[snip]... in other news, I have my yearly review today. It is being done via teleconference with a man that not only have I never met, I don't think I have ever spoken to. He wrote glowing things about me, well mostly.

All my scores related to people skills are a 10 out of 10 or 5 out of 5, which obviously, because of my glowing fucking personality. all my technical skills were rated either 4 out of 5 or 5 out of 5 or 9 out of 10 or 10 out of 10, and where I got 9s instead or 10s, it was deserving. they aren't my strongest areas. It says nice things like she has a passion yada yada, always timely and professional, project accuracy score of impressive 99.93% (target is 90%), an exceptional performer, model employee, is respected by peers, confident in her space, displays exceptional technical and interpersonal skills.....

then there is the one 3 out of 5. same one I got a 3 out of 5 last year. Cultural Competence. ie the ability to work across a diverse set of cultures, nationalities, races, ages, and genders. At this rate they will make me take another gender or cultural sensitivity course, and the last one was sooooo not good. ok maybe not, I guess 3 out of 5 is average. I am just not accepting of average in my work, ya know.

Do you feel the review process is obviously flawed when your reviewer is someone you have never talked to and never met? When I was in the Army, my first four Officer Evaluation Reports (OER) were absolutely glowing, as was everyone else's. Granted I don't speak to my boss that much, and I have never met him, but we talk some and I have worked for him for several years.

The truth about my job is my job is keep the client happy, know my shit, build it right, build it fast, build it in budget, make sure it don't break, and if it does, fix it fast and it stays fixed. If I am doing my job correctly, the people above me talk to me very little as there is no reason. Sure, occasionally people go over your head to speak of your awesomeness, which is actually the only time my boss hears about me, but usually, if someone goes over your head, it is because they are not pleased You either screwed up, you didn't fix a problem fast enough, don't seem competent of the task, or someone didn't like something you said. If you never screw up, you attend to any issues quickly, you hit all your timelines and budgets, you don't piss anyone off, and, in general, are always bulletproof, no one hears or thinks about you much. For me personally, the biggest compliment is their lack of attention. I have never met my superior, his supervisor, or anyone in the chain above me. They only show when they think they need to. I am the only area they have never scheduled a visit in. They don't contact me to reiterate timelines or check in to make sure I have no issue with a project scope. I think it is awesome when my boss calls because he realizes that it has been a couple months since we spoke and he feels like it is just wrong to go so long but then he excuses i t with he knows I have it so he doesn't think about checking in, and he is correct. It is kind of like how if my mother and I go long periods without talking, when we finally do she expresses some level of guilt, but states I am the kid she knows she never has to worry about and I am good. She is also correct

The biggest compliment is simply trusting I have my shit together, I always have my shit together, I will always have my shit together, you never need to worry, know I don't need anything, trust failure is simply not an option for me, and trust, no matter what, I have your back and the buck stops with me. That is why I don't think, in this case, it is a flawed process. He and those above him couldn't remain as hands off as they are without believing this. Otherwise, they would look bad if something went wrong.

She's also the one who "grounded me," told me to work from home 2 weeks before everyone else!

I hate annual reviews as well. We have to write our own "Performance Plan" in December for the upcoming year, provide a six-month update in June and do the final evaluation in December. (We have to evaluate ourselves on a standard that we also set).

It is a bluetooth wearable that you can program patterns to run on a loop, use an app to share control, create an anonymous url so someone can go to a plain jane website to control it, and they even have software to integrate it into cam model sites so people paying with tokens or tips or whatever can turn it on and make it do things. almost makes me want to join a cam site just because I so want to play with that software haha. but yes, it is great fun. And in case you were in doubt that there may not be a reddit for everything, there is indeed a reddit where people just post the control url so random people can just go and control toys. Yup, There is a reddit for everything and no I am not on that reddit, well except for knowing it exists.

in other news, I have been having a grand old time with a new lovense toy. It is actually my first app controlled toy. It is a bluetooth wearable that you can program patterns to run on a loop, use an app to share control, create an anonymous url so someone can go to a plain jane website to control it, and they even have software to integrate it into cam model sites so people paying with tokens or tips or whatever can turn it on and make it do things. almost makes me want to join a cam site just because I so want to play with that software haha. but yes, it is great fun. And in case you were in doubt that there may not be a reddit for everything, there is indeed a reddit where people just post the control url so random people can just go and control toys. Yup, There is a reddit for everything and no I am not on that reddit, well except for knowing it exists.

Anyway, I might have to try more items from their line (I am cheap hence not playing with some of the other common app based ones) Of course, I also bought a new toy last night, not an app based, actually not a vibrator at all, also rather different from what I own, so, yeah, I should like wait a week or something.
