That would be most likely because sepiku is a word also. It may not mean the same thing as seppuku, but none the less it's a word. As long as it's a word, spell check doesn't give a fuck. Hell, I don't think spell check gives a fuck anyway.

Watashi wa Nihon go o hanashimasu. Dommo arigato gozaimasu. ;)

To state why I feel qualified to make this assumption, I've been studying Japanese for a while now, and I also know how finicky spell check can be.
anata wa nihongo o hanashimasu ne? anata no namae wa nan desu ka?

Watashi no namae wa FURANSU desu. Watashi wa ni nen Nihon go o benkiyoo shimasu ga sukoshi Nihon go o wasuremashite imasu.

I prefer bologne myself.

Obviously, you've never heard the Oscar Mayer lunchmeat jingle...

Edited to correct typo. I do know how to spell "Mayer."

You obviously have not heard about us young Canadians not being able to hear the song that so eludes us. And we like to keep it that way because will be just lost on us. We're funny like that, y'know?

Why didn't your spellcheck catch "sepiku," which Merriam-Webster Online says is spelled "seppuku?"

According to most (human) editors I've worked with, transliterations have numerous accepted spellings. I've seen this most often with semitic languages, but also quite frequently with Asian.

But why are we picking on message-board messages in the first place? If everybody was anal enough to spell-check and grammar police their messages here, there would be one-tenth the volume, because it wouldn't be fun to write anymore. I personally save my editing skillz for the copy that matters (publication).

Merriam-Webster as an authority?!? I'd rather go "bareback." :p

You know canadiancutie, you have been sounding very bratty and pissy lately to several people.

You refused to answer the question there, saying it was for another thread.

Well, here is that thread.
These are my questions from the other thread:

Why do you care? You can't be popular with everybody unless you're an insincere ass-kisser (not saying you are that, obviously, I'm saying that's what you have to be to get everybody to like you!). Some people rub other people the wrong way and often there's no rational reason. Who cares? There's plenty more (and often better) people that don't respond that way.

I am abarasive and I rub a lot of people the wrong way. I see it as a blessing in disguise, because it makes people who I otherwise might trust and become friends with (with disasterous consequences later, given who or what they are) completely avoid me. :)

More to the point, why do you care if some relative stranger on here (CC) dislikes a lot of people? It's their right (or their funeral, depending on how you see things) and why should they be insincere and fake a bunch of lovey-dovey stuff that they don't feel? There's way too much of this extremely dishonest fakery (Ooo I love you to death sugerpukins!--public GAWD, I hate that stupid bitch!--private) that goes on in message boards to begin with. I'm all for anything or anyone that cuts through some of that crap.

Yeah, but in all honestly, CC is constantly down-right hateful at PL. Often with no specific provocation. I like CC, and I like the part of her personality that is bratty and tactlessly honest, but I gotta call it as I see it. Private Label would be best off just ignoring her, but I can understand the frustration. On CC's behalf, PL you did kind of insinuate yourself into her conversations in an annoying manner. (Over and over again.) I think you came across as trying a little too hard to be popular too fast and that's what caused the resentment. It was probably the threads where you started a "Virgin Club" and started calling yourself the president and attempting to "flog" people and such that kick-started this whole thing.

However, as much as I like CC, I still hold to my opinion that she was bein' a bit o'a cunt about the whole matter. But she already knows I feel that way, and who cares anyway. I'm a sucker for lil biatches, and I still think she's grand, and I still wanna do her. :p

I think too many people missed the point of this thread.

It wasn't to point fingers and to go "OMG YOUS SUCKSS TOOO" it was to make light of a horrid situation.

Laugh at it. I know I have.

I'm unsubscribing from this thread as soon as I'm done with this post, and I'm only here because I still stalk my ex-girlfriend like a pyscho, but there's a question I gotta ask:

When the fuck did the BDSM forum become a haven for chatty teenagers and virgins? I mean, it's occassionaly cute, but I don't need to read three pages of banter between children of all ages whose closest thing to a BDSM experience is getting beaten up by the bullies at school. Especially not in a thread of some actual value to the grown and sexy.

I'm sure these spiteful words will not be able to stop the phenomenon, but if I've at least made you all think about where you are and why you're here just a little bit then I've done some go...

ah fuck it. Let me put it to you the way you'll understand. You're all bitch ass motherfuckers and should suck my fat dick. Bitches.

I don't post here much anymore because of this kind of stuff. I am an adult and have adult issues. There doesn't seem to be too much of that going on around here these days.

That being said, Tainted B, I have often felt the way you have described. I know that I am abraisive. I say what I think, often to my detriment. I don't allow myself many close relationships in these kinds of situations for exactly the reasons you have described.

You can cut through the crap quite nicely... (said at the risk of being call an ass kisser. ;) )

Yeah, I didn't like this thread and where it was going. Purely juvenile bitching and whining - and I did take issue when cc started getting a little catty towards others, trying to cool the waters. I just don't like catfight dramas on boards, they're ugly to read.

As for the apparent dropping out of two types of posters or whatever, there was a time when this board was when all the subs went strutting their submissiveness and doms doing similar things and I know it detracted many good posters from this forum - and I could name a few of which whom most of you'd agree would be a good contributors to the forum. But now there is a shift in the posting styles, now riddled with virgins trying to find their way into this and have taken up the vacuum of posting a bit and having the wind blow another direction. It's now more younger-crowd oriented and this could be for better or for worse, but that shan't matter. I know some people have returned to posting here since this place has swung that way.

Depends on what you do with the current state of chatter I guess. You can always have more older-crowd oriented conversations alongside the younger-crowd's. It isn't that hard.

not having sex doesn't mean free from BDSM related activities and relationships...just saying.

Good post, X. Much better than the "plur" blanket statement I normally expect from you.

You don't sound that spiteful to me, just kind of complaining.

Message board chattiness comes and goes in waves (talking about all of them now, not just lit). Right now the people chatting it up are "younger" but oftentimes that isn't so. It isn't a factor of youth or virgins online so much as it is a factor of "like minds" meeting and enjoying each others' company. :) I don't personally mind any expression of enthusiasm, no matter how long-winded, because I think it leads to creative expression, cementing of friendships, and other really good things in the long run, besides being fun for the people who participate. Like someone said it's quite possible to start serious discussions side by side the "just for fun" stuff, or even inside the same thread.
