Malaya.

Malaya Estrella Cortez woke up, the alarm clock that sat on the nightstand to her right a constant reminder of the punishment that had been laid out for her. She groaned her her phone ring, knowing exactly who it was.

"Hey."

"Fuck you, hermano." She said simply, the backround of her father coming out. She yawned widely, her caramel colored legs swinging to the side of the bed, touching the plush navy carpet as she wiggled her toes for a moment.

"Aw, you still ain't mad at me, for getting you fired are you?" He said quietly.

She sighed walking into the bathroom, her eyes rolling even though she couldn't be seen by him.

"That was the best fucking job I had,and you wanted to mess it up!" She practically yelled, her black eyes smoldering inside the mirror. She looked at herself, her lashes blinking back tears and closed her eyes, only opening them back up when the red stopped showing.

"Look, I'm sorry-I got you another job didn't I? I think it'll grow on you. Plus the pay is better than the last job you had. I gotta go though-work's calling me. Ill be home later to see how it went, aight?"

She hung up, not even bothering to say goodbye. She didn't even know what this new job was, just that she would be working...for someone. Good pay as long as she did what she was told. As much as she hated conforming, she needed the money for her career as a dancer, and that didn't come cheap. Besides, how hard could this be?

She began to run the water as she contemplated on what to wear for her first day on the job.

"Yes. I said it would be fine, did I not?"

Silence decended, the voice on the other end, copping a plea. Monika's eyes focus on the clock, her mind no where near this office or this idiotic conversation. She didn't have TIME for this shit.

"Look, I told you. As long as she can take dictation and listen, I will have NO problems with her. Enough. I have things to do. Make sure she is on time. I don't like latecomers."

The phone was dropped into it's cradle with no thought. This new secretary seemed promising enough~if she could keep a civil tongue in her head and mind her manners. One didn't get where she was, VP in charge of accounts, without being a bit high handed, a bitch. As long as this girl, this~Malaya~did as she was told, when she was told with no back talk? Things would be just fine.

The phone rang. Monika answered.

"Yes. I know it is early. No matter. Do you have the numbers for Greg's last month? He's up for review this week. You do? Email em to me. Thanks."

It would be good to have someone else answer the phones. Monika stood up and stalked to her executive washroom. Time to put on her face and get ready for the day. After all, chola make-up wasn't appropriate for the day time.

Malaya sighed after exiting the shower, her body glistening in the mirror as she looked at herself.

She stood at 5’ 4”, thick as well. Some dudes killed just to be beside her. She rolled her eyes at the thought, lightly blow drying the tangled mess she called hair on the top of her head. Finally controlled ten minutes later, she sighed heavily, placing it in a loose bun on the top of her head for the moment.

She walked back to her closet, her phone letting out a loud vibrate that brought her out of her daze. She walked quickly, knowing no one of her friends in their right minds would text her at 7 in the morning.

You do know it’s a secretary job, Lay?

A text message. Her brother. She felt another eye roll coming on, but nodded to herself, actually glad he sent her that warning text. Her usual attire consisted of a pair of jeans-baggy or tight-and some sort of top, usually cropped. She felt her lips poke out slightly at the thought of having to wear a suit. She groaned to herself.

Thanks for the warning in advance.

She tore her closet apart, finally decided on a black pants and jacket set. She wasn’t normally used to such classy attire but it would have to do for now.
She ran to her dresser-the time now being 7:15, and she wasn’t the one to be late for the first day on the job, not knowing what to expect. She searched her drawers until she found a simple blue bra and boyshort set, slipping it on, and after some moisturizing and other hygiene necessities, she slipped on the pants suit, smoothing down the wrinkles, finally deciding on some black wedges before stepping out, remembering her phone, keys and other things and driving towards the tall building.

She glances up at its stories…surprised. Her brother landed her a job like this? Maybe she could forgive him. She got out the car, crossing the busy street and walked through its automatic doors.

“Hi Mam, may I help you?”

She turned, barely having any time to react before someone walked towards her, being all…helpful and shit.

“I’m the new secretary…”

“Aw…yes…on the 6th floor with Ms. Castillo. I hope you aren’t sensitive, sweetie.”

Malaya simple gave a bit of a scowl in response as she followed the lady up to the 6th floor.

Two years ago~

"You bend over. Did I stutter? Bend the fuck over.'

The girl had looked utterly lost, confused. Like she couldn't believe what she was being told to do. She had worked here for 6 months and in that time she had been yelled at, taunted, ridiculed, ignored. None of that stopped her from being rude, sarcastic, a bit of a smart ass. Finally, Monika had lost control of her tremendous temper and the words had slipped out.

"Don't make me repeat myself."

That had been the beginning. Learning that women respect a firm hand, a no nonsense tone of voice, a man's way of behaving but presented in the soft flesh of a woman? It became a challenge to find a girl who would try her patience, one who could use a little bit of training. The few who came in and got into no trouble? She passed on to the higher ups as executive assisstants. The other ones that she trained? Once she was done with them? They were on the fast track to their own management positions, if they lasted, if they didn't break. She was a bitch, a bit of a sadistic cunt. But any secretary who could survive HER? That secretary was meant to be in management.

One year ago~

"You can't be serious? She wants to pursue harrassment charges against me? Fine. I will see her in court. No, we are NOT offering her a settlement. She was all for getting fucked when she thought it would net her something."

This dumb broad. Smart mouthed, African American. Thought Monika had been kidding when she offered her a severance package. Told her they couldn't work together. Offered to move her to another managerial type. The dumb cunt didn't want to go. Monika fired her. Somehow, she turned it all around, made it soumd like Monika was trying to abuse her, whatever.

That changed the nature of the game. No more physical punishment until the secretary for hire understood explicitly that it was only needed if she couldn't do what was required. There was a document filled with lawyer speak, allowing the subordinate to ask for release with no questions asked, along with a nice severance package. All of that was forfeited if she complained. However, if the girl made it 9 months under Monika's tutelage? She would be bumped into training courses and tuition would be met for a degree in business.

Today~8:30 AM

The short curvy little Goddess entering the room behind Tristina had a bit of an attitude problem. Monika noted it right away and filed it away for future reference. Then she stood, stretched and sauntered forward, arms crossed. Monika knew she looked imposing. Pretty complexion, curly hair, dressed in black and taupe linen, a men's fedora perched jaunitly on her head? Most women took one look and decided BITCH. Whether it was true or not, depended upon the woman.

The silence stretched out~becoming slightly oppressive. Finally, Tristina spoke, shattering it.

"Mz. Castillo. This is your new hire. Malaya? I brought up the usual paperwork that has to be done as well as your modified contract. They are all in this folder...."

Monika glanced at the woman with cold gray eyes~"Shut up. I have done this quite a few times. Go on back downstairs, where you belong. I will have Malaya bring you the completed forms for HR in a few hours. Get out."

That was it. There was nothing further that needed saying. Instead Monika took her time, looking over the new hire. The girl looked professional enough and she had very good posture. 'Oh, right, this one is a dancer.'

"Take the folder from Tristina and have a seat at your new desk. Fill out everything but the contract. I will discuss the finer points with you before you sign it. The other paperwork should take you about an hour. The time time is now 8:37 am. Get busy."

Monika returned to her office then and waited to see just how the new one would cope.

Malaya felt her eyes roll out of the girls sight as they stood on the elevator, warning her about this and that. Useless shit, that didn’t matter to her; everything was escaping her ears.

That is, until they saw, Mz. Castillo. She had to admit, she really was pretty, gorgeous in fact, and she really was bitch in truth. Like, when you can just…tell this shit. It was obvious, and Malaya wasn’t surprised if she tried to make it obvious anyway.

We sat in silence for a moment, and I sighed, taking a good look at the scenery. It…was good. Really nice, in fact. She saw an empty desk, still shining from furniture cleaner-obviously hers. It had a stack of papers on it, and a phone, a laptop in which she would be working on…

"Mz. Castillo. This is your new hire. Malaya? I brought up the usual paperwork that has to be done as well as your modified contract. They are all in this folder...."

“Shut up. I have done this quite a few times. Go on back downstairs, where you belong. I will have Malaya bring you the completed forms for HR in a few hours. Get out."

She resisted the urge to drop her mouth open. Wow. Tristina swallowed hard, and after a moment, she nodded, walking briskly down the hall back to the elevator. She didn’t even bother to look back. Malaya stared in shock, a small shiver going down her spine. She was shocked, but not intimidated, and after a moment, she looked back at Mz …Castillo, her jet black eyes staring right into her cold, grey ones.

"Take the folder from Tristina and have a seat at your new desk. Fill out everything but the contract. I will discuss the finer points with you before you sign it. The other paperwork should take you about an hour. The time is now 8:37 am. Get busy."

With that, she walked away, and Malaya silently sucked her teeth, rolled her eyes and turned before she had a chance to see. The desk was equipped with everything she needed, and as she walked, examining, she had to admit-she could get used to this.

She quickly retrieved the folder from Tristina, and after she had set back down and got settled, she got to work. She couldn’t help but groan every once in a while. This was too many damn papers, and her work hasn’t even officially started. When she thought she was done, another small stack would seemingly appear out of nowhere, and then, another.

9:15. She let out a sigh, hurrying to finish the last of the papers. She set the contract aside, and after doing some neatening up of the folder, she smirked, having accomplished her goal. She closed the folder, then set the contract on top, and walked to the office with it in tow.

“Mz. Castillo? I’m done with the papers, you told me to fill out.”

She stood, waiting, shifting her weight from each foot to the other.

Monika noted the time with a slight grin and beckoned the girl forward, her gray eyes watching the other female intently. 'So, she works quickly. That's a plus. Hopefully, she is thorough, too.' The thought came and went, as Malaya stepped into the office and found a seat on the other side of Monika's desk. She sat very straight, posture perfect, knees together. Monika nodded once, in approval and then held her hand out for the folder.

Slim fingers went through the file, eyes noted that everything was filled in, properly, with black ink. She snapped the folder closed and picked up the contract, a slight grin barely visible on her face. 'Well, here goes nothing..' She sat for a moment, in silence and then looked into Malaya's eyes and began to speak.

"OK. Here's the deal. I have an odd way of working. I don't dig smart asses, people who are chronically late, people unable to take direction or listen. Since I don't like these things, I am apt to punsih for them. This contract..." Here, Monika held up the packet. "Well, this contract gives me the right to punish as I see fit. It also gives my employee the right to leave with a nice severance package if she decides she can not work for me. The catch is, she can't complain or make waves if she decides to leave my employ~otherwise the severance package is denied."

Monika paused, marshalled her thoughts, began speaking again.

"Usually, the length of tenure is 9 months. You make it under me for that length of time, the company will help you with schooling, I will help put you on the fast track to management, if you want it. Something else if you decide not to stay. You make it 6 months with no fuck ups? I boot you upstairs to the higher ups. More money, better bennies, and no me...as an personal assistant to whomever has need of one."

Another moment of silence, and then Monika handed the small packet of papers to the girl.

"If you sign this contract, it is binding. You can't sue me later, not as long as I keep my word. You can quit when you'd like. As long as you cite any reason except for I am a mean cunt that abuses you~ you get the severance package and a good report. You stick it out? Either one of the two things I already outlined will happen. Think about it for a few minutes. If you sign it? Take everything down to Tristina. If you don't? Thanks for stopping by. We have nothing else to discuss."

Monika turned away then, glad her swivel chair was so quiet. Her eyes gazed through the huge window, out over the city. She had given this speech twice in the last year but both new hires had been quiet, professional types and unable to give her that spark she craved. They worked higher up now, for the VP of Operations and the VP of Advertising or some such shit.

She hoped this one turned out to have a little something besides the ability to roll her eyes and suck her teeth.

She sat quickly, her dancer perfections coming into play as she sat, as if she was at a ballet bar. She smiled, playing with her fingers for a moment. She looked up and perfectly met her eyes, not wavering for a second.

"OK. Here's the deal. I have an odd way of working. I don't dig smart asses, people who are chronically late, people unable to take direction or listen. Since I don't like these things, I am apt to punish for them.

She swallowed hard, mind swirling. What was she running here? Punishment? She wondered what kind, but then…smirked. She could handle everything else, but being a smart ass? That was in her blood. All the woman did it in her family, and as far she had known, nobody was all, goodie goodie and shit.

She could do this.

“Usually, the length of tenure is 9 months.

She nodded at her word, biting her lip, realizing her tongue ring was missing and rolled her eyes at herself. She took the packet gently, making sure to glance it over while she continued speaking. She felt an excitement build inside her.

She didn’t have a problem with it. She could easily do it. No without punishment, of course, but she could. And besides, she was here already.

“I think I’ll sign it, Mam. I can definitely stick it out as you call it.”

She smiled brightly, a hint of sarcasm inside her voice and grabbed a black pen off the desk, going through the packet signing her signature. She stood fully then, handing her the papers.

“Anything else?”

“I think I’ll sign it, Ma'am. I can definitely stick it out as you call it.”

Monika heard the girl's words and the little sarcastic undertone. That little hint of smart-assitude was what the previous two secretaries had been missing. She figured this could be well worth it, IF the girl didn't try to over step her bounds. And honestly, she wanted to see what else the girl was working with. Being JUST a smart ass wouldn't be enough to earn her anything except a tongue lashing or twenty. Malaya would have to do much better than that to have a chance at lasting 9 months.

“Anything else?”

Monika swivelled in her chair, allowing her eyes to focus on her new hire. The last question had been just a hair less than disrespectful, as if the girl thought she understood the game and had every intention of winning. It wasn't a game though, and Monika hoped to disabuse her of the notion. She looked at the proffered paper work, with a slight frown.

"Why are you attempting to hand it TO me. I said you would take the file to Tristina once everything was signed. That is what you will do. When you return, we will begin getting you up to date concerning the phone system and the extensions you will be making the most use of. There are two different types of word on you computer. I will check your proficiency in both. After all of that? Then you will go to the cafe down the street and grab us some coffees..."

Monika allowed her voice to fade as she gave the girl a thorough once over, her gray eyes skimming over the other girl's figure with obvious glee.

"And get yourself a bagel or something. You will be in charge of petty cash and I require a running total from week to week. That way I know when to request more funds."

The words ran out and Monika waited, just a moment, and then said, a hint of exasperation just evident, "Well, what the fuck you waiting for? Get moving!"

I will check your proficiency in both. After all of that? Then you will go to the cafe down the street and grab us some coffees..."

Malaya resisted the urge to roll her eyes, once again. She wanted to throw her middle finger up and say fuck it. She had attitude for days, but it didn't seem to phase this woman, and that was unusual. It was usual that girls were automatically intimidated by her and her attitude. She wasn't the one to flaunt it around, but it just was the simple fact that girls like to give attitude. She didn't give one unless she was given one first.

She saw her superior give her a look over-an obvious look over. She was happy with what she saw, and the look in her eyes made Malaya shiver-for what reason she couldn't even explain. She was used to guys--and girls--looking at her figure. This was somehow different, and she couldn't figure out why. The confidence she had was slightly faltered, and she only bit her lip and nodded in response.

"And get yourself a bagel or something. You will be in charge of petty cash and I require a running total from week to week. That way I know when to request more funds."

"Sure. That should be pretty easy. I like handling cash." Her stomach growled softly at the thought of getting food in her stomach. She didn't realize how hungry she was until just then.

She waited for any more instructions, glancing around the room.

"Well, what the fuck you waiting for? Get moving!"

Malaya almost retaliated, but only shook her head as she turned with a scowl on her face out the door.

She walked down towards the elevators and after going down and handing her papers to Tristina, she was back upstairs heading towards Mz. Castillo's office for the next task, which was the phone system.

While Malaya tended to the first order of business, Monika got busy pulling up the list of phone extensions and printing them out. Each 3 digit extension had a name listed next to it as well as the department those 3 digits led to. After all, it wouldn't do to make the girl work too hard, not on the first day.

By the time Malaya had slipped back into the main office, Monika was at the girl's desk, the paper in hand. She waited until the female had slid into her seat and then placed the paper beside the phone. One long nail tapped the page, her voice a low growling bark.

"These numbers are all you need to know. I noted names and departments as needed so if I tell you to get me such and so, just dial the extension listed."

The hand moved, touching a bright yellow button on the phone.

"Once you have called the right person, you hit this button. It transfers the call to my phone. Try it. Call Marcus Wellby...."

Monika walked back to her office and sat down, her fingers drumming a restless tattoo on the desk top.

Malaya came back quickly, anxious for more work, walking in to main office; she saw that Mz. Castillo was already at her desk, waiting for her to return. Why the hell did she get so nervous around this woman? It wasn’t like she hadn’t been around intimidating ladies before, and beautiful at that.

Slowly, she sat at her desk, biting her lip-a constant habit of hers, as the other female began her instructions.

"These numbers are all you need to know. I noted names and departments as needed so if I tell you to get me such and so, just dial the extension listed."

Malaya nodded, getting a strand out of her face, squirming in her seat. What the hell was wrong with her today? She never lost her cool, not in the craziest of situations, and she was getting irritated that she was losing it over one woman. She was listening though, and was determined not to let this get her off her stride. She couldn’t.

"Once you have called the right person, you hit this button. It transfers the call to my phone. Try it. Call Marcus Wellby...."

“Sure,” She said softly, her voice wavering slightly, glancing as she saw her walk away. Another eye roll.

She glanced at the sheet, looking for his name, and nodded to herself once she had found it. She dialed the numbers carefully, making sure she got it right before actually pressing the button.

“Hello?” A man's voice spoke on the phone shortly after dialing it.

“Hi, is this Mr. Wellby?”

“Why, yes it is. How may I help you?”

Malaya bit her lip. Now what? Just transfer it to her. She sighed silently to herself.

“Yes Sir, just a moment please.”

Her accent came out slightly on the last sentence, another sign of her nervousness and she cursed under her breath for not keeping her damn self under control. She pressed the yellow button, and after moment, hung up, hoping she did it correctly.

She bit her lip, waiting, anxious to see if everything went smoothly.

The yellow light blinked up at Monika from her phone. She hit the button and instantly Marcus Welby's voice insinuated itself into her ear.

"Hey Marcus, do you have the numbers for last quarter? Just the sales projections versus actual. You do? Good. Slip it into an envelope, will send my assistant after it in a bit."

Monika nodded once as she hung up. Malaya followed directions well, wasn't hesitant and seemed fairly intelligent. All in all, she should pick up most things pretty easily and make Monika's job much less difficult. At least, that was the plan. Whether or not Malaya promised to be just as interesting to train in other ways, remained to be seen. Learning was supposed to be half the fun.[/i]

After a few moments, Monika returned to the front office, a slight grin evident on her face.

"Good job. Perfectly done. We will start on word next. You have two types on that particular computer. The most important one Office Word. Click on Microsoft Office in programs and then find the correct one~Microsoft Office Word. Pull that up."

Monika then spent the next 15 minutes explaining what Office Word should be used for, the types of documents that might be needed, fonts and the rest. She finished the impromptu lecture with a request that Malaya acquaint herself with everything Word could do.

"Basically, Office word should be used for any proposals I have you type up. Any thing else can be done with regular Word or notepad, up to you. That means interoffice memos, lists, anything else. Got it?"

Monika didn't wait for an affirmative answer, instead she strode over to the lock box and pulled out a twenty dollar bill.

"OK, before we do anything else, take yourself out to get our coffees and you snack."

Malaya seemed to wait for forever on seeing how she did. She was a perfectionist, and doing anything less than perfect to her was an absolute fail. Then again, her ability to want to get under someone’s skin caused her to do things on purpose to get on someone’s nerves, and that’s where she lost occasionally, but she always corrected it later.

A few moments later, Mz. Castillo came back out, and it seemed liked she was satisfied. Malaya grinned herself, and gave a smirk of satisfaction.

"Good job. Perfectly done. We will start on word next. You have two types on that particular computer. The most important one Office Word. Click on Microsoft Office in programs and then find the correct one~Microsoft Office Word. Pull that up."

She nodded, quickly turning her chair fully so she could sit at the desk properly—back straight, level with the keyboard. She couldn’t lose her posture over a simple job. She pulled up Microsoft Office Word, and nodded occasionally while she explained. She made a mental note of all she said, and hoped she wouldn’t forget it all.

"Basically, Office word should be used for any proposals I have you type up. Anything else can be done with regular Word or notepad, up to you. That means interoffice memos, lists, anything else. Got it?”

“I got it, Mam.” Malaya said quietly,Her tongue popping lightly against the roof of her mouth.

She watched as she retrieved the money and stood, her stomach making a noise. Yes, she was hungry alright, and a bit of food would do her good.

"OK, before we do anything else, take yourself out to get our coffees and you snack."

Malaya nodded once again, stuffing it into her pocket. She watched her superior go, and rolled her eyes once again.

This definitely wasn’t going to be a walk in the park.

She quickly went down the elevator, and once she was outside, she felt the sun hit her forehead, and sighed softly. She might as well walk and get a few rays. She knew a good café place that had wonderful desserts, and figured she might treat herself a little.

It only took a few moments to get there, and once she opened the door, the sweet smells almost knocking her off her feet. She got in the relatively short line, to order her new boss’s drink.

Malaya had left that day and returned about half an hour later. That first day set the tone for the week. Monika noted the girl's perfectionist attitude and tendencies and worked to the girl's strengths~ multitasking, quick study, good with appointments and such.

They had a good first week, actually. No major blow ups, no confrontations, work done as ordered~well and quickly. She still hadn't spoken to Malaya much. There hadn't been anything that really needed to be explained after their first full working day and Malaya was quite capable of running Monika's office proficiently. Monika liked that.

Friday evening saw the girl leaving a little after 5 pm. All her work was completed, the in box empty, the outbox full. Monika went and grabbed all the paper work, glancing through professionally prepared reports, copies of memos from other division heads, the tally for the petty cash fund. All in all, the girl had done very well. Monika nodded to herself and headed out. The weekend was just getting started and she had plans to make.

xXx

"Damn. I should probably call Malaya and have her stop by that little cafe on the way in. Nah, can't. She has to use the office cash."

Monika had shown up for work at 7 am, her usual time. The weekend had been fun~ filled with dancing, drinking and partying. But, just like always, she was home in bed by 9 pm Sunday evening and up by 5 am on Monday. It was a good schedule and allowed her time alone to focus, before the offices got busy.

She hoped that Malaya would show up on time. As she had stressed at the beginning, punctuality was very important to her. The girl had done very well last week. Monika hoped she did just as well this week. Somehow, she was prepared for the girl to fuck up her perfect little run. Monika knew the type~a go getter, a smart ass, a rule bender. And that was an exciting thought...but god, NOT today. After all, the quarterly finance meeting was slated for later. It was important that the girl be on her p's and q's. It would be very bad if she wasn't.

Monika glanced down at her ivory linen pant suit and adjusted the black bracers that held the snugly fitted pants in place. She had tossed the jacket when she had gotten in and the crisp linen shirt lay open at her throat, making the classy men's style suspenders an even sharper contrast. Her eyes darted toward the clock. Five minutes til 9 am. The meeting started at 10. That meant, if Malaya was on time, Monika would be well prepared to defend her staffing needs today.

"Don't let her be late..."

She came back around an half- hour later, and got right back to business. It actually wasn’t that bad. She held her tongue for the most part the whole week, wanting to make a good expression. She ended that week on a good note, although they honestly didn’t talk much. Mz. Castillo? She had bitch written all over her, more so than herself, and it irked Malaya to the point of no return. She held her tongue in front of her though, biting her lip to prevent from letting another smart-ass remark escape her mouth.

Over the weekend, she celebrated, a few drinks here, a few there. She was barely legal, but legal all the way, and she spent the night out at clubs, hopping from one to the other, dancing, and seducing. She spent that Saturday and Sunday afternoon shopping for the new attire required for her job-suits, that sort of thing. She couldn’t help but want something tight, and showed off her curves. Something long didn’t fit her, nor did she want it too. Bending the rules couldn’t hurt that much. The guys in that office looked like they could have a little peep show every once in a while.

*||||||||*

Malaya woke up to the distinctive ringing of her house phone, seemingly to be ringing for five minutes. She wiped her eyes of sleep, lazily walking towards the hallway where her phone was.

“Damn, what?”

“Lay? What time is it.” She heard her brother’s distinct voice on the other end, knowing a smirk was on his face.

“What? Why does it matter? Its…”

She glanced at the clock.
9:43am.

Oh shit.

She hung up, not bothering to hear his laughs on the other end; she hurried, running the water while she scrambled for an outfit. She finally decided on blue and white-navy, a skirt and blazer set, with a pair of navy pumps-round toed, not pointed, and slipped into the shower.

A half hour later, she scrambled for a parking spot, very aware she was late. She walked, but didn’t run, not wanting to look like newbie or a suck up, and walked quickly into the building, getting into the elevator. She braced herself nobody would be waiting when she got to her floor. She straightened her outfit out, smoothed her hair and breathed a few times as it got to the sixth floor.

Ten o clock rolled around BUT Malaya was NO where to be found. Monika left the office, fuming and went for the staff meeting. Luckily, she had had all the pertinent files and information to have a good showing but she hated to be ill prepared. Malaya would pay for this. Most definitely.

By eleven, the meeting was over and done with. Monika had gotten her request for a new part time office associate for the upcoming busy season and she was pleased. However the closer she got to her office, the more anger bubbled to the surface. Malaya had picked the absolute WRONG day to break the punctuality rule.

"YOU. Get up and go to my office. Hands on the wall. DON'T fucking look at me. Don't speak. MOVE."

Monika's voice cracked out~ cold, soft, deadly. Until she had seen Malaya sitting at the desk like nothing was wrong, she hadn't realized just how pissed she was. The girl looked good. Very professional. Like some cute little office strumpet. The outfit wasn't acceptable. The girl wasn't acceptable, not right now. BUT she would be.

Monika didn't wait to see the girl move. Instead she strode into her private rest room and grabbed a black leather belt that hung, just inside the door. Her eyes were so dark that they looked black under the bright lights and Monika KNEW she had to get some sort of control over her emotions or the cunt would end up bloody and useless.

She breathed. Once and then again. In through the mouth, out through the nose. Pulling in a semblance of calm. Blowing out some of the anger. She hated being thwarted. She hated being made to look weak or bad. And Malaya had managed to make her appear to be both of those things...even if the girl didn't know it right then. She would learn though. Right now.

Malaya anxiously peeked from inside the elevator. She breathed a sigh of relief to find Mz. Castillo not there- in fact, a majority of the people weren’t.

She quickly walked to her desk, straightening her hair out, glancing at a compact mirror in her purse, and smiled, satisfied at her appearance. She saw the guys’ give her glances when they thought she wasn’t looking and she couldn’t help but want to give them a little show. It would have to wait though-she was still nervous, knowing that she had to take the medicine coming to her.

She finished a few tasks at the desk, typing and neatening up her area. It wasn’t long before she heard the voice she knew was coming.

"YOU. Get up and go to my office. Hands on the wall. DON'T fucking look at me. Don't speak. MOVE."

She froze for a moment, and only for a moment before, she swallowed hard, not daring to look into her eyes and see something she didn’t want to, and nodding simply, standing up; pushing her rolling chair back, as she once again straightened her outfit and walked to her office, a bit shakily. The more she thought about it, the more she tried to keep a brave face.

She glanced around the room for a moment, noticing nothing out of the ordinary and sighed. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. She walked to the wall away from view, carefully placing her left, then right hand shoulder level to the wall, spreading her legs shoulder width apart.

Monika walked from her private bathroom and stopped. The girl was standing as she had been told. She had placed her hands upon the wall, her back was straight and she seemed to be trying to hold herself together. That was all well and good. She made a very provocative sight, too. All lithe, limber and gently curved in her pretty little suit. Monika wanted to mess her up, muss her hair, make her cry.

With no words, Monika moved to the door way and pulled it shut. Now the room was effectively sound proofed and it wouldn't matter how loud the little cunt screamed. No one would hear her and that was JUST the way Monika liked it. Moving soundlessly, she strolled to a spot no more than a foot behind the girl and spoke, her voice cold, uncompromising.

"Ah, so you decided to show up, hmm? That's good. I thought we had discussed my punctuality rule. Matter of fact, I KNOW we did. You obviously have a very faulty memory. No worries, though. I shall help you remember."

She moved to the girl's side and dangled the leather strop before her face, letting her get a nice, long look at it.

"This is my friend, The Keeper of Time. You will meet him in just a moment. I just want to make sure that you understand WHY I feel you need to meet him. You being late? On any other day, you might have just been ignored or sent home without pay. Hell, I might have screamed a bit or something. BUT you chose today to be late. The day of an important upper staff meeting. A day when I NEEDED you to be on time. You compounded that mistake by not calling, by not warning me and by acting like you didn't KNOW you were late. Unacceptable."

Monika took a step back then and swung the heavy strop experimentally. It made a swishing noise that she enjoyed hearing. It had been far too long. With no further ado, she swung back and forward, hard, allowing the end to hit the girl squarely in the center of her back.

"I will quit when you cry. If you move? You can just keep trucking. I don't want a weak girl here. I don't want a late cunt here. I don't want someone who can not take a simple order."

No more words. Instead she concentrated on each swing, spacing them, hitting the girl on her back, her ass, her upper thighs. She would stop...eventually. But not until she heard crying and possibly...whimpers.

Malaya stood there, breathing hard. It must have been a mere two minutes, but it felt like hours. How long was she going to stand there and wait for her punishment? She knew she had done wrong, but she didn't know if the consequence would match the action.

She glanced around the room, and swallowed. It seemed normal. Nothing was out of the ordinary. It was just the same as she left it last week. Maybe this wasn't be so bad after all. Maybe she'd only get a firm talking to, or a week without pay.

"Ah, so you decided to show up, hmm? That's good. I thought we had discussed my punctuality rule. Matter of fact, I KNOW we did. You obviously have a very faulty memory. No worries, though. I shall help you remember."

Malaya jumped at the sound of her voice. How long had she been standing there?

Malaya sighed hard, swallowing again, determining not to let Mz. Castillo get the best of her. She said nothing though, keeping her eyes toward the wall. She felt her move again, and her eyes moved, following her. She saw the belt out the corner of her eyes and bit her lip. She kept it there for a long moment before removing it from her view.

Staff meeting? Did she miss that conversation last week? She sighed silently, her eyes closing. She heard the snapping and jumped a bit, biting her lip. What was she-

Smack.

Malaya yelped, tears instantly welling up in her eyes. She bit her lip hard. Wanting to scream, and cry at the same time. It hurt, but she determined herself to hold out as long as possible. It wasn't in her blood to go down without a fight. She sighed after a moment, when the pain was subsiding and the red was leaving her eyes.

"I will quit when you cry. If you move? You can just keep trucking. I don't want a weak girl here. I don't want a late cunt here. I don't want someone who can not take a simple order."

She simply nodded a quick moment, swallowing hard once again. And, the pain started again, spreading into different areas. Some places she hit, literally made her cry out- like her ass. Others made her jump, jerk. She didn't dare move from the spot. She wasn't a weak girl, and wouldn't dare be put in that category. Not crying was hard. She knew better not to move. Her feet stay planted to the ground, as hard as it was.

Mz.Castillo wouldn't let up-the more time went on, the harder and sharper she hit, making sure to hit the tender and sensitive areas she must have known were getting to her. She couldn't help but let tears flow. They were making her her eyes go red rimmed and puffy, flushing her cheeks. She cried silently, a dark look on her face. She was losing the battle, and she knew it. She bit her lip hard, drawing a tiny bit of blood. She licked it then, and shook her head, not knowing how much more she could take.

Monika paced herself, switching from hand to hand, aiming for different spots. The girl held still for most of it~ her body only jerking away when a particularly vicious strike landed. That didn't matter, just as long as the girl didn't attempt to run.

Eventually, the almost silent sounds of crying began to vibrate through the air. The girl didn't scream, beg, yell. That made it even better, because when she broke, it would be ALL at once. After a few more strikes~across the girl's lower back, the jut of her her fat ass, the backs of her strong thighs~ Monika allowed the strop to go limp.

"Get out of my fucking office. Clean your face, reapply your make-up and get your ass to the cafe to get us some coffee. Grab me a bagel~blueberry. Grab yourself something. When you return, be prepared to work. YOU have lots of shit to get done today."

Monika strode into the bathroom and hung the leather strop on it's peg. By the time she had washed her hands, reapplied lotion and eyeliner? The girl had fled the inner and outer offices, probably to do as she was told. No matter. She would be back.

The phone rang, no more than twenty minutes later. Mills in Accounts needed her write up on their market shares for insurance rates. Obviously, Monika didn't have that kind of shit just laying around. However, it wouldn't be hard to get it together. She told him so.

"Give me an hour to pull the different pieces together. I will send the girl up to you with it, but you owe me, man."

Malaya breathed a sigh of relief, her face, stained with tears, and nodded slowly, not wanting her to see her face of defeat, she walked quickly to the door, breathed a few moments, the stinging of the marks burning her back, and waited til she had at least partly caught her composure before opening the door. She walked quickly to the bathroom, her hair hiding alot of her face, even though she saw people staring, and she wondered if they heard her, heard Mz. Castillo. She didn't think they had, but kept her head down as she walked, her body sore.

She reached the facility bathroom, shut and locked the door, leaning back against it. She breathed once or twice, determining not to cry. Again. She looked in the mirror, and sighed. Her make-up was a mess. She washed it was water, cleaning the rest of the make-up off, reapplied, and sighed once again once she was presentable. She wasn't broken, and wouldn't be.

She walked out then, feeling somewhat normal, even though her back and ass still stung like hell, she didn't let it get to her. She grabbed some money from the safe, and headed out to do as she was told.
----------------------------

A half hour later, she was back at her desk, a apple fritter for her breakfast as she begin typing her daily list for the day, and answering phones.

She wouldn't be broken yet.

Monika allowed the morning to pass with a minimum of fuss or words. Quite frankly, beating that girl's ass had mellowed her out and it wouldn't have mattered if Malaya fucked up every paper or task she was given, Monika paid it no mind.

As it was? The assistant did her job well, and in a timely manner, pulling the records required by the people upstairs, retyping the whole shebang and delivering it before she ever stepped out to lunch. By three, all the work was filed, all the typing done, all the lists that required notations finished.

Monika had been pleased by the girl's efficiency and told her so. Finally, as four pm hit, she strode out into the outer office and gave the girl a look. One gray eye peered at the mocha skinned girl while she debated saying anything besides good job. However, Monika had learned how to be an easy task mistress, how to keep herself out of trouble with the courts and the upper levels of management.

"Thank you for today. You have done well and are free to leave for the day. I expect to see you tomorrow morning, no later than 830. No excuses."

That was it. Nothing more to say. Monika turned on one high heel and returned to her office, shutting the door firmly behind her.

The rest of the day went by with no trouble. She did everything she was supposed to do-thoroughly and to perfection. It was her doing her best, wanting to get what happened earlier behind her, and move on, though she knew she wouldn't forget.

She had alot of tasks to get done. She didn't want to mess it up of course. Being a perfectionist came with consequences, and every time she sat down was a constant reminder of what could possibly happen if she didn't.

Eventually 4 PM rolled around. She decided to keep working until she was told she could leave. As a precaution. It was fuckin' messing her mindset, everything she knew about herself, working here, and she couldn't figure out why, but the pay was way too good to stop because of emotions.

She didn't realize Mz. Castillo had been standing there, and jumped from the mere sound of her voice.

"Thank you for today. You have done well and are free to leave for the day. I expect to see you tomorrow morning, no later than 830. No excuses."

Malaya stared for a moment, then nodded, very aware that she would probably be early tomorrow morning. She soon as her boss shut the door, she let out a sigh, followed by a curse under her breath for a moment, before standing, gathering her things and heading home for a much needed bath, and a goodnight's rest.

|******|

She woke up at 7 that morning, determined to be in the office by 8:15 and be early for a change. The phone rang, and she already knew who it was, because it was fun to see her get annoyed for some reason.

"What??"

"Well damn, you're up early, what's the occasion?" Her brother asked. She rolled her eyes, wishing he could see.

"There is none. What? You don't think I could be up early if I wanted to?"

"...She chewed yo ass out didn't she?" he said quietly. I sucked my teeth loudly.

"Nope." He laughed.

"Come on, you don't even sound the same. I told you she wasn't anybody to mess with. She's more of a bitch then you are. And that's saying something. Maybe she can, uh...whip you into shape."

"Fuck. You. Okay? She didn't do shit, and she can't do shit. That's the difference between me and her."

"Ya, I hear you talking. But you'll see. I'm at work though, I'll hit you up later."

"Whatever." She said, annoyed.

She hung up, sighing at five minutes gone by already, quickly got ready for the day. After a long shower, which included shaving and all the perks, and her wearing a grey pants suit, her hair down today, she was at her desk, neatening what she could of her space.

After work

The ex had called. Monika was in absolutely NO mood for that stupid bitch, but she took the call and agreed to meet her at their old apartment. Of course, the dumb broad said it was so they could finish going through the things left there, finish divvying them up, but Monika knew what it really was. Cunt wanted a fuck for old times sake. After whipping the tight ass of her assistant earlier? She was more than ready to throw her ex one, for old time's sake.

The evening went just like Monika assumed it would. Old girl got to pouting, whining about not getting off for weeks. Within an hour of meeting up, they were going at it, like caged beasts. Scratches, bites, bruises. It all was fair. It all felt good. When it was over? Monika grabbed the shit she wanted and bailed. The ex was the ex for a reason. No furious fuck was going to change anything.

By nine PM, Monika was home, in the shower and planning the next day's work schedule. By ten? She was in bed, lights out, body gloriously nude and worn out. She did not dream.

The next day

Monika showed up for work at quarter after seven, her eyes riding a little low and a touch grayer than normal but all in all, her normal bitchy self. She wondered, as she slipped into her favorite black stilettos, if Malaya would be on time.

"No point is stressing it. The girl don't show today by 8:30 and she ain't going home until after every one else has left for the day. I will tie her ass down...."

A quick laugh, one that didn't bode well for the girl in question and Monika set about doing her make up. She glanced at the clock from time to time but otherwise paid no mind. After all, Malaya would either be here or she wouldn't. She heard the main office door crack open at about 8:15 and opened her door to see who it was.

"Good morning Malaya. I see you made it on time. Pull up your work station schedule, please. We have two reports that need to be retyped and I have some info in a word doc that needs to be cleaned up for the HNIC. I will be forwarding that to you in about an hour.

However, before you get started, grab some cash and get our coffees. I need a blueberry muffin. Get you something, too. Be prepared to bust that sexy ass, today."

With those words, Monika turned on her heel and retreated into her office. The smile that had showed up there was completely self satisfied. No point in letting the girl see that and get offended.

She turned, seeing her boss, looking normal, and bitchy, as usual, acting like yesterday when she nearly made her cry had not happened. Really? It took Malaya a few seconds to process everything thing she had said. She finally replied with a polite, “Yes Mam,” and stood, smoothing out her pants, and bent over to grab a 20 from the safe so she could go to the usual place.

Be prepared to bust that sexy ass, today.

Malaya stood straight up, the words finally processing fully.

She was pretty sure she had heard correct—but ran through it a few times in her head. By the time she was going to ask, Mz. Castillo was already in her office, the door closed.

She shrugged, grabbing her cell phone, and out the door quickly to the coffee shop that now knew her by name. She took her time, knowing she didn’t have to rush.

“Lay? Is that you?”

Malaya recognized that voice anywhere. It wasn’t hard to miss—his Spanish accent rolled through even though hhe tried to hide it. She turned, biting her lip to see Emmett. He was an old friend-more like fuck buddies. He wasn’t boyfriend material, too…nice in her case. But he was a good guy that liked to please. And he did, when it came to his tongue. She smiled at herself at the thought.

“Hey, Emmett, how are you??”

He shifted his weight to the other foot, standing over her at 6’1”. “I’ve been good. I’ve…missed you.”

She stared at him for a moment. “You have?”

“Yeah, been thinking about you. We should talk in my car. More…private.”

Those last few sentences told her all she needed to know. 30 minutes later? She was fixing her pantsuit, still trembling, as she silently thanked him and got out of his 2 door Eclipse, grabbed the breakfast quickly, and headed back to the office.
