I have a decent job but million dollar homes (which sold for 250,000 pre covid) are a bit out of my price range as are 3 grand a month rentals.
I've been house sitting, camping, couch surfing for a year and have decided to convert a bus...but I'm tired and I'm facing another move in the next 2 weeks...only I don't even know where. Ughhh If there are any skoolie people out there pleaaaaaase message me. I need all the pointers

School buses are a big project so I hope you have the tools, know-how, or friends who will help you. Do what you wish of course, but do please take time to look at portable sheds-cottages or house kits. We can buy these cottages here that is an outside shell. Then you insulate them, wire them, run your plumbing lines, put in the kitchen, bathroom stuff. It works but the place ends up being a nice tiny house.

WOW! Those are some insane prices and rents. I had no idea you had been moving around like that. It must really suck. Sounds like a bus conversion or camper are your only options to stay in the area. I hope it all works out for you.

OMG, no wonder you're stressed! Yes, housing is health. Is there anyone who can put you up temporarily??

My cousin lived in a bus for a few years in New Zealand. He's back in Canada for a while and has a converted bus parked in my mom's driveway right now, actually, but I know absolutely nothing about what he did to fix it up. He and his girlfriend love it, though, and live quite an adventurous life!

My town too has seen prices skyrocket. It's wild.

Searching for a home is as exhausting as searching for a job. So I totally understand why you are stressed.
I'll have my fingers crossed and hope for you to find what you need soon.
Are you looking for a ready to move in bus or are you building one yourself? A tip is to have a friend with you that you trust and knows about mechanics, if you don't. That could save you a lot of money in the end.
