Drawn Like a Moth to the Flame...

As Lime and EL have already mentioned, a sense of humor.

If he jokes a lot, and his jokes make me laugh; since I joke a lot, if he laughs at my jokes — that’s a good start.

After that, it is the nature of his jokes — what his humor reveals about his values.

LadyJeanne..isn't body language fascinating? the pupil dilation thing is very handy...not so much for online interaction though *chuckles*
I have no idea what my pupils do, but when I am attracted/aroused (anywheres from A to Z) my lower lip quivers involuntarily. It happens later too when I am merely speaking about a bloke; my friends know this and tease me about it ("Ah ha, look at that lip, you're caught again!") I just laugh cos there's nothing I can do to hide it.

No, and it's not much good on the phone, either, which is my current predicament. Then, you're relying on tone which is often equally telling but harder to decipher when you can't see the eyes or body language. I've read that at least 70% of communication is done through body language.

Perdita..a wobbly lip eh? I blush. oh yes i do. if i like a guy i'll go pink. So I just can't hide it. woe is me.

Jeanne...yes about 70% is body language..amazing eh? no wonder misunderstandings abound in these written word message boards. It is a little easier with a voice...you can hear at least the intonation....

Body language

More closely 90% from what I've read.

90% of eye to eye communication is by body language. Only 10% by the actual words.

Favourite immediate turn on which would turn off others: squint/cast.

Karen Black

Jane Kaczmarek

or even Carol Trotter from "Teachers" (an excellent drama/comedy series)

Gauche

Gauche...you'd love the lady who lives next door to me.

One eye is always looking out.

She freaks me out. More because she's always drunk and inappropriatley touchy...but hey. lovely neighbourhood I live in *L*

El, you crack me up. Here, esp. cos your post was to the pumpkin head. P. :D

I like a man to be bigger than me physically. He needs to be able to pick me up and throw me down on the bed a la bad historical romance novels.

Voice is always a key thing - I don't care how physically attractive a man is, if he has a voice comparable to fingernails on a chalkboard, I won't get anywhere close.

Someone open, honest and intelligent will always be what I like.

And, of course, the most important thing: a man that thinks I'm sexy and attractive, and doesn't mind showing it.

Major infatuation with upperclass english accents, here. Most people think they sound pansy, but a good accent will make me go weak in the knees every time.

Also, I love a strong jawline, and I want a bit of a belly on my guy. Fit is alright, but I can't stand that macho, work-out-at-the-gym-three-times-a-day frame.

... And he MUST be at least 10 years older than me. I refuse to date anyone my age or younger.

Personality-wise, well, I think my physical description already pretty much spells it out. I love literate, educated, strict, well-mannered, snappy-dresser types. I also tend to be drawn to the serious, intense persona, which is slightly odd because I'm such an easy going person.

For further info on my ideal man, see any Colin Firth movie.:D

Passion. About life, about people, about whatever beliefs they hold regardless of whether or not I agree.

The ability to put themselves into someone else's shoes.

Intelligence. A definite must and the sexiest thing on earth.

An easy laugh, a quick wit, & those expressive eyes mentioned by the lovely Miss Colly.

Oh, and a killer ass. ;)

Cloudy..oooh good point. A good voice is important to me too. Had wonderful cyber with one guy for a while..then he rang me...oh and what an awful voice...needless to say no phonesex was had that day*L*

SH...upperclass english turns me on too. Dr Bashir from Deep Space now...wooowwwee!

Minsue..Passion and a killer ass. Yup i'm with you there too!

She must : Be interested in finding out what i think, how i feel.
: Be unafraid to be vulnerable.
: laugh at my jokes.
: make me laugh.
: Swallow!

cheers blokie :) I like the uinafraid to be vulnerable..I think i'd say that too.

What attracts you to a person? Not just that but what personality traits or certain physical attributes really gets you going even though you know that in the eyes of most people they are unattractive qualities?

So what turns you on but you suspect turns most other people off?

I know it's mostly propaganda, but from the way women tend to be portrayed in advertising, modeling, and a good deal of entertainment (esp television), I think the fact that I find your typical thin limbed, narrow waisted, no bosom or an exaggerated, obviously false bosom female figure not a draw in the least would prolly count.

I like a woman who's shapely.
Who knows how to speak...both her mind as well as just in general...
Who can be as eccentric and multifaceted as I can be...
And, while capable and compentent, isn't afraid of letting me hold a door for her, or pull out her chair, or any number of other little things that people these days seem to think are controlling measures...

<smile>

I'm too much of a switch (depsite what I've been told to the contrary) to focus on control to that detailed a level...<g>

I also love hairy legs.....oooooooh yes really hairy, hairy legs. yum.

<leaning back in chair>
<stretching thick, toned, furry legs>
<brushing stray lint from equally furry arms>
<sipping thoughtfully at soda>
I see...hmmm....sort of the way I like bottom-heavy women, eh? The whole pear-shaped figure, y'know?

:p

I've posted this before. My 'type' is tall, lean, gaunt and pallid with a minimally baritone voice (often equals British or Russian). My friends say I like them consumptive. (Yeah, I love Chopin too.)

<making a quick checklist>
tall...6'2" check
lean...keep on diet, start exercise program
gaunt...increase diet to next level, buy slightly oversized clothes to add effect...<g>
pallid...<think> stay indoors until usual somewhat ruddiness and "farmer's tan" fades for good...
consumptive...stop taking as much allergy meds, cough more...hehehe

:kiss:

*ticks the list*

Shapely. check

Speak my mind. check

eccentric. double check ;)

Likes a bit of gallantry. check

( I love it when someone holds a door open for me...I think it's just common courtesy actually)

*stares at Remecs hairy bits and drools*

Number one is intelligence. Not necessarily book smarts, high IQ, (although that is good). I mean real work knowledge, current events, politics, etc. Stupid, uninformed people get on my nerves in a very short period of time.

Also as several have mentioned, a zest for life. She has to want to have fun and enjoy life. (See green quote in sig line for clarification.)

She also has to take care of herself physically. Not be a skinny stick like a model and have 10 layers of make-up, but be in good shape. I take time to exercise and try to take care of myself so it's important to me that whoever I'm with does to.

For the more superficial items, glasses, I don't know why, I just love a woman in glasses.

Also I love a woman who can sing. :cool:

Looks aren't that important

But I always look at the hands... and the eyes but everyone looks there. The hands are a major turn on to me. Personality traits you ask? (no one really did but it makes me feel good to pretend) I like a dry wit. If only Gauche were a woman... Ah well, I like to trade barbs, and being able to do it... (trade barbs you nasty minded people) while doing what everyone else is thinking about, is awsome, fun, and usually signifies someone that is willing to try new stuff, to learn or to teach. Either way, I'm in.

Oh! and Karate chicks... there's nothing more fun than a karate chick.

JJ1

Physically, when it comes to my turn-ons, I like fairskinned guys with short-medium dark hair and dreamy eyes. I'm 5'8, so I like someone my height or taller. Mostly clean-shaven.

Mentally, I like 'em clever, creative, articulate and passionate. Smart, but not too much smarter than myself. Good with computers, electronics. Readers. Fanboys. Gamers.

Accents are good, too ... esp. Scottish.

Sabledrake

JustJohn..ahh reading that reminded me of several guys in school. One in particular wasi n my art class. We NEVER said a nice word to each other, insults flew back and forth constantly. I lOVED Art. It was such fun and we both knew that. Another guy was similar. He never said a nice word to me, but yet he would always be around when i needed someone just to joke with ya know.

A good barb trading does this heart good :)

Sabledrake..for me it is more the voice than the accent....but a deep, soft velvety voice coupled with an American accent (any of the varients) and *shudder* oh baby...
