"Who is this... lady, young Keldrik?"
The venerable dwarf had a slow, heavy voice - like boulders falling into a dale, crushing the trees and hamlets in it's destructive path. He approached them, smiling heartly as he noticed how Lucy knew to respect her betters. Keldrik himself had done some curtsie towards the Priest.
"This is Lucy... we've found her farm destroyed as hobgoblins plundered the place and put her parents though the blade." Keldrik awnsered, as if being judged by something unworthy. "She was left alone... and I could not allow her to remain there, outside, in the wild."
"You've done well, young one.", the older dwarf smiled. He analised Lucy's form, as if appraising an exotic work of art. "She should remain into the Hold, and prevent her from leaving. Outside is far to dangerous." For it was the dwarves custom that no females should ever leave their Holds. For a race renowned to have 2/3s males and only 1/3 born female, it was one effective defensive strategy to protect their women. But would Lucy understand it?
"She may remain until the next merchant caravan comes from the south.", the older dwarf said as he give the couple his back, "Until them, Keldrik, you are to care and keep her. Partake with your bed and your food. She shall be your guest. For she has Moradin's Blessing."
Of course. What else could have made her sing one unknown, sacred tune?
