Eduardo "Ted" Cruz is building his own little empire here in Texas.
Remember a few years back when just about every single "Moms for Liberty" was kicked off of school boards nationwide?
Ted created his own version of Moms for Liberty, gave them very vanilla websites, nothing too controversial
They took the majority of the Houston school board and now we have sex education books that guarantee you'll get cervical cancer if you have premarital sex before marriage. :rolleyes:

Talarico is an interesting candidate: A Christian populist who seems willing to stand up to the billionaire class.

He is quite appealing to all those Hispanic Trump voters who have been betrayed by DonOld & the MAGAt republicans.

If Jasmine Crockette is true to her word (I believe her) and works tirelessly to help Talarico win that Texas seat in the U.S. Senate, then we could really see a blue tsunami in November.

Islamic Sharia law, which calls for such barbaric punishments as stoning and beheading, and which mandates discrimination against non-Muslims and women, was on the ballot for Texas Republicans. And the results were both decisive and revealing.

Republican primary voters across Texas overwhelmingly supported a ballot proposition calling for the prohibition of Sharia law, according to unofficial results from the March 2026 Primary Election.
The measure—Proposition 10—asked voters whether Texas should prohibit the use of Sharia law. The proposition was one of 10 non-binding questions placed on the Republican primary ballot by the Republican Party of Texas to gauge grassroots priorities ahead of the party’s 2026 convention and the 2027 legislative session.

Oooooooh I stand corrected!
Eduardo "Ted" Cruz's little empire has crumbled.
The three ultra-right wing candidates who were elected in 2023 all went down in flames in the recent election, flipping the entire school board from a 6-1 Fascist majority to a 4-3 American majority.

Here's a list of their three major accomplishments for the Houston public school system in their short tenure:
  1. Require an elective course entitled "The Bible as History" be offered in every high school.
  2. They got national attention when they hired students for $10 per hour during the summer break to use scissors to cut 8 pages dealing with "climate change" out of every high school science book (books that had been approved by the conservative Texas School Book Board!)
  3. This sealed their fate: instruction about the history of vaccines and/or their effectiveness was prohibited and deemed a "termination offense" for teachers. Jonas Salk, creator of the polio vaccine no longer exists. (this was when parents said "enough").
