Critique this? Male nude

Umm, I'm not actually sure what you mean by comparative models, could you explain?

My plan for them is:
- If I actually get any feedback on the anatomy or notice any problems myself, make last changes to the lineart. Other than this, yes they are good to go.
- Add highlights and shadows to each base (have to decide what the light source is... possibly make background first so reflected color of shadows is logical.)
- Move on to the anthro accessories lineart - Paws and claws, ears, tails, wings, stripes, spots, etc. Possibly bases will need to be tweaked to be more standardized, or accessories will need to have different versions for different bases. Crit probably won't be needed, so flatcolor, shadow, and highlight.
- Ditto ditto with the creature bases (e.g. dragons, gryphons) if possible reuse lineart from anthro accessories.
- Eyes, hair? How variable should faces be?
- At some point I have to determine the standard color palette of the game and duplicate every base and accessory in every color. Actually looking forward to this part because it's so easy and I love playing with colors.
- At some point need to design the gui and make various graphics for it.
- At some point need to make a flowchart of the gameplay and find a flash programmer to make it happen. Don't forget the ability for people to make custom avatars from the art.
- Once a playable alpha exists, do overall playtesting and editing; also, think about music and sound effects.
- Find hosting, beg for donations and comments, consider selling commissions to add desired elements to the game.

Damn, that list makes me tired just looking at it.

Well up until now youve had 3 'types' but now there is just one.
Man thats a lots of stuff...

 There are athletic, fat, and skinny male, and athletic, fat, and skinny female, 6 total. Maybe you missed the post with the fat and skinny females?

Hmm ok went back and looked I guess I did, so, 6 bases total

Yeah, I like that convention, but he does look weird if I stand him up next to the muscular and chubby ones. The muscular one I could probably lengthen the legs to match, but that looks wrong on the chubby one. So I think I'll have to change the thin one's proportions a bit to match the other two.

Meanwhile, here are the first two females. :)

hey sunandshadow!
i like what you have been doing over here! this is a whole lot of work! i have a friend who does gaming animation and i was amazed by everything that goes into it, the designing, layering and colors. i love your two female figures. my only critique would be the calf/ankle/feet area on these gals. on the larger woman, i would give her a soft curve into the ankle, narrowing it a tad, and making the foot more delicate. in the skinny gal, i would thicken her ankle and feet a bit, to give her balance with her top. keep up the good work! :rose:

Thank you. :) I particularly agree that the chubby female's feet should probably be more delicate looking, although I'm not sure about the ankles, I wanted her to have 'cankles', this is the calf blending into the ankle, commonly seen on BBWs over 300 lbs. I was reading a thread where fat admirers were talking about what they liked about BBW anatomy and several specifically mentioned cankles.

Yeah I'm glad I'm not planning to animate these, that really multiplies how complicated the project is. I've done a few simple animations (run cycle, flapping wing, swimming fish, flying butterfly) and I find it really brain melting to try to break the motion down into frames and get everything looking smooth. More power to your friend. :rose:

Layering and colors is what I've been working on today - here's the first draft of shadows and highlights on the muscular male, anyone spot anything that looks wrong, or places where shadows or highlights are missing and should be there?

The athletic male really looks good SnS, the shading is very good given the 'unknown' light source.

Thanks Austin8. :) I decided the light source is a white light to the upper right, but yeah there's still no reflected light from any background. Probably that's a technically poor way to do it, but imagining lighting is always complicated enough to make my head hurt.

that sounds like fun. i like how you did your research before doing the renderings, and if they say cankles, more power to it! :rose:
the male looks great!
