I did not know James and I do not know what he had in mind when he started the thread. Someone sent these to me. I'm not sure if this is what he had in mind or not, but I will say they are definitely entertaining...I hope you enjoy them.
I'm so glad people are keeping James's thread alive. He had a special way to touch people on an emotional level with just a picture or a thoughtful message.
He saw beauty in nature, beauty in people.
I'm sure he would enjoy the pics that are being posted here.
I am circling ever so slowly,
Gliding mindlessly along
In a state of suspended animation.
Completely out of touch with
The rest of the world,
And happy to be there.
I can’t feel the floor beneath my feet.
It’s as though I’m standing
On a vast puffy cloud.
Gravity is forgotten.
I feel totally weightless
As I spin around
To the thrum of the music
That fills my soul.
My eyes capture the glow
Of colored lights
And contented smiles.
I let myself submit
To this endless moment
Of utter rapture.
And after the song ends,
I still have the music
In my soul.
Also by me:
DANCE
I feel the power of your gaze
The gentleness of your embrace,
The confidence of your smile,
As you lead me to the floor.
You are the ardent master
And I’ll follow your lead,
Because you have such style.
We are one in the glowing light.
We compliment the melody.
The drums engulf my body
As we twist and turn together.
This is beauty, this is grace.
You play me like a violin.
And another by me:
RECITAL
I wait in the wings for my song to begin,
Checking and re-checking to rosin on my feet,
Trying to calm the queasiness in my stomach.
I know that I should feel confident.
I have practiced for days on end
And I can see the steps in my sleep.
But now I feel peculiar,
Swathed in scratchy net and prickly sequins,
Hair stiff and face greasy with makeup.
When I hear the first note of my song,
All is forgotten, and I become fluid.
The song and I are one.
My feet sweep the stage, teasing the spotlight.
Each note reverberates through my body
Sending a rush of energy to each nerve ending.
My arms stretch and reach upward.
I can feel each finger moving slowly, separately,
Caressing the sky.
I am lost in the song as I bounce and leap.
I spin in a dizzying sequence of pirouettes
And am pleased that I held my spot,
For I end in a perfect arabesque.
The teacher is smiling from the wings.
I have done well.
My ears are filled with sounds of applause.
Suddenly, I am snapped back into reality.
I must take my bow and rush backstage
To change my costume and makeup
And wait in the wings again.
