A group of people from all corners of the world suddenly vanish from their homes and wake to find themselves on a strange island somewhere in the tropics. As they try to figure out what happened, they begin to realize that each person has been given a special power. They try to learn more about these powers, and venture into the nearby jungle, running into a variety of creatures, almost all intent on eating them.
A strange man comes to their aide -- he is Dumar, a resident of the island who guides them to a cave further up the coast. He displays powers like them, and explains that the cave is home to a very old dragon. Apparently, the dragon rescued Dumar from a nearby plane crash when he was an infant and raised him as a son. He had been bleeding badly and on the verge of death, the only survivor of the crash. The dragon had given Dumar some of his own blood, leading to the child growing up with special powers.
In the thirty years Dumar has been on the island, he has never seen another human, only the dragon and creatures of the island. Dumar thinks the dragon may have brought the characters to the island and given them powers, but wonders why. However, they cannot go ask the dragon because as far as Dumar knows, he is away from the island. With no other choice, they wait.
The characters focus on learning to control their powers and getting to know each other. Dumar leads them deeper into the cave, revealing a labyrinth of tunnels and chambers. There is an underground lake, a library, a kitchen, and various dens and bedrooms with beds, couches, chairs, tables, etc. Dumar explains that the dragon often brings items back from his journeys in the outside world, and can take human form to blend in.
Each of the characters is given their own chamber, complete with furniture, candles, wash basins, etc. There are no doors, but there are curtains hung up over the entrance to each bedroom. They try to make themselves at home and learn from Dumar each day as they wait for the dragon to return.
Basically, what happened is the dragon visited each of the characters in human form and slipped them some dragon blood in their drinks. What happened then and how they ended up on the island will remain a secret until the plot unfolds more in-game.
So, anyone interested? Powers can be whatever. I will play the dragon and Dumar, obviously. Dumar's power is wind and air, which he uses to glide from tree to tree when navigating the jungle. He carries a long wood staff for stability which can also be used as a weapon.
Additionally, I will be playing Grant Warren, a twenty-four year old Parapsychology major from the University of Arizona. Shortly before appearing on the island he had earned his Master's Degree and was making plans to go for his Ph.D. He is a huge believer in the paranormal, which is ironic, because his special ability lets him alter his physical body to varying degrees to take on the properties of a ghost. Once he learns to control it, he can shift slightly, keeping him solid but letting him move super fast and use a white misty aura as a weapon. If he shifts completely, he can move at the speed of thought and then rematerialize, mimicking teleportation, but doing so leaves him weak. He can fly, but only in complete ghost form. He can't, however, fly or teleport away from the island, as a magical barrier keeps them there.
With experience, Grant will also be able to reach out with his spirit aura and touch things, mimicking telekinesis. He has to be very careful, though, because using his powers too much can leave him weakened or even dead. If he stays in ghost form too long, he will not be able to rematerialize his body and be trapped as a spirit.
To give us some action while we wait for the dragon, we could also have the characters deal with problems from the monsters and creatures on the island, including a few smarter baddies. Maybe they end up defending a faerie nest from invading goblins or something. It's a big jungle, lol.
Let me know what you think
