Matt's life was going pretty good, he was finally able to move into his own apartment and had a great girlfriend. Ruby just finished high school and was planning on taking a year off before heading to college, which her parents didn't take to well. Since I was 18 though, which I pointed out to them hundreds of time, they had no say in the matter. Sadly, since she told them they haven't been talking much. This was one of the many times she wished her brother was here. If he had been then he could have talked to them, lightened them up and make it sound like it was no big deal. Since he hadn't come by the house in a while though, she decided just to stick it out. Thinking they wouldn't be mad for long.

Her parents were going out, to get some shopping down for the next week and she planned on just staying home and hanging around. She got everything done early, cleaned the house, took a shower, then got dressed in a pair of tiny dark blue jean shorts, and a light green t-shirt. She was laying in the bed, listening to her Ipod when she heard someone shout from down stairs. What the... She reconized the voice and got out of bed quickly, putting the Ipod down on here desk. She walked out of her room then down the stairs.

A grin broke out over Matt's face as he heard his sister call out. Hurrying down the hallway to the bottom of the stairs he looked up to see his sister which only made him smile bigger. Grabbing the bottom of the handrail he starting making his way up the stairs skipping about every other step. "Hey sis.." Ruby smiled when her brother wrapped his arms around her. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him back. "I'm great Matt!" She said, her voice a bit muffed as she buried her face in his chest. After a moment, she unwrapped her arms from him and backed up.

"Sorry, mom and dad just left about 10 minutes. Their doing there shopping run." She said sweetly, still smiling. She couldn't seem to staop. She'd missed him so much, it was just so good tosee him again. "Wh-what are you doing here anyway?" Ruby asked, brushing her hair out of her face.

"Oh well that's fine that they aren't here" Matt said as he pressed his back against the wall as he kept smiling back at his sister. His smile disappearing after Ruby asked why he was there. "I need a drink" was all he said in a soft tone and then headed down stairs into the kitchen. Opening the fridge he grabbed one of his dad's beers and popped the cap off and took a big sip turning to see his sister followed him into the kitchen. Leaning against the counter he took a deep breath and then finally spoke again. "Well Kelly and I broke up.."

"Oh, I'm so sorry Matty." She said as she placed her hand on her chest. "You two have been doing so well to," Ruby walked over to her brother and grabbed the beer from his hand. Gently, she set it on the counter.

Ruby had come to enjoy Kelly... at least when she came over to visit that is. She was a sweet girl and even sweeter when she was around Mat. She couldn't believe they had broken up. "Matt, what happened?" She asked him, reaching out and grabbing his hand. "Are you okay?"

Matt held onto Ruby's hand and looked into her green eyes. "Well.. I checked her phone one day when she was in the shower and I found out she has been talking to my friend Steve, and more than just friendly stuff too." He paused and shook his head as he though back about it, "So I confronted her about it and we really got into then I told her if she had the urge to talk to other guys like that while we were dating then she really didn't care about me. So now we are through."

Ruby bit her lip as she looked up at hiim. "Oh, Matty I'm so sorry. " She said softly before she moved her arms and wrapped them around his body again. "She wasn't good enough for you Matt, you know that, right?" She asked him as she looked up at him.

She wanted to comfort her brother after what happened to him. It must have been really hard on him, after two years think it would be hard on everyone. On the other hand though she wanted to be pissed. She wanted to call up Kelly and cuss her out for making her brother go through this.

Ruby pulled away from her brother and leaned up on her toes, lightly kissing his cheek.

Matt broke out a half smile as Ruby hugged him and tried cheering him up. She was the only one that called him Matty and it didn't bother him at all. "It just sucks, when you think you know someone and you trust them they go and do something like that." Pulling her back in for another hug he held onto her this time. It was nice for him to just be able to hold someone even if it was his sister. Letting his hands run along her arms as he let her go after a couple minutes. "Thanks sis. It's always nice to know I can always come to you if I need some cheering up." Matt was still hurting inside but Ruby was helping him feel a little better.

"Of course Matt! When ever you need me, all you need to do is call or... come over with ot calling." She thought for a moment. "You know you really could have called. I would have made all these cool plans for us, I... I could have... dressed up more." She added with a laugh.

Ruby grabbed his beer from the counter and waved it in the air. "Now, I highly doubt you came here to drink," she looked at he bottle for a moment. "Besides, our parnets might think I got into it instead of you." Se walked over to the frigde and put it inside.

"You don't need to dress up or make plans or anything Ruby we can just hang out here maybe watch a movie or something. And if we do can we watch it in your room? I don't feel like putting up with the parents when they come home." Matt smiled at how his sister was taking care of him by putting the beer away. She was younger but always took care of him like she was the older one.

"Yeah, of course!" She grabbed two sodas, one for him the other for herself. Turning back to him, she gave him a grin, "I can even hide you in my closet when they get home, if you want." She joked as she handed him the bottle.

"Come on," Ruby grabbed her brothers free hand. "I redid my room while you were gone." She sad as she pulled him to the stairs. "I added a queen sized bed and I just bought myself a HDTV!" Ruby proudly stated. "I even painted the walls!" She walked down the hall way, "Instead of the ugly light pink our parnets painted it when I was little, it's white with pictures all over one side of the wall."

Matt let out a soft laugh at how excited Ruby became. Once they entered her room it was completely different from the last time he saw it. "Sweet room sis! A lot better than it was before" He said as he kicked off his shoes into the corner of the room then he jumped backwards onto her bed and crossed his arms behind his head. She laughed as she looked down at her brother. "Fine, but stay on your own side of the bed." She laughed before she grabbed the remote. Ruby climbed into the bed and up to her brother. "Ad I remember before you liked to hog all the covers. No more of that if you want to sleep in here."

Ruby switched on the TV and handed him the remote. "Go ahead and pick something on payperview. I'll tell mom ad dad tha got it and take the money out of my nect check." She cuddled to him. "But NO porn,. Not until you stay here for at least 3 days" She joked with a laugh.

Matt smiled and remembered how Ruby always used to cuddle with him when they watched movies before. He wrapped his arm around her side and held her close to him. He leaned down and kissed her on the top of her head after her statement. "If you wanna take a year off that is your own decision and if mom and dad aren't happy with that then too bad for them. What does your boyfriend think about that?" He asked not sure if she actually had a boyfriend or not.

It was certainly something brother and sister shouldn't be talking about but yet here they were talking about it.
