Okay.

So.

None of you are going to believe this.

You really-- you just aren't. Let me just start this by saying that you are going to think I'm making this up, "pics or it didn't happen" except with no pics.

I was absent-mindedly studying David's filmography today, and noticed-- not for the first time --that he'd been Touchstone in a 1996 production of "As You Like It" with The Royal Shakespeare Company. Not for the first time, I fondly remembered going to see a production of "As You Like It" by The RSC, in which Touchstone had been by far my favourite performance, despite the presence of Liam Cunningham, an obscure actor whom I'd also seen in other things.

Suddenly I realised today that the Touchstone I remembered had a gorgeous accent and was whooped at by some other girls in the audience, clearly the charismatic highlight for them, too. I remember the look of surprise and delight on Touchstone's face as he realised the reception he was getting from the fairer sex.

Suddenly I realised today that the Touchstone I remembered and the Touchstone David played were one and the same. I even texted my Dad in Idaho to confirm that we went in '96.

I'VE SEEN HIM LIVE.

OH MY FUCKING GOD I'VE BEEN IN THE SAME ROOM AS TEN.

So I was starting to read this RP and got to the 'gun kata' reference (SQUEEEEEE!!!!)
and it reminded me of something.
I'd seen 30 minutes of Equilibrium like 5 years ago.
And then I saw Bale in Batman Begins and Dark Knight. And 3:10 to Yuma. And a couple other things. And I said to myself, maybe Christian Bale can make ANY movie good.
I rented Equilibrium and Reign Of Fire. Lets face it, both have pretty weak premises so they seemed ripe to be horrible.
I stood by my man. CB was gonna make it OK.

I'm here to tell you that my hypothesis was disproven with every minute of Reign Of Fire. Even he could not save a movie so poorly written, so poorly conceived, and so full of problems, INCLUDING A MCCONAUGHEY. Mr. Bale is but one man.
(I won't even bore you with my rant about that whole freefalling to capture dragons bullshit)

I end this barely related story now.
