Year of our Lord 1436
Amiens, domain of Burgundy
Serjant Jean and his men were growing bored. After the city was annexed by treaty to the Duchy, the Duke Phillip le Bon decided to turn his attentions to the north, to Flanders and the regions that he had to struggle with both the Emperor and the Crown of France, the war had grown soft and there was little excitement nowadays.
After all, Phillip decided that befriending France was turning out to be a better bussiness than with England. So, the burgundians at Amiens had not to contend with the nearby french-held cities anymore.
So, Jean and his fellow had little to do except getting drunk with the free ale offered to the soldiers of the Duchy. This time, he and other two soldiers were sitting at the inn's porch, awaiting for something to happen.
One of them was an english. Welsh, actually, but nobody cared anymore. Except that Arthur was a capable archer, and most of the longbowmen had fled north, to where the war was more... interesting. The other, Tomazzo, was a savoyard whose skill with the crossbow contended constantly with the arrows of the welsh.
"What a terrible, boring day." Jean cursed. Nobody happened at Amiens any more. The inn was just in the outskirts of the city, among the hamlets of peasants that still had not swore fealty to the burgundians. Blasted dogs.
Suddenly, someone walking down the muddy road catched his eye. A woman, yes. And not too bad-looking, after all. Or was that the beer talking?
