Discussion Thread - 10th Annual Literotica Reader's Choice Awards

Cute. That might send me into the river with bricks in my pocket too.
That went right over my head, as probably it should.

You guys carry on with whatever you is talking about. I'll retreat back to the sidelines where I should have stayed in the first place.

Godspeed.

No. No one wanted to play a joke on me that week, I guess. :D

You only need a little poke over the top. You might start more threads smugly trumpeting your victory. Does that qualify as premature ejaculation?

Get a sense of humor, moron. My threads were all done with tongue firmly planted in cheek. I had fun poking fun at myself and at my own expense. It's people like you who are looking to start trouble.

I knew I'd have no chance in Hell in winning anything on this site, which is why I voted for ManyFeathers. You just love stirring up shit because you have no life. You live here 24/7. This forum board is your life.

When do you find the time to write your dime novels? I guess it doesn't take much effort to write the shitty E-books you write in a week, huh?

So, you don't know how VW met her maker, I take it?

Happy to report that you something in common with the rest of us. We enjoy making fun of you too. You're such an easy mark. :)

With all due respect, I have no doubt that you are a very talented poet. However, the contest is for the Most Influential Poet in 2008.

You didn't submit any poems in 2008. Did you really expect to win a category where you didn't even submit a single poem? I'm surprised you were even nominated.

Moreover, you submitted only 2 poems in 2007 and 2 in 2006.

Hey, I'm the first to admit that I'm no poet, but I did write 21 of them in 2008 alone and 48 in 2007.

Pardon me for thinking that I should beat a poet in the Most Influential Poetry conctest of 2008 who didn't even submit a poem for consideration. Or does this contest have special rules that counts all poems, even if they were written 3 and 4 years ago?

Perhaps, they should change the name of the contest to the Most Influential Poet for all eternity.

You need to reread my original post, particularly these lines from paragraph two:

Yes, I'm a nominee and no I'm not winning, not by a long shot. That's as it should be in my opinion because I wrote very little here in the past year.

You also need to bear in mind that I did not nominate myself. Go back and look at the nominations if you care to check that. And finally please consider that "influential" has more to do with quality of poetry, the influence one's poetry has on others at Lit and ways in which the person is active as a poet on this site than with the number of poems one submits in the time period covered by the contest. What have you done for poetry here besides write those 21 poems? Have you given other poets comments and feedback? Have you particpated in poetry challenges or discussions about poetry? Have you offered to critique or otherwise help any new poets at Lit? Er no, you haven't.

Of course you might win. And if you do, I hope that in the coming year you'll plan to make at least one or two comments on others' poems, maybe participate in a discussion on poetry (as opposed to arguing about why you deserve to win), maybe do some poetry reviews, give some feedback and/or critique. Then, if you're nominated again next year, you'll have some substance in the category. Good luck to you.

Influence isn't really the quality or amount of anything. It's the effect on the action of something else. You can vote the category on any criteria you wish, but "influence" has a defined meaning. If the category is about the quality or number of poems, it should have used a different term.

I would think that the precision of word use would mean something to a poet.

I'm the first to admit that I'm not a poet and I have written that when first nominated. I'm a writer. I write stories. That's my talent. I only wrote the poems that I wrote for the Survivor Contest and I apologize for all of them. Yeah, sure, they were the best that I can do, but they certainly are basic, at best.

Just as I don't deserve to win as the most influential poet, neither do you. You haven't written a poem in 2008 and I haven't committed myself to helping others with their poetry. So...we've even.

Thank you for voting for me as the Most Influential Poet. Your check is in the mail. And thank you for the nice e-mail.

You write? I never would have guessed. :D

Ah, you're too kind. We green E recipients my stick together. Too many of the other, so called, writers don't have a green E and we both know who they are, which would certainly explain their jealousy.

Gotta be more subtle in sucking up than that, Freddie, to get my very-much-unused-and-available Most Influential Poet vote. :D

Congrats to all the winners AND nominees.

Same goes for me. Congrats to all of you. It's an honor just to be in the top nominations. Thank you to all who voted for me in the non-erotic catagory. It was much appreciated.
with respect

I'd like to congratulate myself for unofficially winning the Most Influential Poet. Oh, wait. I also officially won it. ahh ha ha ha... Actually, thank you, Freddie. Without you, it's possible I wouldn't have won. Well, I just wouldn't have received THAT many votes.

Hey, all kidding aside.....Congrats to all the nominees to get your name out there for recognition and to the winners who get to claim the honor for another year. Nice job by all!

Even nicer that the readers took the time to read and vote on their favorites. Don't fool yourself, it's why we write and why we try to improve.

I am Yours Sinserely,

Congratulations. You deserved to win. You, as well as the others nominated are, without doubt, very talented poets.

Now, what will you do to make this site better?

You are given a responsiblity to make more writers who aren't poets, poets. I hope you will take this award seriously and raise this site to higher levels.

Yes, I realize that, in my reading of the poetry thread, you have already done much. Yet, we all need to work together to eradicate those who don't take the craft of writing seriously. This could be such a wonderful place for writers as well as readers, but there are too many who bash what we write and ruin what we are trying to accomplish as artists. Don't you agree?

That was stirring. Brought a tear to my eye. Where's the damn crying emoticon?
I, WickedEve, plan to continue on as poetry forum moderator, welcoming new poets and pissing off (but delightfully so) the rest.

Thanks!

I'm so excited to have won! My first award on this site, and I am thrilled am grateful, particularly to Sack for his early support, StoryPal for his editing, and A.Sarorius for alerting me to the contest. I really am very, very grateful, and, of course, to everyone who took the extra time to cast a vote. I an now working with renewed vigor on some future stories! - Charles Petersunn

Congratulations!

I have not read many stories on this site other than yours. Don't remember how I found you, but I'm glad I did. Your stories have so much reality and detail that I wonder about your life experiences that give you this select knowledge. I've read most of your stories and will complete the list soon, and I commented on all of them as ChucsSite (I made an error in spelling so I just changed it to ChucksSite yesterday and that change will eliminate my posting record. (I tried writing to the site managers as soon as I discovered the error, but they never answered or changed it as requested.) In some of my comments, I wished that you'd write about the youngest daughter of Mr. Peterson (any relation to you?) and her introduction to sensual sex with her dad. I'm not a huge fan of spanking or hurting or embarrassing women, but your stories inevitably lead me to an erotic hard-on, and that's the best reward that I can think of.. So, again, congratulations for winning - I cast the 20th vote. Hope many more come your way - you deserve it!
