what she means is that when she's wooing them, she will go and do things, but once she's trapped them, all she wants is takeout and TV

:p ;)

I would think your ideal date would be a date where you go and have a great time no matter who is on the other end of your arm. I don't care if you just meet them or have been married for 40 years. It may not be an appropriate date fire you to wine, dine and 69 a stranger but I am sure throughout the process of the first date you imagine doing so our not if that is what you consider an ideal date.

I chose sporting event. Probably will be the only one...but whatever. I love them. And you can learn a lot bout a guy in that sort of venue. Nothing says you can't pick up takeout on the way home from the stadium if it went well. ;)

G'morning IHC!

I picked other too. It depends on the time of year and whether it's early in the dating or not. I kinda like the idea of having a bite to eat and then heading to the range. ;)

I said "other" because the best "date" I had was when he cooked dinner for me, AND did the dishes. It was a huge gesture because he can't cook (at all) and he took the time to ask his mom to show him the recipe, then did a practice run at her house. I appreciated the gesture for what it was and that's what made it better than going to an expensive dinner and a live show even though I enjoyed that as well. I had a great time when we ate hot dogs (which are not my favorite) at a food truck along the road on the way to the gun range because that was a fun way to spend time together, too. I could be completely content with any of the choices listed in the pole as long as it's with the right person.

I do agree with Bella's assessment of Elli's question. It's different when you've been with the same person for 20 years. If you're dating new people, I think you're more apt to go for a new adventure as a way to impress the person, even if a sporting event or rock climbing is just not your cup of tea.

Why can't we just use our imaginations and answer the question for what it is? Not over analyze it and if we must over analyze it just put other with an explanation as opposed to starting how incomplete you feel the poll is?

Aw, Mr Clowns, I thought it was a lovely poll, even though I find myself stuck hopelessly between 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Perhaps a week away where all three happened. Plus in England we aren't so good at 'dating', in the 'try before you buy' sense I understand to be common in the US. So for me these would be things to do with that rare woman who had woken up beside me and not yet run away screaming. Let's face it, she'd deserve a good time after the things I'd have done to her.

In that case you'd better pick the 'cuddling after driving in" option.
Oh, drive-in; as in that sheet-on-a-frame outdoor cinema screen thing.
Not the shoving-your-manhood-in-her-garage thing.
My bad.

I like the poll.

The strand of thinking on the thread about kinds of date being different when the relationship is just beginning as compared with when you've been SOs for a good while:

I guess I 'go out' with my wife when in a sense it's not a 'date'; but when it is a 'date', the same romantic imagination and sexual expectation applies as did when I first fell for her - I think - and that's why the kinds of dates I'll propose now are in the same range as the dates I proposed then, and we're talking 40 years later!

No, one exception: Venues with booming music are out now as I can't hear a thing above the din of it!

geez.. Idk.
Its been so long since I was out "on a date" I honestly don't know what my ideal would be.

I'm a total social goober anyway, maybe I should pick "other".

We can always ask the ward nurse to let us have extra checkers time..:p

I am thinking the men will choose "Night in with Take Out" and the ladies will be scattered around the rest. Just my hypothesis.

Actually, I picked "night in with take out." I'm all about undivided attention.

And honestly, IHC, I read the question, clicked an answer and moved on. No overthinking necessary.

I've missed ya, sugar! Hope the fam is well.

A night in the town.

I got it!!!

Hiking and a picnic.

I figure we end up making out or I get CPR...so, either way I'm getting mouth-to-mouth..

Yep..am I a silver lining girl or what?!?!

There's nothing better a nice dinner and conversation with a lovely woman. That's just part of the foreplay.

I considered something like a play to be under the rubric of concert, so that was my answer
