Defense/War Spending

Hegseth Says Not Giving DOD $1.5 Trillion in Funding 'Greatest Threat' US Faces

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in his opening remarks during a congressional hearing Tuesday that not fully funding the Department of Defense (DOD) to the tune of $1.5 trillion is the "greatest threat" the United States faces at home and abroad.

$87 billion because of the TrumpIran War:
Hegseth made the remarks while testifying today before the Senate Appropriations Committee, as the White House is requesting an additional $87.6 billion for "urgent needs" regarding the United States' ongoing military operations in Iran.

Exploding deficits and the national debt are Crooked Donnie’s way.

I guarantee you the costs of this war are a lot more than 87.5 billion. Bush with the Iraq war shifted the costs to future budgets so it wouldn't show up as extra spending in that year. It likely when you factor in the cost of actually fighting it then replenishing weapons stocks that it will be in the many hundreds of billions, the Iraq war ended up close to a trillion by the end.

So give us the true number. Afterwards, explain why you support a nuclear-armed Iran.

Nuclear armed Iran, bad.
Nuclear-armed Saudi, good.
Nuclear-armed Israel, good.

The problem with that is that Iran was never going to have nuclear weapons until Trump destroyed the treaty and removed the inspectorate that prevented that country from developing them.

But as the US has so much spare capacity in its arms industry and Trump has bought so much stock in it, how about attacking Mali. Yup, that makes sense!

Now, the best outcome that Trump could possibly manage would be the restoration of JCPOA, freedom of navigation of the Strait of Hormuz, after the USA spends millions to clear the mines and wrecked ships and, oh, the $300 billion Trump promised to give Iran. Basically the situation under Obama, only with Iran immeasurably more powerful and everyone laughing at the USA.

The final chapter of the Art of the Deal.

I don't support a nuclear armed Iran, and that claim is typical crap like somehow if you didn't support the Iraq war you weren't supporting the troops, it is trying to paint dissent as unpatriotic or playing into the enemies hands .

Every intelligence assessment said that Iran was not close to a nuclear weapon, and that includes the mossad ironically. There was no credible intelligence that Iran's nuclear fuel processing was proceeding.

Let's assume that Iran was processing fuel for a bomb. When you go to war , you look at the goals of the war, and say how do we achieve them then get out. You assess the risks , the consequences, and work from that.

Donald Trump: ' I got a bigger dick than Obama, gonna bomb the shit out of the fuckers, unlike those wussies'

Hegseth " we can't fail,we are on a mission from God".

They literally had no plan ,figured they would crush Iran and the grateful Iranians would overthrow the regime. It is a high school bullybin action.

One thing we have learned from war, you don't win bombing,it doesn't work. If trump was serious, we would need to take the country, for among other things, to verify what they in fact had and prevent them starting it up again.. He knew maga would flip out,so he couldn't do that.

He and his goombahs also didn't think about the straights of Hormuz and Iran's ability to control it.

Like Bush in Iraq, they thought they could win easily and walk off into the sunset.

There is a reason Iran was let alone by every president other than Dump,bc of the blackmail thanks to oil.

Trump might as well have taken all the stuff used against Iran and thrown it into the ocean in other words.

And thanks to his bungling, any treaty likely will leave Iran's regime in power, it will have iran promising not to build nuclear weapons with no verification and with the US paying to rebuild Iran and with the US ceding to Iran the right to control the straits of hormuz. How do I know? That was the terms of the so called peace treaty that fell apart. Basically bc of oil Iran can hold out while the US and the rest of the world are facing economic problems from the loss of oil supply.

What this really about wasn't nuclear weapons ,this was Netenyahu proposing to hit Iran for his own purposes and Trump, his ego ablaze, went in there like he does with everything, like a bull sniffing Adderall, he is the tough guy,Mr macho, and he screwed the pooch royally.

As far as the real cost, Trump sent a request for a trillion and a half dollar defense budget, up from like 900 billion, you do the math. They have to.replace all those multi million dollar missiles and arms, have to pay for the like 20k an hour each plane takes when flying, replace equipment lost. Given this was has turned into a perpetual war, it is impossible to know but I would guess if it ends soon 500 to 600 billion.
