If my phrases are not perfect, will it be ok to post here?
Definitely OK to post here. A couple of things to remember:
  • Remember that many of those who post here, especially in AH, are very literate, which means that they have broad vocabularies
  • But many of the characters we write are not as smart and often speak terrible English, which can mask any mistakes that you make
  • There is no standard English; it varies between and within countries
Finally, consider including an author's note at the end stating that English is not your first language.

Thank you for this! I will say English is my second language then. I hope comments will be kind as I improve by each story!

Thank you everyone for all of the tips. I enjoy practicing and getting better. I hope to write stories and have them on here someday soon!
There are also some threads on writing that could be helpful, though they might also be overwhelming, so don't feel like you have to implement everything in one go.

I'll ...

Wow so many people telling me tips and helpful information.
Thank you to everyone here again. You all are very friendly and helping me so much. I appreciate this very much!!!

And since you mentioned something about slang ... y'all.

Or even y'all're (you all are), but that's getting advanced southern.

LOL. So true. I'm far more in your face and opinionated on the PB but I leave that behind on the AH. Maybe that's a bit schizo but I enjoy the take no prisoners approach on the PB.

I ignore all that on the AH, of course. This board is all about writing and that's how I treat it. Anyhows, I am what I am - take me or leave me as you please LOL

I will always be the nice Chloe on the AH though LOL - over the years I've got a tremendous amount out of the AH, and I like passing it forwards.
I saw this yesterday and, like everyone else it seems, thought 'hmmm, best leave that well alone'. I understand the priority of keeping this forum clean.

However, I think it's worth making one particular point - a point that I would argue is above politics.

The remarkable thing about this website is that, because its a sex website, it's a place where people from all over the world and of every political stripe meet and interact. That is amazing and remarkably rare and worth protecting - because it's incredibly valuable to encounter ideas that are different to our own. There are people I disagree with on this website but I genuinely love hearing their thoughts.

I believe such a world (or community on a sex website) can only maintain itself if it upholds one non-negotiable principle: everyone has equal standing. In political terms, there are no second class citizens, there are no 'real people'.

So, if you refer to some types of people as 'cockroaches' - as ChloeTzang has done elsewhere on this website, and she's not the only one - and indeed if you argue that 'it is necessary to kill' all those people - then that puts you outside of the community.

I'm not interested in a discussion on this - this will be my only post on the matter - and I certainly don't want to descend into political niceties about whether people have a right to call people 'cockroaches'. Furthermore, I don't control this website either, I'm just an occasional and somewhat new contributor, so my opinion has no practical ramifications.

But I want to say this because I think it's important that it's said: if you refer to some types of people as 'cockroaches' then, sure as hell, I am not going to discuss semi-colons with you - no matter how 'nice' you think you're behaving.

Thank you. Too many of our peers take the first path, because it's easier.

They have decided to not be equal and must not be treated as though they are.

I could add a thought, but ....

.. well, I'm a might miffed at the moment.

(OP should be having fun with the slang by now. By way of explanation, I am very angry and cannot add any further detail.)
'a mite miffed'.

I wouldn't normally correct someone's English, but seeing as it's a thread for helping a non-native speaker...

There is a lesson here that must not be forgotten:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He's_Alive

Opening Narration

"Portrait of a bush-league fuehrer named Peter Vollmer, a sparse little man who feeds off his self-delusions and finds himself perpetually hungry for want of greatness in his diet. And like some goose-stepping predecessors, he searches for something to explain his hunger, and to rationalize why a world passes him by without saluting. The something he looks for and finds is in a sewer. In his own twisted and distorted lexicon, he calls it faith, strength, truth. But in just a moment, Peter Vollmer will ply his trade on another kind of corner, a strange intersection in a shadowland called the Twilight Zone."

Closing Narration

"Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare - Chicago? Los Angeles? Miami, Florida? Vincennes, Indiana? Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive."

The AH is not the place for flamewars. If you want to have one, please take it to the GB. Thank you!]
