Curse of Strahd dnd campaign

Quinn hears a few screams and rustling around inside. A minute passes and no one exits the fissure, and she can't hear anything coming from inside anymore. She could hear the sound of bodies dropping a few moments after she cast the spell. Lucan looks over at her with a raised eyebrow. "Did they all just die from that damn spell?"

QUinn shrugs "or are playing possum. i AM the mighty quinn after all." she looks in, since she can see, and tries to see if the bodies are there or not "they might have slipped out..."

Inside Quinn can see one female, five males, and a suite wolf all lifeless on the ground. She can see torches lighting the walls and six bedrolls lying on the ground. She can also see two doors in the room, one leading east and one leading North. Lucan takes a peak in, "What do you think? The fane might be here."

QUinn hmmms "at the very least their loot is probably in there and well, we've been working without pay since we got that platinum" she drops the spell and heads in, looking around "lets see what it is they have on them and what's beyond." she crouches, then goes about stripping the dead of their valuables.

Quinn finds three hundred gold, armor, and some basic weapons on the dead bodies. Lucan heads over to the doors and listens to the other side of them. He shrugs and looks over at Quinn, "I dont hear anything, do you have a preference m'lady?" The others enter the room and look around, Ireena shivers and wraps her arms around Quinn. "How's it still cold in here, what the fuck. What is the plan?"

QUinn grins "its cold because its fucking cold." she gestures at the north door "lets always choose left, when there's a choice. should help keep us from getting too lost in there" she gives Ireena a quick peck on the cheek "might be warmer inside"

Lucan opens the door and looks out into a hall. The walls of this twenty-foot-wide, seventy-foot-long
arched corridor are sheathed in amber. The southern half
of the hall is scorched by fire, and a charred corpse lies
on the floor here, under a burned fur cloak. Several am-
ber doors lead from this hall, and three arrow slits are cut
into the east wall. Floating in the middle of the hall are
three skulls wreathed in green flame. Lucan sighs, "Well, I wish I could have heard them.." The skulls don't move or notice you as you peer through the door.

Quinn quietly closes the door. "well." she hmmmms "why dont we head east, and see what's around before we tackle the three skulls. that's either a puzzle or a fight and i'd prefer to take care of anything else lingering in the area before we have to take it on. even if its just to make sure there's nothing else in the area. Also if its a puzzle we might be able to get some clues as to .... you know maybe we should have taken these assholes prisoner. I didn't realize they'd go down so easily" she sighs and looks at the bodies at her feet "anyway lets go east."

Ireena laughs as she opens the door to the east. "Forget mighty Quinn, more like killer Quinn!" She peaks her head out of the door and doesn't see anything, she steps aside and let's Lucan look out. "Well, at least there's no creepy skulls floating around here. This place is huge though, I can't even see the whole thing."

A twenty-foot-wide balcony of black marble with a
shattered railing overlooks a vast temple. Black marble
staircases at each end of the balcony descend thirty
feet to the temple floor. The vaulted ceiling is thirty feet
above the balcony. The walls and ceiling are covered in
an amber glaze, lending the gloom a golden sheen. A pair of amber doors are open directly east from you about one hundred feet away.

Quinn hmmms "im guessing the room with the skulls was used to fire arrows down on this area, in the case of a breach." she brushes her hair out of her face "lets head down i guess. its fucking ominous down there but im guessing that if we're going to find the fane's anywhere, it'd be down there amidst all that marble and pomp and circumstance" she moves to the staircases, checking for traps as she moves down along, motioning for Erlan to do the same.

Both Quinn and Erlen search for traps on their way down the stairs. Neither of you see anything out of the ordinary as you head down, the others follow and you all find yourselves at the bottom of this large room.

Four black marble columns support the vaulted ceiling
of the temple, at the north end of which stands a forty-
foot-tall statue of a cowled figure in flowing robes. The
statue's stony hands are outstretched as if in the midst
of casting a spell. Its face is a void of utter blackness.

The ominous statue stands between two black marble
balconies, one of which has partially collapsed and fallen
on the temple's black marble Acor, in front of an open
doorway. The walls of the temple are sheathed in amber,
and the doors leading from it are made of amber as well.
Arched hallways coated with amber lead away from the
temple to the west and east. Flanking these exits are
alcoves that hold white marble statues of robed human
wizards with pointed hats and golden staffs. One of them
has toppled over and lies shattered on the Acor.

Quinn's eyes flick over everything. "well, do we head behind the altar? i think that's the play. we head back there, see what's what behind it, then if we dont get what we want we can move over to one of the other hallways" she looks over to the others for confirmation "this place is enormous. carving all of this out of the rock.... all this statuary and marble work? it seems really beyond the capabilities of modern Barovia. i wonder who built it?"

Lucan nods as he heads forward, "I dont know who built it, but it certainly wasn't anyone from around here. They don't seem to have the knowledge of skill set to construct something like this." You all head forward, after ten feet the ground starts to crack, before anyone can react the ground collapses and you all fall. Everyone falls twenty feet into another room, hitting the solid ground hard and groaning as everyone tries to stand up.

This room has walls of glazed amber, a floor of red
marble, and a rough-hewn shaft in the center of its ten-
foot-high ceiling. Three amber sarcophagi stand in al-
coves, and above each sarcophagus floats a human skull
wreathed in green flame.

Lucan eyeballs the sarcophagi, "Well.. Wasnt expecting to see something like this here. Great."

Quinn hmmms "a lot like the room we saw before. i wonder what the green skulls are" she shifts a bit "are they undead?" she looks around for an exit, then moves over towards the sarcophogi "can you detect if there's undead around Lucan? i think its probably something we need to know"

As Quinn steps towards the sarcophagi, she can hear a vice in her head. One of the floating heads looks down at Quinn, *Oh, hello there! Long time since we've had visitors! What are you doing here?* Quinn noticed Lucan says something but she can't tell what he said. She can only hear the voice of one of the skulls. *It gets so lonesome down here, won't you chat for a while?*

Quinn looks at the others "I can't hear you lucan only the skull in my head" she turns back to the skull "sure. for a minute. what would you like to talk about?" though she is afraid it might be a trap it might not hurt to gather some intel."

*Hmm, lets talk about how I can help you shall I? I know you dread losing one of your companions. I can give you the power to bring them back should one of them die. But of course that is entirely up to you, I am merely here to offer the help. Being trapped here for so long gets so boring.* The green flame seem to glow brighter as the skull speaks.

Quinn hmmms "and what would that cost me?" she looks back at the others, then looks at the skull "or is the pleasure of my admittedly fine companionship payment enough?"

*Cost you? It wouldn't cost you anything, that's the beauty of it, it's a gift!* Quinn takes a moment to consider it and try to figure out if he's being genuine or not and he seems to be genuine. Though it's hard to tell since it's only a glowing green skull.

QUinn shrugs "sure. I'd love that. I appreciate your thoughtful gift" she nods "so how long have you been stuck down here?" she figures if the gift is genuine and not bullshit she might as well chat with the thing "and, why?"

*Oh we've been down here for hundreds of years, I've lost track of time at this point.* The skull glows brightly and Quinn feels energy wash over here. Her eyes glow green and her emerald green eyes swirl with dark energy. *There you go, now if any of them die you'll be able to revive them, a useful gift indeed.* Quinn feels slightly sick for a moment but the feeling quickly passes.

Quinn nods "well. thank you. how do we get out of this room?" not having noticed any doors "we sort of fell through the floor you see."

*The wall to the west of course, just touch the wall, it'll open for you when you do.* You look over at the wall and can see an odd outline of where the wall should move. *Or up through the ceiling of course if you can figure out how to get back up there.*Quinn can finally hear Lucan's voice again, he's standing next to her. "Hey are you okay? You've been quiet for a while now."

Quinn nods "just talking to the skulls" she waves to the skull, then moves over to the western wall, looking for a catch or some way to get it to open "they said we can go through here for now. super helpful guy."

He gives her an odd look, "Right.. So uhh.. What's going on with your eyes then? " When Quinn touches the wall it opens up revealing a dusty corridore with stairs leading up. Heading to the stairs you all find yourselves behind the large statue you all saw before. Lucan looks around and doesn't see anything special. "Maybe this one has already been taken care of? There were people here already, maybe they figured out how to break the connection.."
