yeah, I am sort of tired. work has been work, then home schooling before and after, fun fun. It has left me a little blah. And boy does teacher yell a lot. She is probably going to start drinking on the job soon.

What else.... oh as bumblefuck turns.

Someone posted a video of a boy who couldn't have been more than 12, driving, stopping to get gas. He drove well though, better than most, even signaled before turning. Child, car, and child's parents, siblings, aunts etc were identified and tagged in like 10 minutes, as that is how rural facebook works

one of our high school kids went viral when someone took his picture trying to take online classes sitting in the street in front of a restaurant. since, restaurants that have internet have moved tables outside and the school has set up wifi to cover the parking lot, so kids can attend school.

my son has raved about school's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Mine are fine, but just not as good. Finally found the answer. Theirs are prepackaged and frozen. Sigh. This is like the pizza. School has the best pizza. Closest I have found is 5 star.

The school district "found" laptops and tablets, for all those who do not have their own now can study. And Charter has made sure everyone has free coverage, about the same speed as a busy Starbucks. (And porn blocks on it LOL)

it isn't only the cost that comes into play in rural areas, it is also lack of plant. yeah comcast has the slow speed free now too, for the area they cover. 1/4 of rural households have no options. it isn't money it is the plant. well it is money as they would have to pay many $1000s to extend the plant that far. and surprisingly, where their is know cable plant there aren't usually cell towers either. Distance learning in rural america is especially challenging. couple that with closing places they might be able to go on the main road.

Fortunately, since we get crappy winter weather where the whole county is shut down, the major employers subsidized optical fibre cables and made sure it was cheap. No WiFi to speak of, but pretty decent service. Sadly that means no excuse for not working.
