MM penguins are meticulous in the cleaning of their feathers - the water is bloody freezing ! There's a gland on their faces that keeps them waterproof , simply put , a dirty penguin is a dying one.

Yes it does mate - it was a small spill from an "empty" tanker that ran aground here. The colony lives on a beach that covers about 3/4 mile and the ship grounded 200 yards off that beach. All the birds were captured abd not released until the spill was sorted out and the ship towed away. Was about 4 months in total - the oil company footed the bill.

Did Wolves turn their season around on Saturday matey , my lads got done by Birmingham - at home !!

I know about the gland, it is the appearance of what is on the penguin in the picture that I was asking about. I would have thought that oil would have been darker in color than what is on the penguin.

No I hadn't mate :( Just read the Mirror now - I remember us signing him from Bolton when I was a nipper! Great player , terrible laugh , but 57 is no age , he put up a brave fight - another good man leaves us. :(

You cheeky bugger !!! ;) If memory serves me right there was a abnd called The Beatles who were pretty decent lyricists !! In fact we can start a thread on musicians from Liverpool that'd run forever !! Now that famous breeding ground , Wolverhampton , I can't seem to recall ANY good bands from there matey!!

Blimey Pengy - you almost as old as I am !! I remember hearing Slade on a Radio 1 afternoon prog , midweek when I was still at school - 1970 or thereabouts! Noddy Holder was triffic and I saw them once in Northwich - but the sound system was crap and the beer was brilliant - so the beer won ! :)
