo cherries. I make my own simple syrup. I'll usually throw a lemon slice in to be muddled with the orange. I use juice from the cherries so I can leave the cherry intact.

This has been a great addition to my old fashions:

I use ONLY Luxardo because they are heaven. I’ve even gifted a few listers with them.

You asked SA, but mine is Maker’s. Some friends urged me to Four Roses, but I’m not a super fan.

That being said, OFs FUCK ME UP.
It takes me about an hour to drink it, and I’m still woozy after. I don’t do well with brown booze.

Thatta girl... Luxardo is all I use, too.

I'm more Rye than Bourbon, but I like Makers, Woodford Reserve, Bulleit and Basil Hayden. Four Roses is very popular. Makers and Bulleit in my cabinets right now.

I used to use Bulleit Rye in my OF's, but I got a great deal on Larceny recently and it's been my go-to for OF's and Manhattans.

Nice - Manhattans are my "winter" martini (up of course) and I make them with Rye - mostly High West Double Rye

Made a pretty dope Rum punch which is starting to be a go-to. Fresh nutmeg is a nice touch.
