From what I have read in vintaqge porn, the noun was "spend". I've never used that word either, at least not yet.

Count me in the ""cum" as a noun, "come" as a verb" camp. I like that as a verb it's synonymous with "arrive" (which actually is the more literal translation in Spanish). However, using come as a synonym for semen just doesn't look right to me. Additionally, "came" is the past tense of "to cum", not "cummed" or something.
So yeah, I would write:
"I want to make you come all over my tits," she told me.
"I'm coming!", I cried out, blasting my cum all over her.
(ok, I would try to be more creative than that, but hopefully you get the point)

Generally I will use "come" when describing the act of orgasm, but may use "cum" when a character is speaking ie "I gonna cum" simply because many girls I know when writing (like on MSN) will use that spelling, so I assume when they verbalise it that's what they would be thinking. Saying that, a pending story is called "cum fly with me" so I am inconsistent.

At Ellora's Cave, editorial policy says that "come" is the verb and "cum" is the noun. I have no idea how they decided this.

Huh. We say "spooge" here, which can be used as a noun or a verb. Must be an Ohio thing. I often use "spoogie" as an adjective, i.e., "spoogie stain." Ok, I don't really use it that often.

I use "cum" a lot. But there is a problem with that word used as a verb. With "come" the conjugation works correctly in present tense with "come" and past tense with "came". But "cum" doesn't seem to work quite right. "cum", "cummed" etc.
