COCKTAILS Anybody?

Nice spirit; like the rocks glass, too

I always drink out of a nice glass. For me, it's part of the overall enjoyment of drinking.

I would buy this for the bottle alone.

It is nice bottle, it was a gift. It's great having adult kids who never know what to get dad for a gift. At this point in my life, I have all the tools and ties I could ever use. So, I just tell them to get me a nice bottle of something, go in on it together if they want. They rarely disappoint.

I want an Enzoni!

INGREDIENTS
- 30ml Gin (1 oz)
- 30ml Campari (1 oz)
- 22.5ml Lemon Juice (0.75 oz)
- 15ml Simple Syrup (0.5 oz)
- 5 White Grapes

METHOD
1. Muddle the grapes in your cocktail shaker
2. Add the remaining ingredients
3. Shake with ice
4. Strain over fresh ice into a double old fashioned glass
5. Garnish with skewered grapes

I'll skip the garnish, though.

That sounds super refreshing.

Yeah, perfect on a summer Sunday afternoon. I could use some hair of tbe dog today too.

Last night my buddy and I killed a bottle of Four Roses small batch bourbon. I made blueberry lemonade drinks for the ladies. First, in the morning, I made a blueberry simple syrup with fresh in-season berries from a local farm stand. Then for the drink, I put that in a shaker in equal parts with lemon juice and vodka. Poured that over ice and topped with soda. Garnished with blueberries on a toothpick. They were tasty and the color was beautiful. I'm sorry I didn't take pics.

yes, shame on you for no pictures! Sounds interesting!

Too tired. It’s been a rough weekend. I’m sipping Pinot Grigio.
Tomorrow.

hear ya. long weekend with a lot of work. Had a martini, finished the red that was open, now a nightcap with the open chardonnay.

I'm so proud of myself - I used to open a bottle and always drink the whole thing that night :D

Just made a couple. YUM!

So, we cleaned out both fridges. We have a beer/soda fridge and meat freezer down the basement, and the “regular” fridge upstairs. I was surprised to find TWO half filled bottles of Pinot Grigio. This never happens. NEVER.

Right now, back on my tequila. Cabo silver, grand marnier, fresh limes, shaken, rocks, kosher salt.

I think I’ll hit the wine with dinner.

I had a question about sake. Does anyone know anything about it, and what a fairly new sake drinker should start with? Cold or hot?

I've had it but am not a fan. Had some with some Sushi and also had sake bomb shots...neither made we want more.

My kids drink the sake bombs which makes me feel like I’m 40 years older than you.

I had some at an upscale sushi place. I liked it. I have NO IDEA what I ordered.

well, you're def not 40 years older than me. :D. When I did do those, it was with a friend slightly older than me who I will NEVER be able to keep up with...and I'm pretty stout.

It has been a while,..maybe I will try again sometime. Just not the bomb

A proper Negroni this evening. Plymouth Gin, Campari, and Martini & Rossi Sweet vermouth.

I'm very concerned - it seems there may be a limited/short supply of Campari where I am - been out at two stores this week. I only have half a bottle left. Hitting the road Friday - hopefully by the time I get back, supplies will be back in stock

Cheers

So, I am a weirdo fucker about a lot of dumb shit but especially when it comes to glassware. I really dislike drinking out of anything with a stem. First of all, they are a pain in the nuts to hold onto when you are 5-6 drinks deep. Plus, they break too goddamn easy. I actually prefer drinking just about everything from a pint glass. Of course they are perfect for beer but also most liquor drinks. If you are used to making double liquor drinks they fit perfectly. My wife bought some stemless wine glasses awhile back but fuck that shit. I just double up my wine into the pint glass and I am good to go. Plus, I usually mix between beer, liquor and wine throughout the day and this way I dont have to do a bunch of stupid dishes.

And dont get me started on margaritta glasses. Not only do they have stems but the glassware is too goddamn wide and I just slosh half the drink on the table. Fuck that.

I see your point. My wife breaks stems glasses all the time; I do break them occasionally. Probably a 8:1 ratio. Maybe 10:1. Insane.

But I need them. Don't give me a fake (stemless) martini or wine glass that doesn't have a stem. Can't. Won't.

And I need a proper rocks glass for cocktails with ice. Pints are for the occasional beer and bloody's.

Tried a bourbon rickey...bourbon. lime, and club soda.

Meh. I'll stick to straight.

To me, that sounds like abusing bourbon. I don't object to it as an ingredient in a cocktail, but when it is mixed with other stuff, I want it to be a co-star at most. If it is at all an actual good bourbon, I'd want it straight.
