Comments That Make Your Day

Received through feedback:

"In Health" was the best story I have read in a long time, not only Literotica but The New Yorker and other publications as well.

There was more, but it was of a personal nature, about how the story felt so real because of personal circumstances and how accurate everything felt. It's nice to know when I've gotten the details right.

I have one fan who goes to every one of my stories and posts, “usual shit from a whore author.” Sometimes posts it a few times on one story.

I say fan because he obviously watches for me and reads all my sorties.

Nothing screams success like a dedicated troll! (y) :)

I recently did what will likely be my only non-consent/ravishment story. I did it as a challenge to myself. I think I pushed the boundaries quite a bit. I figured I'd either get a lot of unhappy comments or very few. I got a few. But there were two people who got what I was going for.

Exceedingly well written and just a shade uncomfortable, just as a story like that should be.

Well done.

The story was well written and the plot was enthralling, but I have very mixed feelings about it. I think you were successful in what you were trying to write. Thanks

"That's Ms. Whore Author to you." would be a good response.

Nice comment on Cheatify The Wife: (a 750 story event)

It spawned Cheatify The Bastard when a reader suggested the guy shouldn't get away with the cheating. Both were written tongue-in-cheek although the Bastard is funnier than hell!

Awesome BTB

Just reviewing comments on my stories. Just about every piece I wrote, before I found a good editor, had at least one comment along the lines of,

You definitely need a proofreader.

Thankfully they've now disappeared. I envy those that don't need an editor.

I get this comment all the time. I’m bipolar and on a high, when I write, I don’t have the patience for an editor. Truthfully I don’t make that many mistakes. Some people just want to complain.

I got this comment from a well-respected writer in the LW category on my lowest-rated story (which I think may be my best writing), simply because the cheating wife got away with it.

"Wow!
I know it’s human nature to judge stories based on our own likes and dislikes but in cases like this it’s too bad we can’t simply judge on the merits of a well written, well thought out, and well executed story.

Yes, she got away with cheating on her husband. There was no retribution, no revenge, no consequences for either cheating party--that right there is enough for 1 star in the minds of many. I’m sure it was the driving force behind the low score but this was an excellent introspective into the mind of someone who loses their lover then has to deal with not being able to truly morn or acknowledge her loss, while at the same time, contend with her guilt.

I gave it 5 stars. I wish I could give it more."

That single comment erased all of the ridiculous comments from the BTB 1-bombers. I still go back to that comment when I'm stuck trying to complete a story or come up with a fresh new idea or generally doubting my ability as a writer.

Then occasionally, I'll get a comment from a reader who has decided to re-read a story, and they end up saying to the effect, "Read it again, and it was better than i first thought." Those are few and far between, but it's nice when they come in.

Love those LW commenters!

Just got this one today for Receiving Grace:

Ok, WOW the word seems so plain. I also know the feelings of completing all that you can, and feeling nothing more can be accomplished. I know this was only a story, written from some actual facts, but told as one lived the life. It is a beautiful heart felt story that brought many tears to my eyes. (A whole box of tissues worth). Thank you for this story, and that you for sharing it with all of us.

I wrote an LW story to troll the trolls. Over 300 comments and still, after all this time, rising. I love writing LW.
I keep telling myself I'm not going to post there anymore. And then it's the old "moth to the flame" time again...

This thread inspired me to look through my comments. It was definitely the boost I needed today. Here are a few of my favorites.

Posted in response to Reminiscence:

"That was such a good read - melancholy yet erotic at the same time; bitter-sweet. Brilliantly written and paced out, I had a smile on my face the entire time. Great work!"

A comment on my story Exposure Therapy:

"It was extremely well-written, and offered a wealth of practical information for men dealing with body-image fears. I'm gay and 84, I wish I had been mentored by this incredible man. Well done!!! I also really enjoyed a life-long fantasy so delightfully presented. My friend, keep up the powerful, good work!! Now, I need a cold shower, or a therapist!!"

And my absolute favorite comment, which was posted about my first story - Window Display:

"Months later and I still think about this story all the time. Great job man."

It might be silly, but I cringe when I re-read my first story. I published it without the assistance of an editor, and I later found numerous grammatical errors. It feels nice to know that, in spite of its flaws, someone out there really loves it.

@EmilyMiller would like this user name I think.

On my newest story, The White Room Revisited:

"tentaclesforall about 6 hours ago

This is not the first alien abduction / alien symbiote story I've read here, but it's probably the best among the lot.

I love your perspective and take on the whole thing, and suffice to say I could stand to read another couple of installments exploring this world you have created."

I have no idea if / when I'd ever get around to writing a third chapter, took me over a year to write this sequel lol.

But it's nice to know people enjoy it enough to want to know more.

This was something I haven't seen in a long time. Commenters used to respond to each other, but once the moderation started that died out, so I was pleased to see these two comments. The first was about a week ago and the second just arrived today.

From April Fool No Longer: :)

Great story, very different. Just one little gripe that the author might think about. I can't believe that a cheating wife would become a bitch overnight because of her cheating, slightly different behaviour, yes, daydreaming, yes, guilt feelings, yes, being over affectionate, yes, a birch I doubt it. I was cheated on by only my second serious boyfriend, but he was never anything but nice. It's amazing how many lit author's call into this trap, writing in the LW section. Sorry could only give 4*

To xxxxxxx- I know all people react differently when they are cheating. But it is very common, with wives who are doing this to lose all respect for their husband, and start to treat him like shit. I believe it is the same defense mechanism women use, when they are dumped, and don’t want to let another man close to them. Sometimes this attitude is exacerbated when the husband points out to the wife how she is changing. For instance, if their sex life is suffering( as it usually does) , she will blame it on him, to deflect the guilt she is feeling. I believe it is not unlike a drug addict who is constantly lying to his family about it. Eventually, it will destroy their relationship with the spouse, and family. 5 stars.
