Comfort Food

Chocolate. Mint chocolate. Mmmm....

Dim Sum. Yeah, I'm weird. It's just that every time I was in a down mood while I lived in London, I'd jump on the tube and head for China Town. I'd have crispy duck and dim sum. Then I'd go for a movie or into some club just to people watch. :) I miss London. And dim sum.

Ice cream. Haagen Dazs, Ben & Jerry's and Carte D'or. Mmmm....

comfort food wise though.... Any kind of cheese but I'm on a Gouda kick right now. Pasta with tomato sauce. French fries. Pizza. Potato soup with grilled cheese sanwiches (ketchup on the sandwich.) Bean burritos.

Ugh. I'm a carb addict!

Yeah! I agree with both of you!

What foods comfort me?

When I'm sick:
Chicken noodle soup, milk and banana sandwiches on wheat bread with miracle whip.

Feeling puny but well enough to eat out:
Tomato Bean Curd Soup and Chicken Sizzling Rice.

Other comfort foods:

Manicotti
Spaghetti
Mac N Cheese
Veggie Soup
Black Bean Soup
Salad
Potatoes just about any way from chips to O'Brien.
Scrambled Egg Sandwiches
Peanut Butter Gravy
Cheese toast
Yeast toast
Fresh baked toll house, peanut butter or sugar cookies.
Sour dough bread
Wheat thins with cream cheese
Any fruit

Other eating out items.
The Veggie Fajitas at Roly Poly
Cheese Sticks most places
The Veggie Delight at Subway.

Okay so I like comfort and food. Feed me Seymour! I still look good or so they tell me.

Comfort food, really depends on what kind of comfort I need. If I'm feeling sick, or stressed, I turn to Wonton soup. If I'm depressed, or having some sort of emotional outburst, the it's the small containers of ice cream and a spoon. Sometimes some hotfudge and whipped cream go right into the little container, and I don't really have any particular flavor that is chosen over the other. Then there's the really weird moments where I feel fat so I turn to carrot sticks. That one puzzles me.

My potato/sour cream/cheddar/ham casserole

Crushed pretzels & peanuts covered with a mixture of milk chocolate, butterscotch chips and evaporated milk.

Potato/bacon/cheddar soup

Sour cream chicken enchiladas

Black pepper potato chips

Grilled peanut butter sandwiches with a giant glass of milk

Can I come to your house?

There's the usual - thanks FurryFury for compiling that list.

Then there's the essentials such as

"choclate sauce dripping from my partner"
adding whip cream and a cherry or two of needed

or

"honey spread on my partner's lips"

A handy candy bar for when the partner isn't available. :)

Anthing with carbs - potatoes, bread, pasta - cooked anyway, served with what goes good with it. Any dessert.

No problem, making a list is one of my best things! Like your list too!

Fry bread, hot out of the oil. Yummy.

Boiled peanuts in a bag that the saltwater soaks through, also hot.

Mashed potatos, preferably with peas.

Bisquites (sp) and Red Eye Gravy

Leek Soup

Fresh Bread

Fresh French Bread and Brie

Egg Drop Soup

Crackling Dumplings

Three Day Chili (It cooks for three days.)

Hooters Chicken Wings, Hot and Naked

A freshly bathed woman who is hot, naked and willing

Damnit, you people are making me hungry. If they find me dead, passed out in a pool of mashed potatoes and gravy, surrounded by fried chicken carcasses, half-empty buckets of macaroni and cheese and the remains of a cherry pie, I want you all to know that you are to blame.

You forgot the biscuits!

Tell me about it. I never eat while online, but I had to go get a snack.

What's wrong with carbs? With luck Dr Atkins will be burning in hell about now.

No, this isn't a plug for my story of the same name (Praeteritio is such an ugly word :D), but more a question of what comfort foods you turn to. This is vaguely writerly researchy. Honest.

I'm currently going with the classic whipped cream straight out of the can. Seems a bit of a waste when there's no-one to lick it off.

Well I grew up in a restaurant, so what makes me feel good? Escargot with lots of garlic and bordeaux ... King Crab, or tournados, and ... milk :D 1% only.

*gasp*

I'm so in love with dr. Atkins. :D

Well, his diet actually made me loose some considerable weight.
And for the first time ever I've been feeling good about eating.

It works for me.

:D
