IF your "partner's sister" were worth her salt as a "VERY senior financial advisor" she'd KNOW how to manage her portfolio to make capital gains no matter WHO was in the oval office.

Stock buybacks translate DIRECTLY to fewer shareholder to pay out dividends to. Just what do you think corps are going to do with the extra capital they don't pay as dividends? They can't hold it because that makes them targets for arbitrage. They can't bank it offshore any longer. And they can't pay higher exec salaries. so where does that money go?

Answer: Either in capital expenditures (modernization and expansion of production facilities) and/or wages. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't want to see it because they just don't want to acknowledge the truth and reality. Corporate America is responding as corporate America should.


As for me, the doubling of the standard deduction will directly change my bottom line. And that money goes directly into my portfolio in addition to my regular contributions. Which is still up 25% overall in the last year even after the recent correction.
