Driftwood Inn

Helping Trinity with her possessions he got his sword ready and cast a dark seeing spell upon himself. He smiled thinly as he saw the innkeeper was nowhere to be seen.

"Don't worry Trinity, as long as you're with me, I'll protect you. If anyone wants to harm you they'll have to kill me first."

He felt Trinity squeeze his hand and she whispered, "I know, I have no fear when I'm with you."

Trinity looks at Azraith, "Jasmine... the singing one?"

Azraith looks slightly annoyed at the question but replies.. "yes... the singer..."

"She... I can feel her..."

"What?" Azraith almost grabs her, but Curtis quickly stands before his love stopping him. Azraith runs a frustrated hand through his hair and tries to calm himself. "Please... if you know anything..."

Trinity frowns... Curtis turns to her... "My love... what is it... do you know something?"
"I... I may... "
Azraith sharply interrupts... "she wanted me to help you... I can hear her... but I can't seem to find her... if you have any heart at all you MUST help me..."
Trinity's eyes take on a haunted look. She looks down at her hands and stands by herself, slightly unsteady. Curtis moved to rest his arms about her, but she lifted an arm to hold him off. He looked slightly hurt, but waited. She took a deep breath. She closed her eyes and she let that spark deep within her swell. It shone brightly within her, suddenly free from her constraints she felt the power overwhelm her. Filling her limbs with a spectacular heat and energy. Her eyes opened and they glowed with a blue light that was slightly eerie. Curtis moved to touch her but was stopped by the Elf who shook his head 'no'.

They watched as Trinity lifted her arms. Sparks flew from her finger tips as the energy expanded. A small ball of light emerged between her hands and grew quickly. When it was the size of a man's head she made a throwing movement and they watched as it rose above her and started to spin slowly independent of her. Suddenly the light in her eyes dimmed. She coughed, staggering before colapsing to her knees. Curtis would not be held back he rushed to her cradling her in his arms. She felt incredibly cold to the touch. Azraith stared at the ball of power still spinning slowly in the place she had released it.

"Trinity!" Curtis shouted with fear shaking her limp body in his arms, "wake up damn you... what have you done??"
She moaned. Frantic with relief he held her tight until she lifted her hand and pushed it against his chest. He looked down to see her eyes open, the familiar warm brown irises focusing on him. "Can't breathe... " she gasped. He losened his grip slightly still holding her close. "Show me..." she murmered. He understood and lifted her up into a sitting position so she could see the ball of light. She lifted up a hand and whispered... "ongaku kanojyo sagashi"

All watched as the ball of power slowly moved towards the barn door. "Azraith..." Trinity's faint voice murmered... "follow it... it will show you to your love... it will not stop until it reaches her... and any magickal obsticle in your way will be absorbed by it... however... man made obsticles you will have to deal with yourself. Once it has found her, the spell ends... you both will be on your own... do you understand?"

Azraith nodded and ran after the glowing orb that continued around the back of the inn and hovered before an old cellar door fitted into the ground. He watches as sparks of power rose from the door and was sucked into the orb. The door rattled. Quickly he hefted it open and saw stairs leading down into darkness. The orb silently floated down, casting an eerie glow that guided Azraith's footsteps.

Meanwhile...

Curtis stared at Trinity. "How... how did you do that?" Trinity blushed slightly. He helped her to her feet... relieved to feel the natural warmth coming back to her skin. "I... I found time to sneak into the library though it was off-limits... some books... were not purged... I was looking for a spell that would help me find you... I read and read... but I was too scared to practise it until now... " she lowered her eyes. He held a finger under her chin... "oh my love... I am so sorry I left you... will you ever forgive me?"
"Oh Curtis... there is nothing to forgive... how could I love a man who was not willing to find his own path, no matter how hard the decision to go? Oh no, my love, I am just happy you found me again..."
The elf made a noise in his throat. "Errr, sorry to interrupt M'Lady... but Azraith was right... we are in danger... we really must go... do you think you can travel?"
Trinity smiled, "I'm fine really, it's just that, I'm not used to it, and I kind of lost control, it was quite overwhelming... I'm fine... really!" She insisted at Curtis's stern look at her. "But, I have a feeling that Jasmine should be with us, maybe we should follow, or at least wait for them..."

OOC: Back again..lets see if I can stick around for a while..

IC: Azraith stood at the bottom of the steps, the orb lighting his way. He followed the glowing sphere through several hallways until he saw the sphere suddenly dart off and turn at a corner. Azraith ran to what he thought was a corner..but all he could see was a large, rather ominous door. "The sphere must have went through this.." Azraith pounded on the door sharply, it was a solid lock, and it wouldn't budge. "Jasmine..Jasmine!!" He shouted against the door. "Can you hear me?" A soft voice responded. "A..Azraith? Azraith!" It was Jasmine! "Get away from the door!" The prophet warned..and after a moment..his hands glowed a dark blue, and with a sudden yell of aggression, he slammed his empowered fists into the door, shattering it into mere splinters. Running into room, which was lighted by the orb, he quickly ran to Jasmine, hugging her. "By the gods, you're safe!" A dark, deep voice echoed from the doorway after Azraith said those words.."No..shes not, and neither are you for that matter, Azraith.." Azraith slowly turned to face the person at the door..a sudden feeling of dread falling over him..

Jasmine:

His strong arms came about her. "You found me," her mind whispered.

There was someone else here. UNCLE!

Azarith turned to face him. "You won't harm her, I swear it."

"Do you really think you can defeat me? I have powers you could never dream about. Jasmine warned you how powerful I am." A stunned look crossed Jasmine's face. "That's right niece, I CAN read thoughts. I know all your secrets. Did you know she used to sit in a tree and watch you practice at swords? Oh my little niece had many fantasies about you, dear boy. You were her knight in shining armor. To bad she will be your down fall."

"NO! Why are you doing this Uncle? Why do you hate me?"

"Oh my dear," there was no emotion in his voice. "I never hated you, but you took what was to be mine. Your mother gave you her powers when she died, but they didn't appear until you turned eighteen. She knew what I was, but couldn't find the one from the prophecy that could stop me."

Trinity. The thought echoed in her mind.

"That's right. The little princess. She isn't strong enough yet. My little spell kept her mind fogged. Once I have your powers. I will be strong enough to destroy her."

Her uncle slupped to the floor.
Tan'ra stood behind him with a log. "Come, let us go before he wakes up."

Jasmine grabbed Azraith's hand, feeling a little jolt at the contact. Ignoring it for now, she followed her friend out of the cellar.

Azraith hastily made it out of the room with Jasmine..looking down to Jasmine's uncle with a glare of disgust.."One day old man..one day soon." He nodded to Tan'ra in appreciation. "Thank you..but that won't last for too long..and he's probably going to be rather when he gets up, so if possible..no mental communications. He is stronger than I originally thought." Azraith look nervous for a moment..pacing back and forth outside the doors of the cellar. With a rather calm look in his eyes..he stopped. "I'll bind these doors...you two get back into the tavern, and find Trinity." Azraith threw back his hood and began to mutter some ancient, arcane words, his hands once again glowing a dark blue. Leaning down, He drew a intricate crest on the cellar doors with a finger, the outline glowing the same dark blue. After he stands tall and waves his hand, the crest flashes and the doors crackle with energy. "Good...that'll keep him locked up for a while." With that..he wandered back into the tavern..his powers a little sapped for the moment.

Trinity felt extremely tired and drained. She was still in shock from the sudden burst of power that moved through her. She had no idea it would be so powerful, and thus she had had no control over it at all. Her whole body ached, but it was a strange sensation, not like the ache of tired muscles over worked, more like... every nerve that had pulsed with energy now ached.

Curtis gathered their supplies into his backpack and together with the elf they left the barn. Standing outside, Trinity felt the cold air caress her skin. It felt good. "I'm so tired," she thought to herself. Curtis froze. She was too tired to notice. "What did you just say?" He asked his voice terse. "I didn't say anything..." Trinity looked up at him confused. "What were you thinking then?" He asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
"That I was tired..." she replied
"I heard you..."
"What!?"
"I heard your thoughts."
"But, that's impossible! I'm not a telepath!"
"I am though, and it seems that our close relationship allows me to read your thoughts, possibly only when you let your guard down though, so don't worry too much."
Trinity smiled, "I think it's wonderful that you can read my mind, it could be quite useful don't you think?"
Her eyes sparkled with mischief and for a brief moment, it was like they were kids again.
Jasmine and Tan'ra, rushed around the Inn to find Curtis, the elf and Trinity there. Jasmine walked up to Trinity and the two women stared at each other properly for the first time. It lasted several moments, until finally, as one they reached up to hold each others hands. It was like, recognition. They smiled warmly at each other.
"Jasmine, finally..."
"Princess..."
"Call me Trinity... please"
"Trinity..." Jasmine smiles
"Where is Azraith?"
As Trinity spoke Azraith came around the corner also. He looked a bit tired but he smiled seeing the two women together.

Curtis smiled when he saw everyone was there and accounted for and he pulled out a large book from his backpack and started flipping.

"I know it's in here...where is it?"

"What is that?" Trintiy asked slightly bewildered.

"It may be our only escape for a while, but until the prophosy is fulfilled none of us are safe...even the Darkwoods," he said sill flipping pages, "Aha!! Here it is."

He pulled out a small vial of salt. "Quickly everyone gather around." As they gathered together he sprinkled the salt on the ground in a circle making a shield around them. "I am sorry my love, but I won't be able to join you yet. I hope I suvive this." He then muttered an ancient incantation of teleportation that teleported them to Merlin's lair. 'Merlin,' he thought, 'Please take care of her and the others.' He drew his sword and got ready to attack.

Jasmine:

"He'll be okay Trinity, I can feel it. The important thing is that you are safe. There is much to tell you, some of it you may not believe." Jasmine took a deep breath, ready to tell all of the prophecy and Trinity's place in it.

"My mother was the Priestess Khalida, servant to Queen Mabis. When she died her powers were transferred to me, but they did not surface until I turned eighteen. Morbius, the innkeeper, is my uncle. He is the one responsible for all this. He is very strong, and according to the prophecy there is only one who can stop him. If he can kill her first nothing on this earth will be powerful enough to destroy him. The only way he can gain the strength to kill her is to gain my mother's power...my power, and the only way to gain my power is if he kills me. The one I speak of, the one who can destroy Morbius is you, Trinity." She looked shocked. Jasmine came and knelt before her new found friend. "It's true. Look inside and you will see it is. Morbius is the one who has kept your mind unclear. He knows you are the one, and he will come after you. We cannot let that happen. I will give my life before I let harm come to you. You have my word, Princess."

Jasmine embraced Trinity. So much to do.

"We need you Azarith, now more than ever." her mind whispered. "I need you."

Trinity felt Jasmine's arms hold her. She could feel her mind start to border or hysteria as she absorbed all this information. 'A prophecy?' She thought. 'Murder?' She shuddered. Her mind was still trying to deal with the sudden diappearance of Curtis. She knew in her heart that he had to leave her and that he would come back, but the hurt little girl in her was crying out in alarm.

"Why me?..." she moaned, finally giving into her feelings, she sobbed, her heart wrenching at the thought of this new weight on her shoulders. Jasmine looked into her eyes, she seemed so calm, Trinity thinks. Focusing on those eyes, she manages to stop crying, though she still felt very shakey. The elf made a noise in his throat.

"Err... are we planning on staying here? Or do we think perhaps getting as far away from Jasmine's uncle would be a good plan right now?"
Trinity looked up, fright written plainly in her eyes.
Jasmine kept one arm around Trinity's back in a gesture of comfort. "The elf is right, we should make plans... " She turned to Azraith, hoping he would have an answer, or at least a good idea of what they should do next.

There was a soundless blast of light as the cellar door flew off its hinges. Curtis knowing that he would be in for quite a fight stood ready.

Morbius rose out of the cellar enraged at his recent failure, Curtis knowing an attack now may be his best chance struck.

As he leapt he was hit with a force bolt to his chest and thudded to the ground several yards away.

"Ohhhh," Curtis moaned as he struggled to get up as he cursed at himself for his foolishness. Morbius grabbed him by the hair and pulled him up.

"Where are they?" Morbius said holding his other hand, transformed into a wickedly sharp blade to Curtis' throat.

"They're in a place that you cannot harm them," Curtis spat bringing his knee up quickly into Morbius' groin area and he was dropped.

He scrambled backwards thinking, 'Cotract with the dark one or not, he's still human. But I can only hold him off until Trinity's mind clears itself.'

The enraged Morbius came after Curtis lashing out with spell upon spell. Curtis, with his limited knowledge of magic fought to the best of his ability thinking and pleading that Trinity would remember.

OOC: ::forgot he couldn't post earlier..so, of course, is late as usual, ah well::

IC: Azraith sighed..pacing slightly as he tried to think. "That boy...damnit. He better stay alive." He sighed again, then noticed them all looking at him..and stopped pacing slightly. "Well..Trinity. We better start clearing that important mind of yours." Smiles a little..calming down a bit. "I know it sounds hard at a time like this..but the best thing for you to do right now is to relax..and try to clear your mind of any doubts or fears that you have. The sooner you do this, the sooner we can help Curtis." Azraith sat down, running a hand through his hair. "I..I'm sure he'll be fine, he seemed like a strong young man." Deep down inside Azraith wished he could be there right now..helping Curtis. It's been too long since he's had a decent challenge, and that Morbius seemed like, at the least, a more than worthy opponent. He quickly shook the thoughts off, looking up to them all again.

Jasmine:

"Azraith is right. I want you to lie down for a while. It will help you relax, and allow your mind to clear." Trinity layed down and closed her eyes, thinking of Curtis. "I'll watch over you." Jasmine whispered.

Her mind saught that of Azraith, she didn't want to disturb Trinity from her much needed rest. "He would kill you, you know."

"Who?"

"Morphius. As strong as you are. He would still defeat you. Only Trinity has the power, with her innocence and good heart, to destroy him."

"You seem very confident in your assumptions."

Jasmine stiffened. His words hurt. "I don't know why I bother. As much as you claim to have changed, you are still the little page I knew. I don't know how I know these things. It's just a feeling I have, like my mother is these things in my ear. I do know that I have been sent here to help Trinity in anyway I can. If you feel the need to go and be a hero, far be it from me to stop you. You always did that anyway. Probably to show off to the ladies of the castle."

She could tell she had made him angry. "You certainly noticed." Jasmine felt a blush creeping up her cheeks. She changed the subject before he could discuss more of the past.

"If you wish to help, go and bring Curtis here. It's the only way Trinity will be able to rest enough for her mind to clear. Maybe with the three of us, we can create some type of spell to mask us until she is strong again."

"This discussion isn't over, Jasmine, just postponed. I shall return."

"Be careful. We still need you, cocky boy or not."

Azraith disappeared.

Curtis kept dodging the fire bolts and death spells being hurled at him knowing he can't keep this up much longer.

'What I wouldn't give for some salt right about now,' he thought to himself. "You're certainly a brave one Morbius!! Brave enough to not fight with a sword. I'd peel you like a potato if it were not for your spells!"

Morbius laughed and fired again at Curtis. "Foolish knight...do you honestly think I'm THAT stupid. I know I may not be your equal by sword. But you can't run forever, and when I do hit you, you'll die more painfully than any mortal mind can POSSIBLY comprehend."

"Once Trinity's mind is cleared of your evil you're finished."

"Let her come, with you as a bargaining chip she wouldn't DARE attack me."

"You underestimate her powers....she'd have me back from death before you lan in hell." He fire a fire bolt at a tree.

"Ha!! You missed!!" Morbius said nimbly stepping aside.

"I didn't miss what I was aiming for!" Curtis said as the tree fell towards Morbius.

Morbius turned around and caught the tree straining a bit at the weight. Curtis ran with his sword only to feel the thud of the tree's trunk hit him in the chest and send him flying. He knew he had broken ribs and more than likely internal injuries. 'Lord,' he prayed silently, 'Clear Trinity's mind or the world is doomed.'

Azraith phased into view beside the fallen Curtis, and knelt beside him..muttering arcane words of healing for his ribs..which rapidly recover. "Well..I'm glad I came when I did..you were damn close there, wern't you?" Az grinned slightly, and eyed Morphius coming this way. "We better get out of here..but first." He couldn't stop himself from sending a rather powerful bolt of psionic energy Morphius' way. The stronger magician simply staggered back..and Azraith nodded. "As I thought..we are gone, Curtis." With that, he waved his hand and Curtis and himself faded from the area, leaving a enraged Morphius. They reappear in the den. "Jasmine, come help Curtis..my healing magic isn't that strong. He'll live, but he needs additional care." He sighed..maybe she was right. He sat down, pulling his knees up to his chest. "Cocky young page..I always was and always will be." He smirked.."but I'll be damned if I can't impact Morphius by the time this is over.."

Curtis closed his eyes gently and said, "No Az...you're not cocky...simply headstrong and overconfident of you abilities. However, you must find your limits or Morbius will kill us all."

He heard a voice to his left, "Curtis? You're here?!"

He looked up and saw Trinity and took her hand, "Yes my love, I am here. A little sore, but seeing you could heal any wound I may hav-AGH!" He winced and fell to his knees as he stood from the pain in his shattered ribs.

Jasmine said, "Curtis, you've just had a tree slammed into you, you need rest. You can stay with Trinity, but please I bid you to rest and heal yourself."

"A-all right," he laid back and began to drift off to sleep.

"My limits.." Az sat down..the realization actually hitting him now. He *needed* to be strong for these three..and not be some headstrong renegade rushing off into battle. Azraith heaved out a deep sigh and closed his eyes..his mind wandering back to his training. He remembered how he was supposed to block out all emotion during psionic battle..but he couldn't, it was his only flaw. He had too much of a will of his own to become a true prophet..but he made his way through the training, improvising and innovating through the years. He felt himself drift more before he snapped himself back into reality, nodding to himself as he began to search his mind for his old tactics and psionic training. He would need to pull out every stop to keep his friends safe, and he planned on being by their sides until the end.

He's back...

Endar came to slowly. His head rang, pulses of pain pounding through his aching skull. What the...what had happened to him? The last he remembered, he'd been...at the bar...looking for someone. Then a flash of pain at the back of his skull, and after that...nothing. Blackness. And bad dreams.

Remembering suddenly, he reached down, checking to see if his rune sword had been taken - and breathed a sigh of releif when he found it, still snug in it's sheath. But his pack...it was missing, and that did not bode well. Not well at all. Lord Trissiant himself had...had...

Trinity. Oh, by the Unbroken Circle.

"My Lady Trinity? Trinity!"

Where was he? What happened?

"Dammit!"

(OOC - sorry I disappeared...I was moving...~sheepish grin~)

Trinity was trying to listen to Jasmine's advice about relaxing when Jasmine had that little tiff with her friend Azraith. Then Curtis... her darling Curtis... so ridiculously brave.

She was starting to panic again, she could feel in well inside her like an evil poison. What was wrong with her. All these people had such faith in her. She had to try and do something.

Then without warning and image of that man... Endar?... came to her muddled mind. She felt slightly calmer. She gripped Jasmine's arm with a strength she never knew she had.

"Jasmine, there is a man, tall and slender, he had information that I desperately need to hear. Do you recall him entering the Inn earlier? Did he escape?"

[Edited by Moneytalks on 07-18-2000 at 04:03 PM]

Jasmine:

"I...I don't know, Trinity. I never met anyone there by that name. Azraith? Do you know what she's talking about?"

He thought for a moment. "YES! He helping fight those things your uncle sent, but I lost him. I'm sorry Trinity."

Tears fell from Trinity's eyes. "NO! Jasmine you have to go get him. He knows things that I must know. He can help me find out what I am. Please, I need him to be here. Will you go and find him?"

"No," Azraith said, "It's to dangerous. I'll go."

Jasmine turned to him. "No, it is my duty as a servant to a greater good. I'll go. I won't come back without him, I promise. Rest now. It will help clear your mind."

She helped Trinity relax again, praying she would have the strenghth to make the journey and still be able to come back.

Azraith sighed deeply as she left..he went to lay down alone, putting his hands over his face with a mutter. "She better be okay..damn the fates if anything bad happens to her." The prophet drew in a deep breath and began to concentrate once more..forcing all thoughts from his mind. Once his mind was clear..he once again started searching for past lessons and teachings..he'll need every bit of information he could remember. "Psionic blades..mental projections..astral beams.."A soft mutter is heard.."..the planet buster.."..with that, he was silent.

Curtis struggled to his feet saying, "I'll go with her AzraaaAAAIIEEE!!" he screeched doubling in pain.

"Or not," Jasmine said, "Az, darling, cast a restraining spell on him until he gets his strength back."

"Sorry friend, but she's right," Az said muttering a few phrases and Curtis was restrained by glowing chains.

"Don't worry Curtis, I'm here," Trinity said gazing into his eyes lovingly, "Curtis...please don't ever scare me by going into battle like that again."

Half-counscious he said, "You have my word." He suddenly became alert..."Oh no, Az...did Jasmine take any kind of weapon?"

Endar blew the hair from his eyes, desperately trying to get his bearings. There was an odd film in his eyes, spots appearing in the darkness...the aftereffects of whatever had knocked him cold, he supposed.

The sudden shreik made him jump. He stumbled backwards, crashing into something with a grunt. Calm yourself, he thought. Remember your lessons.

Taking a deep breath, he shut his eyes, relying on his keen hearing. He slowly drew his sword, balancing himself, and turned in the direction of the scream. He waited. The howl sounded like one of pain, not fear or battlecry, but he wasn't going to take any chances.

His slightly-pointed ears pricked up. Was that someone approaching? Eyes still tightly shut, Endar eased himself into a low combat stance and stood ready.

Az's eyes shot up..weapon?? "We..crap..I gotta go after her.." Az looked to Trinity.."That spell will wear off in several hours..I'll be back by then, but please don't let Curtis get hurt, okay? I might be a master of magic..but I have a feeling he's better with a big sword than me." Then he looked to Curtis. "Stay calm..and watch over Trinity, if I'm not back when you get out of that spell..you'll prolly be healed enough to protect her." With that he stood up and removed his robe..rolling his neck from side to side before he dissapears..going after Jasmine. "By the gods..she will be safe..I promise my queen..." He shook his head and went after her..

OOC: Sorry to let this one stagnate for a while folks, I'm really having fun with this! But alas..I'm goin on Vacation(whoohoo!) I'll be back in two weeks more or less, don't let this thing end without my boy Az!
