Down the rabbit hole

Alas, you can tell @Apisto42 is not from the south.

Grits and cornmeal mush are not, in fact, the same. Grits are made from hominy.

#southern
As in 'hominy hominy '?

*heads off to find google*
Cornmeal - a coarse flour made from grinding corn kernels.

I feel like that should not be confusing. 🤔
I don't think we have cornmeal here.

For reasons.

But I will check.

For the nerdy and although nobody will care

Polenta comes from flint corn...different taste, texture, color and starch level. It is coarse ground.

Grits are from different varieties of dried hominy...corn treated with lye and dehusked. Grits are fine ground

They taste similar but polenta is more delicate I think.

What are the two burned things?
The round all black thing is black pudding. It was soft and delicious. The other dark thing is a mushroom cap. Also delicious.
And why is the bacon always semi-cooked and . . . floppy looking?
It was more cooked than it looks, and it’s really ham, not bacon.

You did previously? 😲

Really? I think of this as the other way around. 🤔

Why am I having such an issue recognizing mushrooms? 🤣

That is just not typically how we serve them here, I guess.
