I haven't read all the posts so you can shoot me down in flames if you want but -
isn't hemp culitivation completely different from cannibas cultivation?

Hemp is used for oil and fibre isn't it?

I was first thinking of the one (hemp) which led to the other (marijuana) which led to the next... the illegality of drugs in general, why which substances were scheduled as dangerous enough to all of ourselves to pass such humorless legislation against and why, when, etc others are perfectly legal to purchase and possess... something like that.

Actually, alcohol had been outlawed several years earlier, but when the government saw how stupid that was, they repealed it. Then they once again stuck their heads up their asses and outlawed much less harmful drugs.
