My feeling had been "Urban Legend", re-enforced by the anal sex fad a while back.

Con: In my day, less than 1 in 10 tried anal, and most first experiences were bad ones. It seldom happened again for quite a while, or unless the woman was put under pressure.

Pro: With the internet, women wanting to substitute anal for PIV sex could find out how to do it right, and might have a good enough experience that they would keep on with it.

I suppose that since none of the younger people have stories to confirm anal in lieu of PIV, the cons win.

Neither argument wins. Many women enjoy anal; that's undeniable. I've known more than one, and their response to the anal intrusion proved it. Other women do not enjoy it. You can't make any arbitrary judgement and expect me to buy it. My experience reinforces that finding.
